I think people are expecting to much on Great Britain. Great Britain is opposed to a hegemon in Europe which is true but usually that doesn't mean they enter a war unless they diplomacy isn't an option. Usually what Britain does is make a deal with the offended party and then force the offending nation to accept those terms. The way i see this going is French getting offended does a bunch of postering so Britain intervenes and work out a deal where Germany is forced to give a major concession to end the diplomatic crisis in a peaceful manner.
In short all i expect from not just ending this crisis immediatly is for the French to fuck us over even more.
