The thing I see being overlooked is what role we are going to play in Isendral services for this plotline. We are very junior partner here in the game if eldar politics. I think people are approaching the with the idea that we will be taking a equal role in service of Isendral rather than a being an unconventional asset that her potential foes currently do not know about.
I think that collectively we approach being an equal, but we're an equal who doesn't know the environment and is socially super handicapped, so we're absolutely going to be following her lead.

Until we have devised a true plan of our own there is no shame in being led. We'll work in her name, for her cause, and in exchange she will care for and improve us as a craftsman improves their tools. Being a tool is a natural thing for us, more natural than breathing, and we have no fear of this. It is not out of dependence or ambition and, should the Prince rise and our patron find themselves with no surviving illusions of superiority, she will find it hasn't changed a single thing. We all serve the plan, even if the plan not yet be written.

I imagine we will some day, when their biology wanes as their psionic birthright blazes ever higher, birth Eldar within spawning pools as we birth our own, each interwoven with the infinity circuits. We are not a people but a process.

For now... we will have needs that will need to be met in order for our goals to be completed. She would be a fool to not use us well.

I'm not sure why we would spawn Eldar in the pools when we can make more skinks or even Slann instead.

[x] decline the offer

I hadn't even considered the possibility of a future schism opening up if we accept. I still think it's an extremely remote possibility, mind you; i'd be more worried about the karmic weight, however small, clinging to us and making our lives subtly more difficult. But it IS yet another reason not to just bail on our friend.

[X] Decline the offer (In the following turn, Isendral will ask you to donate a currently unknown, but significant portion of slannpower in order to unravel the insanity enchantment around the stone before whoever wove it comes looking. You will have a limited amount of time to prepare for their arrival, and the chance of being caught in the crossfire between Dominion Eldar is moderate. You will be allowed to remain on Mochantia, and see the situation through, come what may.)

Accepting leaves us annoyingly open to Eldar Fuckery from unknowns, which I don't like. Even if we get more direct attention from siding with Isendral properly, I'd prefer having a heavyweight in our corner.

Basically there'll be a meter, say 0/100 for example's sake. It's the Dominion Attention Meter, and it represents how much attention you've drawn from the Dominion at large. As you do stuff that draws attention or creates a notable fuss on an interstellar scale, it goes up. When it hits certain thresholds - say 20/40/60/80 for the sake of example - you start getting bored pre-Fall Eldar messing with you with increasing numbers, frequency, and severity. It can be made to go down by stuff like hiding, waiting until it goes down, or bribery. The intended result is that you have to balance expansionism and interfering in galactic events with the need to avoid drawing too much attention and having the Dominion decide you need to be put in your place.

You don't want the meter to max out.

*Glances at the research list, considers normal SV tendencies* I'm sure a reasonably amount of turtling can be arranged.

Hence the reason for this vote at all, really - if you don't think it's worth the risk to tangle with the biggest fish in the galaxy while you're still planet bound, Isendral's offering a get out of jail free card. No penalty if you decline it, I'd just be prepared to commit to advancing that plot, even if it means such sacrilege as sub-optimal research turns.
Plus there's the bit where even if you stop Slaanesh itself, there's still the entire galactic empire of supreme shitlords that MADE Slaanesh

I mean TBF, they're probably going to exist in some capacity even if we leave. If we don't we might get more Eldar willing to kill them for nearly getting their souls eaten and failing in the duty passed onto the Eldar by the Old Ones.

Longtime lurker, finally decided to get an account. No more, I say! No more isolation. No more inaction. No more sitting in the shadows, waiting to die alone. We are the Children of the Old Ones. We will stand before the Primordial Annihilator or die spitting in its eye! If this is to end in fire, then we shall all burn together!

I do not think the Eldar care about the Old Ones, they do not see themselves as the inheritors of the burden of the Old Ones, but as the inheritors of their place in the galactic lime-light, they are the hegemon and have been for 65 million years. Even dissidents from the Empire did not break off because they cared about some duty to their creators, they broke off because they had the common sense to understand that maybe all the murder orgies were not healthy for the participants in the long run.

In canon 40k, the only people who really seem to actually remember the Old Ones are the Necrons, and even then it's typically only in reference to their legacies that are still running around the galaxy. From what Isendral's said, the average knowledge of a Dominion Eldar doesn't really extend to them beyond having a few myths that reference them, but there apparently are scholars that might know more.

I'll call the vote tomorrow; technically it doesn't effect the next few updates in terms of content, but I'm still busy with moving into my new place so my writing rhythm might not return for a bit longer, and I figure letting plenty of time pass for people to vote isn't a bad thing.

[x] Accept the offer (The quest, as it is, will conclude after this turn. There will be a series of votes to choose the planet, sector, etc of your starting point in the next arc. Any hanging plot threads will remain unresolved, and come to a conclusion independent of lizardmen interference. You are guaranteed a limited duration of time where the Eldar Dominion will ignore your existence in the next arc.)
