Even with the song that's confirmed to protect the automata against corruption?

Can i chuck research write-ins at you and if any are good they are added to research options?
I think we've asked and the answer is "mostly no." But it's worth a try? @HeroCooky Just spitballing here. "No" is a fair answer, but are any of these valid options?
  • Reverse-engineering parts of the Planetmaw for civilian/military use, especially focused on industrial automata for asteroid mining.
  • Develop models of crime & disappearances to improve our ability to detect cults. Basically help us see anomalies in census/crime data.
  • Do sociological research to improve our diplomats, by studying the cultures around us and providing more social context & insight into their needs & priorities.
  • Research and implement new educational infrastructure using new technology, both for our military/choirs schools and for the general public.
  • Apply our high level of fighter infrastructure to improving civilian transport, both for planetary logistics and for personal travel.
A lot of these are *probably* irrelevant or below the level of abstraction, and I think I'm just asking if there are any holes in our civilian technology or places where military innovation hasn't made its way into the civilian world yet. But I'm genuinely curious if we could do research to improve cult detection or diplomatic efficiency.

same with the first half of this again and the last two catch my eye. more learning/understanding songs that are either for research in tech or psykana.
We have QM confirmation (mostly) that Songs Of Progress Sung With Lessons Understood And Applied will most likely improve psykana actions, likely by giving us bonus actions in the same way we get bonus actions from Mechadendrite & Heartbeat of Industry. I'm excited about that. It's the last major class of actions that we can get bonus actions towards, and will make the observatory cheaper to complete (as well as the next stages that let us actually interfere with the warp).

Same, we JUST saw this happen with the cutting off of Cry For The Future due to the warp tremors going up to High and blocking us from using it more and us needing to wait until it went down to even plan to use Grand Design. I really don't want to do all this and then using Tremors HIGH cannot use any symphony at all during it.
The Grand Design makes the warp go up by a quarter as much as A Cry for the Future does. Right now we've got more than a single tick of room to play with. Singing Cry to the Future would not trigger a warp storm without warp shenanigans. So the level of warp shenanigans needed to set it off a Warp Storm with The Grand Design would be extreme. Like to the point where that level of warp shenanigans would have landed us in a warp storm any of the last 5 turns.

Also - we're singing Foretold Luminous Paths Seen now, which tells us about people doing shenanigans like that in our direction.

It is canonically how the Tau got to all-X.
I thought we were told they spent all-V on tech, then got up to all-X the hard way. Regardless, if we decide to go for all-XV then the right way to do it is to first figure out how to manually calm the warp, then we make some ISCs to reduce dev costs, or potentially figure out a symphony that does it.

I think the later part of your post was cut off.

Edit: @HeroCooky, since we're really good friends/allies that have active trade (plus good stealth coverage) can you tell us of the Dev levels in Shipwrights Grove? I'm honestly interested in how they stack up to us. Since they aren't (I think) all Iconoclastic they don't get the Equal Dev everywhere so what are their core territories and peripheral system's stats?

the hell were those babies made out of?
Relativistic Speed. :p

No to all because you are either already doing them, or they are below abstraction.

Additionally, Re: Planetmaw;
You have been studying it since you created it, and figured out how one specific screw used in one type of panel three times across the entire Planetmaw works. The Star-Mechanicum sees this as a major win.

About 3~8 for all, except Void, which is 12~18.

Well, you turned up above the moon, and the Insane AI just started chucking malformed babies at your ships at terminal velocities. So it prevented some total ship losses by being able to repair your ships.

Beyond that, all other military actions were on the ground.

...only in 40K can you make Hypersonic Bullet Babies a legitimate threat that makes sense for the setting.

[X] Plan: Trigger and Song

@HeroCooky
About the things you previously said are a psytech thing, not a Song thing:
Can i chuck research write-ins at you and if any are good they are added to research options?
Try to find a good song, then boost it by researching a psytech still feels better narratively, but... snowballs chance in hell that actually happens.
Good research write-ins might make it in bounty of labour research frenzy.

283.M43 - Change Draws Near...
A Storm Of Change Draws Near...

Choose One For Each Development:
(6-Hour Moratorium)
[][Void Industry] Multi-Deck/Turret Arrangements
Space is at a premium within the cold vastness of the void, for every step you can walk is another that needs to be heated, cooled, watched, repaired, defended, and accounted for in a thousand minor things that can spell the doom of a vessel if neglected. By grouping weapons into multi-deck or multi-turret assemblies, the space required for weapons can be significantly reduced at a negligible cost to crew comforts.
(Gain: Multi-Deck/Turrets, which significantly reduce space required to mount multiple weapons of the same, or different, types in one ship.)
[][Void Industry] Grand Equipment Specializations
In the long time that the Star Navy has operated in the void, they have consistently placed quality over quantity, with even the foundational FTL method used by the Federation incentivizing such a mindset. In that pursuit, more and more specialist equipment and modules were commissioned, created, perfected, and further pursued to eke out even a minor advantage over the past equipment. Let none say the Star Navy does not stand at the bleeding edge of science!
(Gain: Specialist Equipment, such as Power-Spurs, Splitter-Missiles, Voidshield-Surge Capacitors, Symphonia Arcanums of various effects, etc.)
[][Void Industry] Military-Industrial Design Competition
There is greatness that no amount of fancy weapon or equipment can bring out. There is artistry in simplicity and genius in simple lines. The Glimmering Federation has harnessed the power of generations and the insights gained into all things void-related to its utmost in its pursuit of excellence, fostering an endless competition in its design bureaus that ruthlessly pushed at the edge of what is possible, leading to ships of eminence.
(Gain: +1 Maximum Level to all Design Brackets (e.g., Armor/Shields) for your Ships. All DB are treated as one step cheaper for all ships.)

[][Medical Services] Multi-Spectral Development Efforts
"'In all things: Do No Harm.' Heh. What a joke. Our job is to harm. Harm on an apocalyptical scale, butchering trillions so that singulars may live. It is our duty to create weapons and delivery methods to wipe out entire strains of life, erase them from existence, and ensure they can never return to harm us."
"Dramatic for someone working on anti-parasite medicines."
"My life's work is an anti-poop parasite drug; let me have this."
(Gain: Effective Multi-Spectrum Medicines against Bacterial, Viral, Parasitical, Spore, etc. Infections, Diseases, and Attacks.)
[][Medical Services] Biochemical Omni-Applicable Neural Enhancement
"It is true that some see what we are doing here as the herald to a future where you need to shed what you were and become what we want, or make, you to be. But is it not equally true that people deserve a chance to say, 'This is not how I want to live,' and have the ability to change their fortune? What crime is there in giving people a choice, not to be more or to be less, but to be who they wish to be? What crime indeed..."
(Gain: Ogryn intellect becomes equal to the Human baseline. Eliminates all cognitive ailments and minorly enhances baseline intelligence for all Federation Species with Biochemical Brains.)
[][Medical Services] Omnipresent Augmentations
"I have one life. Who are you to deny me the body I choose?"
(Gain: Biological and Mechanical Augmentations become omnipresent for all Federation Citizens, boosting the industriousness, happiness, and capabilities of everyday people, alongside increasing the resilience of your armies.)
