I'm not sure how useful Rite of Way would be to the Riders, though, given that they're not entirely physical to begin with.
The original post described them leading the charge to plow through the defenders - I think the idea here is a normal cavalry charge, except through otherwise impassable terrain and with a few terrifying magical riders in front of it, which sounds awesome to me.

Okay, finally caught up! Now I want everyone to know I am voting for option base entirely on memes and cool name value!

[X] [RIDER] The Dämmerlichtreiter
Building on our legend is cool!

Mat: I swear that no binding of Hexwraiths were involved in creating this spell may Verena strike me down if I am lying!
Verena: ...
Ranald: She isn't lying!
[X] [RIDER] Great Cat Knight

Based on this WoB, it would find steady ground as useful as any other cavalryman.

By 'on a Shadowsteed' I mean it would look like it was on a Shadowsteed. It wouldn't be riding on the actual spell, so it would still rely on the rules of physics for locomotion, so it'd still need those legs.

I want to bind a handmaiden apparition as a thief. They can move through mirrors and windows. They can also smell fear, so that could be cool.

I want a noncombat apparition, they look like they have a lot of cool possibilities.

You know, the perfect names for any cat themed Ulgu spell that Mathilde makes would be 'Greymalkin' 'Grimalkin' or 'Grey Malkin', meaning grey-haired cat or grey-haired woman. That's not all, Malkin comes from Malde which is a diminutive of Mathilde, so 'Grey Mathilde' is another making the names even punier.

I seem to recall multiple people suggesting a Spiders manifestation of the Rider should be called Weber's Webbers.

Sadly I think the are too stupid for fetch missions.

I would rather deal with people thinking their are wraiths than wink-wink-nudge-nudge associate them with Ranald, it may not be as explicit as the other one, but it is still too close for comfort for me at least.

He snorts, and busies himself with a long draw from his tankard. "A week ago, if you'd asked me what I thought of applying the lost secrets of golem construction to an Earth Elemental, I'd have thought you even more insane than you have to be for your magic. But now..." He sighs. "If you'd found an ordinary golem, I'd have been ecstatic. But one tied up in Elven wizardry, a relic of our failed partnership with the Elgi of that floating rock of the Great Ocean..." He waves a hand at nothing in particular. "Five Runes, you say. I'd travel to the end of the world to see something with five Runes in it. But five Runes carved into the soul of an Elemental? I can't even look upon it. I wouldn't know where to start on reverse-engineering it. It's not an opportunity, it's a reminder of how far we've fallen, that even I cannot begin to comprehend what my Ancestors built here."

"Are you giving up, then?"

"Of course not," he says, giving you a withering look. "I'll spend the rest of my life trying to make sense of the damned thing, assuming we all survive today. I'm just well aware that I'll fail."

Kragg sounds like he needs all the help he can get, so I'm voting for giving him the best clarity we can.

An argument in favor of the The Dämmerlichtreiter is that we have the coin on it (and it has not been used yet), we invited Ranald to meddle in our favor. Our hope is that in choosing that form we would get a more controllable or otherwise more useful spell by linking it to the legend of a Stirland's newest protector. Who better to know how to do that to have the power to intervene in such a thing than a Aetheric being?

On another note we may have unintentionally told of Feldman here:
Mathilde: Asks the Lights about Red Riders, has her Gold Wizard friend punch it in the face in front of the College and arts it off
Also Mathilde: comes back in a few turns with a spell that summons a rider

I do not think it is hard to guess what we did at that point and from there is is a small step to guessing what the Golden Hounds are is you know about Dark Hounds.

Dammerlichtreiter seems to have a commanding lead.

Someone posted above about their intrest in seeing what, if anything, comes of basing this apparition on the image, and thus folk tale of the Dämmerlichtreiter.

And how link that might be useful cover to other grey wizard casters when witch hunters start asking them pointed questions in the next few decades.

So while I'm still in love with great (house) cat knight, it would be an ok second option to me :).

Yeah. Mathilde seems to be expressing her disdain for Sigmar in the form of... doing things he would approve heartily of. If you don't know she hates Sigmar then you couldn't tell from her actions.
"That useless Sigmar... I'll do my own set of Sigmar-approved actions! With blackjack. And hookers.

In fact; forget the blackjack, and the hookers!"

When we present it to him, I really hope Egrimm and Eike are present, because this is in no way a solo project.

The obvious second option is The Penumbral Pendulum, which seems perfect against single large targets (is there a better option from any of the lores?). While I think it would be cool to learn The Penumbral Pendulum, anti single large target may just be a niche that Mathilde can leave to battle wizards.
I actually came to the opposite conclusion; both Pit of Shades and Penumbral Pendulum sounded more suitable as AOE against groups of enemies to me, which is why I prefer the single target cats/Demigryphs/Wolves so that the college gains a capability in it's Spellbook that is missing so far.

It's horribly fragile when cut that thin. It worked for the tower because it was being sandwiched in place by solid rock, but in something that's going to be moving around it wouldn't last very long.
...Hmm. What if it wasn't moving around, though? Meaning, what if we built the Visual Seviroscope as the equivalent of a CT scan machine instead of as the equivalent of a very finicky microscope, and you moved whatever you wanted to look at into the stationary apparatus of the Seviroscope instead of moving the Seviroscope to whatever you wanted to look at?

There's a range of possible materials with various drawbacks and advantages. If it's the only way to make it work, Mathilde will settle for a stationary version of the visual seviroscope, but that's not going to be her first resort.
