Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
War turns aren't on deck quite yet, though it's getting closer. But we have the Wedding coming up very soon, so we probably shouldn't load another Story Arc onto the table before that.

But with our third action, I think we should commit one to multi-turn projects like the Boiling Deeps shrine to increase our Cultpop cap, we need at least one Cultpop by the time we leave or we'll be in Trouble.

"The room was chosen well. The balcony facing east, to receive the strong yang of the dawning sun each morning, but if this is to be your primary office, it will not be enough, given your nature," the geomancer said, eyes panning around the room. "Yin pools in your presence, while you are suited to it, it will make your subordinates sluggish and fatigued. I suggest looking into other sources of yang, an art piece with brighter colors, perhaps a more intense lantern for light. Summer aspected floral arrangements may also work."

Ling Qi tilted her head curiously."...Would a muse of the Dreaming Moon counterbalance it at all?"

"To an extent," Meng Duyi said, raising an eyebrow. "But I would suggest some brighter colors in the halls and nearby offices regardless."

"I will see to it, though I really do like more muted colors," Ling Qi said, peering around the room. Some spots of brightness wouldn't hurt, especially if they were mostly in the halls outside. Some flower arrangements would probably make everything cheerier.
"Can i keep my color scheme if i smooch hang out with my muse in here a lot? Can i keep the dimmer switch on the lantern if i dance with them in the liminal once a week or something like that?"

:V

(JJ suggests making her and GG share an office to counterbalance it :p)

We already have a cap of 1, which is sufficient for defense. Increasing the cap further is going to be largely a side-effect of boosting e.g. Happiness.

Boosting arrival rate would be nice though. TOF (wrongly written TOFF in the list) is blocked but SS is available.

Note that having 3 projects means we'll have to be more proactive about CoCCW - it's not mandatory this turn but likely is next turn to avoid wasting the turn after that. Will analyze more later.

Increasing cap doesn't make a difference to our chances of rolling one in the first place. The only thing left that boosts the rate right now is the Snowblossom Shrine.

It's time to lock in safety for our family and an extra action per fief plan. Then during the War Arc we can tear straight through any non-narritive projects with ease and comfort. And then do our spirit seeking when we have leave.

"For your own space, it may be fine, so long as you do not carelessly keep any subordinates working in the interior for too long, you yourself are a great attractor of Yin energy, amplifying what is in your surroundings. Mortals and low cultivators have much less constitution for concentrated energies than you or I."

Just another small thing to remember, Ling Qi supposed… It was no wonder that a higher realm could forget and trample others without any malice. "I'll keep that in mind… its only a leaders duty to take care of their subordinates."

"Easy words to say, easy words to forget," Meng Duyi said agreeably. "We will speak again when your expedition is done then, Baroness?"
I love this section. So small, but so meaningful. Even with all the work we've put in to ensure we don't forget the needs of those under us, we still benefit from other perspectives and reminders. The advantage of society.

"Don't forget to make sure your office doesn't slowly kill mortals who go there" is a small ask, but...

Heh, we can ask Cai to have darker colors in her office. Cool pitchers of water with eternal ice in it. Bunch of things to make it more comfortable for us... I mean the mortals.

Yeah, its for the mortals.

So the options we really want to consider are the following:
[] Safely Do More
-[ ]Expand Hamlet Administration
-[ ] Settlement Walls
We have to get those defenses up at some point... But I'd rather do it during month 1, since LQ will be away presumably the whole month.

[] More Fish
-[ ]Expand Hamlet Administration
-[ ] Fishing Boats
this is the only option that I'm considering right now which increases our manpower, virtual or not.

[X] Snowblossom with glasses
-[X]Expand Hamlet Administration
-[X] Snowblossom Shrine
This would not give us enough happiness to get another virtual manpower, but it gives us a margin... And I think it might be the one we need to do first since we want as many bonuses (boni ?) to the cultivator manpower roll as we can get away with taking, as early as possible.

Personally, now seems to be an ideal time to develop one of our special resources, like the Chillgrasp clay.

Obviously we take the extra action. No question about it.

I'm inclined to get the walls done ASAP, so we can safely go to the wedding and won't be tied down. Getting the extra manpower earlier for a few more resources doesn't really matter, when we have Cai wealth to call on.

I'm excited for a third action.

I'm also down for walls, and the plan of frontloading or waiting on narrative choices, so that we can smash through non-narrative choices while we're away.

"I've seen something of what a Way like mine could like, at those heights. My thought then was that the difference lay in the faes, the individuals of your kin and community. Letting them disappear into the whole… I think that's the start of a poor turn," Ling Qi said. "I'm already bad at remembering people who are too far away. I've engraved the lonely streets into my Way, but I'm not sure its enough," Ling Qi spoke carefully.

"I think seeing what an unrestrained ideal can do to those beneath its notice is a lesson I will benefit from, which will sharpen my own weapons well, such as they are."

She had chosen to make isolation her blade, the privation of the mind. What she had suffered, she had made her weapon. That was the cultivation she had chosen. In every art she had that had the capacity for harm, there were traces of that.

She knew she was going to hate looking into such a pit of ugliness.

But she knew somewhere down in her gut, the coming offensive against the ith would be so much worse.
That's pretty good reasoning for choosing Roots.

"So yes, the roots, down where the suffering was all the sharper for its lack of malice," Ling Qi said. "The Palace… I have a feeling I'll need to see it again, but I don't think now is the time. I don't think that journey should be touched by war."

"I will not promise to offer my guidance toward it when you feel ready. A choice made is consequences set," Shu Yue said. "Without such, they are meaningless."
She can still do palace but it won't be with Shu Yue's help and won't be at this time.

He pursed his lips. "I will not waste time speaking of wariness. You have already chosen a very old path indeed, when it comes to choosing mentors."
Ling Qi smiled faintly. He probably didn't even know about Huisheng. It was still true though. Learning from deadly spirits was perhaps the oldest form of cultivation. "I have slowed down for long enough."
LQ is dredging up some ancient stuff.

"I have written a treatise for your Lady and yourself to review along with young Master Zhengui."

+1 Material production per manpower, max Manpower reduced to 3

Iron and Silver mine production Increased by 0.25 per manpower
Seeing numbers go up is nice.

Hah he's totally going to bring this home and spread the concept isn't he?
Oh yeah he's totally going to do that and have fun with it to.

Moratorium's over since almost 30 minutes ago.

[X] Safely Do More

I did the math (considering the cumulative chance), and

[] Snowblossom with glasses
-[]Expand Hamlet Administration
-[] Snowblossom Shrine

only gives an increase of around 3% (initially 4%, falling to 2% due to approaching 100%) compared to taking SS next turn. It's a huge improvement (initially 9%, increasing to 16%, only decreasing again far in the future) over not taking SS at all though!

If we hadn't procrastinated the essential Admin earlier, we could've had both, grumble grumble.

(of course, if we get lucky on the C roll this turn, we can afford to delay SS if we want. BDSF is better and CoCCW is going to be needed soon, so the question is if there's a sufficiently sexy third project if we don't need SS. We do need some M income improvements ...)
