[X][Aino] Go as Usagi. Say that Minako is currently staying with us for now, and we want to hear the parent's side of the story. If we are refused at the door, call Sakurada and Artemis for backup.

Simple, sweet, and effective. If they don't want to have a simple chat with Minako's friend coming to ask why she's staying with her and not her family, then she can explain it to the police superintendent who knows Minako from her 'community service' and wants to know why she isn't living with her parents.

Here's my take on the lead plan.

[X][Aino] Go as Usagi. Say that Minako is currently staying with us for now, and we want to hear the parent's side of the story. If we are refused at the door, threaten to keep asking to be let in loudly for as long as it takes well in view of the neighbors and any passersby.

I want to run the full gamut of school drama anime intervention techniques before escalating to the police or the talking cat.

Just so you guys know, there are multiple different end states that can come out of all of this. Some better than others. A few might even completely finish the arc, for better or worse

Hm...

I'm liking this the most, I think...Let's not make threats. Let's perform actions when they are needed.

I do think we should have Artemis with us the entire time, and Sakurada on standby, with the magical contract having been released if possible.

If Artemis doesn't need to participate, he can just be the good cat Minako is holding for comfort.

I don't know about you but I can't imagine a situation where a uniformed officer, let alone a police superintendent showing up on my front porch and politely asking to be let in doesn't feel like a threat.

Hell when I received a summons by the sheriff for a lawsuit I knew with absolutely certainty was delivered to the wrong [insert legal name here] I still shat bricks straight for a month.

My thought: We go in as Sailor Moon. If they care what people think, they'll definitely care what SHE thinks. Someone Important gets to say things a little girl never could.

The key here is that we don't involve Sakurada coming to the door unless we are refused entirely. We don't even mention her at first.

The problem with going in with or as someone whose opinions that the Ainos care about is that they're not going to be as forthcoming as if they were talking to a nobody teenager.

That's still way too much of an escalation for what is a reasonable response to a stranger coming to your door and it would be well within their rights for the Ainos to refuse and call their lawyers. I know I would.

Let Usagi play the role of nosy overly invested friend, not arbiter of law enforcement.

My fear is that by going in as Sailor Moon, secret identities aside, it sends the wrong message from what we want to achieve when weighing in "90's Japanese Sensibilities".

I'm not really a fan of any of the plans put forward so far, but not really confident in my own ability to come up with a better one. Still weighing my options on what to vote here and waiting to see if someone else comes up with something better than what I've seen...

This almost sounds like a trap of "perfect plan with perfect rolls" to come out in one turn with a "best" resolution. I guess nothing for it but to see how it goes, but at this point I'd almost prefer a more drawn out arc as long as the outcome ends up being a "best for everyone" compromise that no one really likes but that we all can live with.

Gonna toot my own horn again:

Code:
[][Aino] Plan Actually Plan
- [][Objective] Figure out why the Aino family doesn't want Minako back
- [][Team] Artemis, Sakurada, and anyone they recommend.
- [][Preparation] Confer with team to develop a more detailed plan
- [][Preparation] Remove NDA if possible
- [][Approach] As Usagi, friend of Minako, and ask to hear the Aino parents' side of the story

Get more people who know Minako to help us plan, then actually plan this out with our character skills and the IC knowledge of the other characters, before Usagi knocks on the door, rather than playing "read the author's mind"

I definitely not meaning to try and lay any traps, but I can see how that statement could come off that way. This is at its core a very complex issue for Minako, but that means that there are multiple different ways it could come to a close

Maybe not an intentional trap on your part. Psychologically though? People are going to want that picture perfect easy resolution, now that it's been mentioned explicitly, and my fear is that in attempts to find it we'll only make things worse in our meddling.

I mean, just look at the contention over whether or not to bring the Superintendent and Artimis with us is stirring up. :V

High Score Scramble Part Finale
This all turned out to be a lot heavier than would have been expected for a 'relax at the arcade' action.

Things I took away from this update:
- The Aino parents are people who demanded a perfectly square-peg daughter for the perfect square-hole life they chose for her. And threw a tantrum when she didn't want to fit.
- Minako is gender casual, more or less. And Makoto has a healthy respect for the mind-bending effects of an incautiously used transformation device.
- We really aught to learn flight. For bragging rights the vast utility it offers if nothing else.

Imagine if one day Moon just...scoops one of the girls up and floats away. No explanation.

Minako: Scoops up Rei
Artemis: Scoops up Minako
Luna: Scoops up Artemis
Usagi: Scoops up Luna
Tux: Scoops up Usagi
Chibi: Scoops up Tux
Hotaru: Scoops up Chibi
Setsuna: Scoops up Hotaru
Michiru: Scoops up Setsuna
Haruka: Scoops up Michiru

Totem pole!

So confrontational.

Why?

I would much rather be rejected but know why, than have Minako grudgingly accepted with no idea why.
