Please reconsider what you all are voting for. France, which hates us, and has a high likelyhood of starting a conflict with us, has just become a protestant nation and may come to italy to burn rome down as their founder Charlemagne did once before. Their is also the ottomans to consider. We need stronger borders better able to repel the modern army. The serf issue isn't nearly as neccessary. We should also work to prevent england from ending up an enemy because of the religious schism.

Following your comments I replaced the Isabella option with Keys to Statecraft, Serfs with North Italy defense and the tarriffs one with diplomacy with the English to keep France in.

I think that the thing that will benefit us in the long term will be to invent the metric system to have a single and precise unit of measurement (since in those days the units of measurement varied from city to city, not only in Italy but also in the rest of the Europe) which will improve the academic, economic, bureaucratic and military aspects.
 
Speaking of the church, does the pope still dislike and if so does he happen to like staying on easily push downable stairs?
