On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Your fellow Runelord blinks owlishly, and you feel a bit of indignation about that.
That wasn't indignation you wazzok!

"Zorn has many treasures and secrets, my Lord. If one knows where and how to look, they can claim them for their own," Brynna says, staring at you cryptically,
Goodness gracious that's downright flirty from a dwarven lass no matter the age!

You watch her go for a moment before turning away to start heading home yourself when realization strikes.
And even more miraculous then our new hammer is the fact that Snorri actually figured it out! And he didn't even need to work on a Rune of Subtext to put it all together too!

[X] [Light] Rune of Heat Vision

And I want glowy red eyes in our prosthetics.

So, is the Karag Dum place above or below that of the Hearth Guard symbol? I'm guessing bellow is the intended placement?

On the Eye, do you think it's a higher/lower bandwidth split of light?

I love the way this differs from our college. It's more of a gatekept but open Library/Vault split. Not one where you learn to be better technically, but somewhere you can go to check your roots and see where you fare in comparison. Not of much use to those already well off and well connected dawi who have complete learning and solid ways, but to the orphans and the dispossessed, to the depressed and the ones who fear they have strayed, this place could be a brilliant source of comfort and learning. A place of comfort that reminds those dawi that the ways of your people are kept and will carry on to those that pass through it's halls.

I imagine adding to it's record to also be one of those feats that will be as legend. Only the most dwarf-like of dwarf acts of dwarf life. Record par excellence worthy of being a guidepost to the next generation. And anything Snorri related will be likely barred from the place which I assume will only add to the mythologized non-existence of the Gift Giver.
Fixed!
The new totals were not actually calculated below (unless I somehow missed them).
Fixed thanks

so RE: the Brilliant Hall.

Its closer to Khazagar than the Citadel. Its just through a conservative lense. The Runesmiths and the King fund the continued function of the place, for it is their duty as Dawi to build and grow their communities. Leadership is not within the hands of one, but a council of Elders, as is tradition in a Clan so shall it be a tradition here. Just as House are the elders of the Conclave, so are the Runelords the elders of the Masters. What power they have is solely over the knowledge they choose to share as is tradition, and their duty is to test, to advise, and to teach. Runelore cannot be written and Guildlore cannot be shared for it breaks with tradition, but knowledge and the cultivation of knowledge is good. Learned Dawi are better than dumb Dawi and a boon to the Hold. So let all other knowledge, be there. Let the wisdom of the Elders build the foundations of those to come, and in time may they add to it.

It is Runelore in support of the functions of society, done the proper way (to the Dawi of Izril). Using existing Dwarf power structures as inspiration and incorporating them in away that does not break their beliefs.

So as a sort of handy, very vague, once-over guide for the 4 Rune Institutions currently.

It never ceases to amuse that, from the POV of everybody not in the North, Vragni and his Citadel of Creation are just as Radical™ as Snorri. That one rumor that had him labeled just another Northern Radical dang near killed me.

- Another Northern Radical, though he'd glare at you for saying such, one Vragni Silverbrand has made his intentions of creating a rival to Klausson's creation, the Citadel of Creation as he calls it.

Actually now that blood of Slave Wyrm turned out to be equivalent to Elder Wyrm ones, does that mean we will get easier time acquiring it for a while (since there is lot of Slave Wyrm dlaying happening in the North currently).

Yeah, we need 17 more for the dragon. We got 10. So basically just a couple more from princely hunting or hearthguard or just orders and we're good to go. Or we spend the favor to order it separately.

Let's see here:
- Builds an entirely new organisation/tradition/practice of Runesmithing
- Toes the line of tradition and rules via judicious use of technicalities and rule lawyering
- Creates an entire physical structure to support this new movement
- Was started by Snorri, and thus could be considered a tradition originating from him

Wait a second... they're all Snorrists!

Truly, dwarves have the most interesting ways to show their love and adoration for one another. Snorri unfortunately got himself some Dwarf yanderes as his greatest and most dedicated fans.

The advantage of ordering 7 units of Elder Wyrm Blood is we don't have to go to war on turn 59 or 58 and don't have to put Gimli or the Hearthguard at risk. Or use the Hearthguard's retainer actions.

The cost is 210 favor, 105 to order the seven units, 105 more to accelerate it to ensure it arrives turn 60. And we can pay that with a combination of Grom and Ungor favor. And we'd still have a lot left even after this kind of expenditure.

Darn Ornsmotek standing. I bet standing 10 is a flat reduction in monster part order time. If we had that at 10 it should come in 1 or 2 turns.

>the Time of Woes happens
>the northern Karaz Ankor gets separated from the south
>the entirety of the southern Runesmith effort is put toward getting in contact with the north because, to quote one graybeard, "I'll be damned before I let those radicals keep Karaz-Karak-Rhun for the rest of eternity!"

I'm not really sure what the mechanism behind darkvision is, but it seems like it would be the stronger of the two options. There are a lot of ways heatvision can be countered or exploited to put one in a bad spot.

[X] [Light] Rune of Dark Vision

And if dwarves already have good darkvision, than this seems like a silly vote.

Man Vrangi is such a useful little tool in the quest to disassemble traditional runesmithing. He is de-legitimizing the conservatives by incing closer to a guild. Once the underway breaks, which is inevitable at this point, it is going to get so much more extreme and Snori's hands, like his conscience, are going to be clear.

Not sure what Vragni has to do with the stuff going on in Izril and Brynduraz so I'm not following your line of logic.

If he had not set the ball rolling by declaring himself the anti-Snori faction and the champion of tradition odds are the southern holds never would have build they own answer, their own rebuke to him and Snori. By threatening to make this guild-like he's going to make even more holds get into the game since they will not want to fall into the sphere of one of the existing institutions. Basically the more extreme Vrangi gets in his position the more the unspoken conservative consensus that could have smothered our ideas and the radicals in general goes up in smoke. I eagerly await the day when some runelord thinks we are doing radicalism wrong and makes their own school.

All these new institutions will hopefully get some other guilds and holds moving to build their own megaprojects in response. KaK and Azul are joining in which just leaves Eightpeaks, Ungor, Kadrin, and Zhufbar of the major Southern holds to do their own projects. Doesn't have to be runecraft, the KaK/Azul collab doesn't sound like it is, but more wonders is cool. And with every new wonder that goes up, you get more Dawi who want to travel to work there and go sight seeing.

Jorri's guild only grows stronger the more holds join in on this wave of building.
