Zherys only suspects that Viserys is a softy. Personally, I think Viserys has a poker face good enough that the guy doesn't know for sure that we'll put morals ahead of profit. In any case, I think we'd totally take a third option in these situations and say "profit and morals" and damn the consequences--and then we either sidestep the consequences using good rolls or run face first into them.
Which is why I would greatly prefer to not take the bait and get extorted by him. It's handing him a gold plated lever to make us run in circles whenever be damn well pleases.

Seriously, why not get the cake and eat it too?

We have Dreamvisit exactly for situations such as this. We get Zherys' bribe and Hermetia gets a clean death for her father. What's the problem?

Hell, I'd say it's more dignified for a nobleman to choose his own death, meager as the choice may seem, and kill himself instead of being made into public spectacle.

I'm not going to be too bent out of shape about her not getting her inheritance. I'll be a little salty, but it'll go away because, yes, we're not just going to tell her "you're on your own!" We invested in her. Maybe she'll be a minor character like Leila Hill, and never advance beyond earning her keep, or, maybe she'll become extremely grateful that even though she made this extremely difficult for us and ensured we ran around in circles for little profit and more responsibilities, she'll work her ass off and breach into big league PC levels down the line.

Who can say?

But yeah, I'm confused. Usually there's a lot of salt about how we never get our hands on the shiny. Here DP dangles it right in front of us, and ironically enough, we're the ones hamstringing ourselves over it. When we don't even have to.

Well, I mostly don't want to risk Dany. Tiamat interrupt is possible, no?

@Diomedon, my biggest problem here is that there's an easy way for us to get everything we want out of this. We can dream visit Hermetia's dad and kill him there. We can sneak in there in person. Dany can contact him via Sending (she's met the guy in person) and let him know what Volantis has planned for him. Yes, these have risk, but so does literally everything else that we've done so far.

It's not how Viserys works.
I wouldn't accept not getting Hermetia's inheritance for this case, but I'd certainly be willing to get our will anyway, even if it takes shooting a Fireball from the crowd at the execution.
We could send her father message to insult our honor at the execution, at which point we blow him up?

Hrm. If you're sure...I guess I've been swayed into abstaining.
I'm sure. After how she saved our asses in Essaria (before she was level 11, mind you) I'd say she can outmaneuver pretty much anything that comes after her so long as she has the presence of mind not to fight it. And she usually has a clear head when it comes to self-preservation.

... This is actually not a bad idea, but I'm really worried about scarring Hermetia like that.

The dreamvisit vote has a pretty good lead now.
Adhoc vote count started by TalonofAnathrax on Sep 11, 2017 at 8:36 AM, finished with 80 posts and 18 votes.

If it actually becomes more difficult to kill him by subterfuge due to salt over having to pay us for the privilege of our support, I may just rabble rouse us into a vote to blowing up her dad during the execution. Maybe we'll accidentally blow up Zherys too, while we're fleeing the scene.

Why do you assume this is going to be trivial? (if Zherys is feeling vindictive he could double security right now or supercharge the followup investigation)
I would hope it's easy because Dany has never before shown this ability. Nobody from this plane would even think of the option to travel through dreams and deposit real objects on sleepers.

Though the Fire Caller might think of it, if he cares at all.

Third way is best way. The fact that the Elephants will not be vaguely molified with a bloody execution (thereby making Zaerys' job harder) is icing on the cake.

First, why would he think of doing that? We are helping him.

Second, how would he meaningfully affect the results here?
Ah doh. Dany can teleport small objects. I thought you were talking about sneaking in/Dream Travel (or killing him in his dreams).
