On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

[X] [Campaign] Push on: Strike once more, attack, hopefully break through and destroy the next Fimir City. Campaign continues. Losses from this point will not be replaced before the campaign season ends. The Fimir do not have a chance to prepare, but neither do you.
[X] [Snorri] Write In: Perhaps a change of approach is in order. Burn a path, such that the Throng marches in your wake through ash and dust instead of swamp and rot. The forces of the Plaguefather shall be sterilised in the fires of Skarrenbakaraz.

Writing in an altered plan for Snorri to better utilise the effects of Skarrenbakaraz, in light of the logistical and environmental issues the Throng is facing. Make ourselves a giant target, have the Throng march towards the ash storm, as it cleanses and sterilises everything in its path in fire, ash and lightning.

Hmm, thinking on it some more, part of the reasons we've done so well up to this point is that the Fimir kept expecting the typical Dwarven Throng and got thrashed when they found out the North does things differently. This affected Nurgopolis a lot less because they probably have the second best air force next to Tzeentcheville to counter the Brana and their specialization in turbo-swamps isn't as affected by our silly amount of Runesmiths the way Undivided's spell fire and basic bogs were. This is further augmented by the fact that grinding attrition warfare is the one thing Nurgle is better at than Dwarves.

Retreating will give them more time to tailor their defenses but it also gives us the oppertunity to shake up our strategy again and catch them off guard for the second time.

Let's do it, Skarren vs Nurgle.

@soulcake is this write in okay and if so what snorri opinion on it?

[X] [Snorri] Continue Storm. Don't stop doing what's been working so far. Of all that could change for the next time, whenever it happens, your part is not one such thing. Snorri continues to fight away from the Throng.

With this, if we Win the First Round and win the First Magic Round (very easy to win the Magic Round), and win the Second Magic Round (also easy) then the Nurglites need to sweep us in the Second Combat Round in order to even tie.

Also supporting this, it seems viable. @soulcake when you are available, please have a look at this write in and judge its viability.

Master Rune of Adderspite (Armour): The bearer of the Rune suffers no ill effect from poisons or plagues, and instead turns their wrath upon the would-be poisoner, whether it be an opponent wielding a poisoned weapon or the saboteur who befouled a well or stream the bearer drank from. While also effective on poisons placed on food and drink, the mortal insult made to the host by arriving to a feast in armour bearing this Rune is a more likely source of mortal peril to the wearer.

I'm agreeing that we are going to need to figure out how to turn regions into burned wastelands, if this keeps up. At least for the purpose of making corridors and causeways of fused rock, carbonized plant matter, and vitrified soil.

I don't care if this applied through mundane means or if we need to construct a pathburner siege engine that fucks landscapes into submission.

Glass Nurgle. Glass Nurgle with the wrath of the Earth.

if write in works, future project, The Path of Snorri, an entire road network built upon the flattened burned landscape of Snorri's travel done to prepare the land for road building. (joke)

Xepheria has a good plan here. Tweaking my vote.

[x] [Campaign] Retreat: Fall back, rest, recuperate and prepare for the foe. Return to normal turns, go through the Rune Trades. Both sides are able to prepare for the next round of conflict, and efforts to bring in Valma and Igna will be made by the Dwarfs.

The Fimir are here and fighting their hardest even after losing 2 cities.
Worst part is that we haven't even seen them. That's a terrible sign. Unmanned defenses and we still can't make a dent.

We can't make headway past this current slog and there's no way to outlast a nurglite. We probably should have gone for Khorne in hindsight.

But we've exhausted our first strike advantage, we'll need another army (elves) if we want to occupy if not outright take out the khornate second city.

Elves might fare better against Nurgle than we are doing and we could try out our chances against the Blood god.

So we should go home and get reinforcements + some pointy eared friends who know how to fight chaos. Maybe we can meet Malekith (and fix/eliminate him).

with our luck, we push through no problems because the fighting earlier was them sending everything they could

I think we need to destroy the Nurgle city then withdraw and see if we can get reinforcements from the rest of the empire and any elves we can find. even if we have to pay mercenaries to absorb most of the losses for the rest of the campaign we can afford it.

I fear everyone is suffering from sunk cost fallacy. Snorri by himself won't be able to carve/burn out this path because the army is too big.

Let's not get into a meat grinder. We have another meat grinder right after this one.

Errant thoight: How many daemons did we solo kill and will we get power ups for it?

I mean, at that point we are more or less making Valyrian Roads from ASOIAF or those burned into place by the various White Mages of The Saga of Recluce. Its not unprecedented and, while its no Underway, it'd do in a pinch.

Its just an issue for next century.

Wise words. The Library comes first. One mega project at a time.
Would allow non dwarves to come and learn easily. Would shape the future of the dawi so much more than previously thought possible.

Letting the Daemons reknowned for resilience and being utter quagmiric assholes fuck around unhindered some more is a bad thing that outweighs any benefits gained from regrouping and taking a rest.

No respite. No mercy. Only Grudge and Fire, until there is no more left to give.

You are probably correct but we all see which way the wind is blowing. If we are going to strike we need to strike in the least stupid way possible.

Regardless, win or lose, this is the last blow we strike in this campaign. We'll marshal a far more wicked weapon of vengeance in a second campaign.

The ideal would be to provide the tools necessary to start other dawi on their own great projects. They receive the power, the renown, and we get to see the world shine a little brighter even if our name is but a footnote in regard to these projects.

I'd be ecstatic for another to become the storied Road Burner.
