-[X ] Legendary Gene-Seed: The finest Gene-Seed ever recovered from a given legion. 15 Points per charge, Burn a Charge to add a legion's legendary traits to the roll list for that round.
-[X] Extra trainers: With some extra effort and yelling at a few more bureaucrats, you ought to be able to arrange things so the new Chapter is able to get in some extra specialised training before proper deployment. 5 Points. Burn 1 charge to get an extra training option.
-[X] Latch Boots: A superior counterpart to the regular mag-boots in Power Armour, these fascinating devices gives the Chapter's armor the ability to 'stick' itself onto any surface at will - letting the Astartes of the chapter fight on vertical surfaces, or even while upside down. 10 Points.


Logic: The Thousands sons are known for their extreme thirst for knowledge and are very curious. The Gates are an undeniable thing to enter to this. The boots fit on any surface which is a good thing for exploring. The legendary seed is given because the webway has it's own level of psychic BS. These will be the Sons of Magnus which will do SOMETHING.

I hope people like my idea. However if people do not find this a fitting chapter to put on the gate planet then this one will be stashed for other endevours and I would support another plan with another chapter which would/will explore the webway.
 
I got a question. why can't the emperor entrust the protection of sensei to another chapter? Or use a non space marine force. Or even his own custodes?

Yes but also:
  • It is just a chapter of space marines
  • Getting webway tech will drop allllll of Aeldari on their heads
  • Astronomican tech could be stolen by chaos to create dark astronomican in the style of Moreslieb from fantasy
  • even if we succeed with webway research, it will open up the eternal war against the Eldari with no hope of peace and for no value given the everchanging nature of webway. Also navigators i.e. richest people in galaxy will revolt ending the travel where there are no webway gates to open
I in general think that going for protecting people Emperor cares about is more vital given that they are either:
  • Sensei, his blood children who if there is even a slightest chance of being half as strong as they are in Song of Peace, than preventing their deaths is esencial
  • Pre age of strife perpetual. i.e. people who could in time in theory restart the golden age of technology
  • Heroes of the Imperium, whose influence could further slow down the degradation of the imperium
 
Just to raise a possibility, like in Song of Peace the sensei that we would be sent after might just hate the emperor and not want anything to do with him. In that case it would probably be safer to do the webway project.
 
SO, Remsen how Emps desperately wanted Magnus back during the Horuesy? I presume it was for this same thing he wants the TS chapter thing is i cant remember WHAT magnis was for, beyong sitting on the chair

if magnus was there to power the astronotmicon or protect the webway Malchador would have survivied and Emps would have recovered from the wound Horus delt him.

A gate into the Warp that the emperor drew power from to crate his sons. Also its the site of exile for his kinda sorta but maybe not Wife who got conned into helping with scattering the primarchs.

Honestly on one hand I do like the Mystery, but on the other hand I hate not having all the info on what we're choosing because I feel like the first option isn't what you guys think it is. It make no sense. If it's webway related a single chapter wouldn't be enough. A Secondary Astronomicon make some sense or maybe it's more like a way to extend its effect to where the Astronomicon doesn't?
 
...Astromonicon makes bigger sense especially given Emperor's Landing. Either way, it is something related to Thousand Sons and if we choose that, we need make sure that no Eldar, Alpha Legion or anyone else, gets their hands on that!

It's a Gate that goes deep into the Warp thats implied to not be noticeable for Chaos Gods to see. If I remember correctly. Nope its just a gate straight to Chaos.

I really don't think making so many assumptions is good idea. Undead frog can take inspiration from other people ideas but it's just as likely he has completely different idea of Sensei that has nothing to do with Song of Peace.

Also, I doubt that Undead Frog would have given as a trap option that if we succeed will result in a catastrophe that will engulf the Imperium in eternal war against Navigators and Eldar and leave everything in worse state than if we didn't take it or have failed it.

Also, I really doubt we will be able to restore Imperial Webway wholesale, but certainly will be able to correct it, increasing the defense against Daemons, so there's no real reason for Eldar, let alone all of them, to start attacking the Chapter. The Imperial Webway is a shithole infested with Daemons, Eldar, especially Drukhari who actually live in Webway as opposed to most other Eldar, couldn't care less about people who have access to it and who's job will naturally concentrate towards it.

Also, the idea, that Chaos forces will be somehow able to steal from our Chapter this very specific piece of technology and then use it to create their own Astronomican that will spread corruption across Galaxy, is just...again, I really doubt that Undead frog give us trap option, unless rolls fuck us over, which may happen as well with Sensei request, there's no reason to think something so bad and frankly utterly insane will happen.

I mean I doubt it would be that easy if it where the Custodes coulda done that MAYBE with the help of select chapters like the Grey Knights and the Space Wolves. I could maybe see them stabilize it and take pressure off of Emps briefly.
 
I can confirmed that not only are their not trap options here but things are actually less likley to go wrong due to the Custodians/Possibly Emperors direct attention.
