Like it, lets us study law, maybe the books Jeyne gave us, while also consulting the Master of Laws himself. Feel like it'll be a very important part of our Progress and we aren't prepared for it nearly as much as we are with fighting.

I must agree with the idea that romancing someone alongside Alicent seems like betrayal... I'd much rather we find a beard like Laenor, preferably someone whose family has some power to help us, like Laenor.
Laenor is just the best choice bar some new character appearing imho.

The stress hit from kids is an issue with Laenor. As is that the Velayrons have been rejecting our olive branches.

I'm pulling for Gwayne, because it seems like it has the best chance of making things undramatic in terms of Alicent's family relations, it's the closest we can get to having kids with Alicent without magic, and he seems a decent sort we can be friends with without romance. Also it's such a stereotypical thing to do - didn't Emily Dickinson's "close companion" marry Emily's brother?

If we could marry Harwin without catching feelings he's probably be my #2, then Laenor. Unfortunately, all have advantages and disadvantages IMO.

Gwayne is not a bad choice actually, brings Otto and the Hightowers to our side and we could even make keeping Alicent unmarried a condition for it...
Harwin doesn't really bring anything to the table for me though, It would probably make Larys an enemy and if Harrenhall is cursed in this quest then they are destined to die anyway, besides they don't bring much to the table as they are a new house.

Now that we know we can have children with Laenor, albeit with stress, it's hard not to go with him. The support of the Velaryons, their wealth, their dragons and their fleet would be invaluable in case of any sort of succession crisis. Meanwhile our relationship with Alicent would satisfy our romanticism.

Marriage to Harwin secures an important Riverlander House and Castle.

The Way to marry Alicent is simple
  1. Marry some man and have a child
  2. Husband dies
  3. Lose Civil War and flee into exile with Alicent and child
  4. Convert to religion that allow Yuri marriages
  5. Marry Alicent
  6. Return from Exile and win new civil war (Daemon winning the first war will make this part easier, as that Chaotic Gremlin will probably destroy his own support base whilst we are in exile)
  7. Reign of Two Queens
  8. After death our child from our first marriage rules.

[X] Plan: Preparing for our Responsibilities

[X] Plan: Strong Start

I want to talk to Lyonel because I love his show depiction.

I wonder what candidates for Marriage we have:

We could go for the canon route of marrying Laenor, who would be very understanding of our personal Situation

But would be unable to give us children, which Is the most important part of a political Marriage

And would refuse any romantic relationship outside of Alicent and whoever we end up married

So I believe Gwayne Hightower Is our Best Bet if we want to keep our relationship with His Sister without fear and also heirs to preserve our lineage

He already know something Is going on between us and Alicent, and as long we are True to our vows to her, and believe he would accept this particular dynamic

PS: And we would make Rhaenyra's biggest canon threat her greatest ally this Time. Without Otto moving to counter us, there Is less chances for a strong "Green" to appear

Well actually, we will be able to try for children with Laenor but it will (heavily) increase our stress.

The Westerling-Targs may not be much of a threat (they will have no real support outside of The Westerlands and more misogynistic Lords) but we also have to worry about Daemon and/or Corlys Velaryon.

Angry are we, Daemon? This royal progress is probably the safest place for Rhea to be at the moment.

[X] Plan: Preparing for our Responsibilities

Re: matches, I do think we're assuming a lot of Gwayne- whether he would be okay with Rhaenyra/Alicent in and of itself is separate from whether he'd still be okay with it in a scenario where he's married to Rhaenyra.

Daemon's reaction is definitely making him the most likely candidate for starting an anti-Rhaenyra civil war in my eyes, at least at the moment.

Of course, a war is probably a long way off, barring Viserys tripping down a set of stairs.
