(I'm reminded of a sceen in the King's Speech when the wife of King Geroge's speech therapist finds out that the King is in her house. ..."Will His Majesty be staying for supper?" The director did a good job of communicating the starstruck-ness of the scenario.
Sir Frederick Evans: "Ah, memories..."
So, Sailor Moon's at our door? Well show her in! Sailor Moon is interested in Minako... we might get defensive behavior where most people (including Usagi) would get thrown out and possibly told not to return.
It is also conspicuously impossible for them to
force Sailor Moon to leave, since she can teleport and any physical force capable of expelling her from the building against her will would probably bring the house down around their ears.
So that's my thoughts on this. While it will be bad in the short term, I kinda want the Ainos to be (human) monsters so we can cut them off and tell Minako that she can do better. Because she absolutely can - she has us (Usagi and the Senshi).
On the other hand, getting the Ainos to be better people would, itself, be a victory that frankly I think is more in line with the themes of
Sailor Moon.
The idea that you
can redeem bad people who aren't actually threatening you, instead of casually obliterating them or casting them out of your life forever, is... well, it sometimes has some friction with SV culture in some ways. I think that happens... for reasons I'm going to not go into at the moment. But I think it's an idea worth holding onto on a personal level, and
Sailor Moon lends itself to that.
I'm more referring to...can we trust her parents in general. Not just nebulous threat of evil, but can we reach a point where Minako will feel safe doing so?
If we find evidence of magical or mental tampering that we can't safely handle, we can't trust them. If Minako's parents turn out to be bad, in whatever form that may take, we can't trust them.
I'm saying let's leave the Senshi reveal to later, when we have a better grasp on the situation.
That's very likely to leave us in an impasse where the Ainos don't know what this girl who's
allegedly their long-missing daughter and her companions are up to, refuse to show us much respect or accept our right to talk to them and force them towards the kind of conclusions we desire, and then we decide that they are "bad" and can never be trusted. Because they, in turn, didn't extend unlimited trust to someone who offered no
bona fides and no explanation for what the hell happened or where their daughter's been for the past 12-18 months.
I mean, I'd like to think I'd never act the way they have, but I'd sure as hell be
suspicious and worried in their position, and particularly suspicious and worried about anyone who was being extremely vague about what had happened to Minako.
If this is what we need in order to get in the door... then it's probably also a recipe for Mama Aino to spout off about it in public.
If we can't get in with high DIP and a police officer... then we need to consider another tack.
The problem is that pretending to be a police officer is openly fraudulent.
Unless you mean "bring along an
actual police officer," in which case we need to talk to
@Lunaryon about bringing Superintendent Sakurada over.
I wonder if Moon Healing Escalation can break the compulsion Artemis put on her. I'd expect that to work.
