Well, Mathilde repeating what bluebird said is actually repeating it with the legitimacy of a Lord Magister. I think it's actually rather different if Algard hears of somedaemon claiming Mathilde is an Everchosen Candidate and of Mathilde repeats the assertion of somedaemon claiming she was an everchosen candidate.

We probably shouldn't go into the Chaos Wastes anytime soon at any rate.

And damage the mystique Mathilde spent twenty years building? No thanks.
I have a feeling the decision would get a smidge harder if either had, say, the Grimoire Necronium in their back pocket.
You can't ever really be sure they don't...

For what it's worth, I think if the Empire tried to disappear Mathilde-

Well, as far as the Karaz Ankor is concerned, legally she's a Dwarf with pulling a dwarf hold directly from the Warp as a personal feat of hers.

It would get, uh, thorny very quickly.

I'm going to be honest, I don't particularly care what goes through by this point. Any and all of the options have upsides and downsides, and while I lean slightly towards telling Belegar what happened, it doesn't really seem necessary. The Colleges is definitely a YMMV.

Belegar has right to hear about things happening in his Karak.
The Colleges on the other hand should not be bothered with Tzeentchian lies

Well I will at least try to mitigate the damage, people seen to have realy mised how the the Daemon dared us to torpedo the waystone project and are now rushing headlong having missed the temptation.
Personaly I blame Gunnars for making us fell invencible.
Oh and before I forget, I know people fell Belegar has a right to know(even tought there is nothing more to worrya about), but don't forget he wont be the only dwarf learning considering the update.

I am currently leaning away from telling the colleges about the demon, and if we're not telling the colleges then we shouldn't tell someone else about it, that's asking for trouble down the line.

May update in the morning after seeing arguments or just to strategically shift the vote.

I see this as a catch-22. Damned if we tell, damned if we don't. It's only a question of degree if damage.
If we tell nothing now and it comes to light later, if will lose a lot more trust and put everything in the meantime, and even before, into question. Who's to say this was the first meeting with a demon, after all.
If we disclose our meeting or even our apparent candidacy, it will be a hit to our rep, yes, and will lead to some more scrutiny in the best future. We can deal with that. But it isn't a lever in enemy hands anymore, ready to unseat us at the worst moment. And guess what? Algard and Starke know the mind games. If we tell them, they'll know how to deal with the information, and can prepare for when the enemy tries to use it. That's half of Starke's job. Recall our meeting with him over our failure to turn the Wurtbad watch to Ranald. Crippling us over this would just play into enemy hands, and they know that at least as well as we do.

So bite the bullet and trust our boss and comrades to know their jobs.

Waystone research is kicking into high gear , AV is close to paying off with the morbs, and there's a high chance of Mathilde running off to Brettonia to poke a stick at Chaos soon. Full disclosure seems like it would hurt way more than it helps right now, especially when it's mostly based on the word of a demon.

I don't know why people are voting to tell Belegar about the weakening of reality when Mathilde said it was temporary and would go away within hours at most, but if the thread really wants to scare a dwarven king who knows nothing about magic by spouting off a factoid the expert (Mathilde) thinks would create unnecessary panic....

And as for the College, just tell them Mathilde miscasted and a Minion of the Changer took the opportunity to break causality to yell at her about how she needed power to prepare for the next Everchosen, and when Mathilde ignored the obvious bait, the Chaos Birb then began yelling about how auditions were going on right now, and heavily implied that candidates were being vetted, and spouted names that shouldn't be checked, with the implication that the 13th Everchosen was going to happen within the next several dozen years, and that Mathilde would *of course* be instrumental in stopping them.

Now, obviously this is important information, and just as obviously it's a pile of horse crap, so this is Mathilde doing her job as a good employee to tell her boss to fact check all the smelly words from the most untrustworthy of sources while she gets back to saving the world... and oh look, a daemon check. Good thing it failed, and Mathilde can go Mathilde again.

I'm not particularly paranoid here. Algard was explicitly surprised we hadn't gotten Tzeentch's attention earlier. That we report it once we do? Not too much of an issue. After all Tzeentch can be assumed to be interested in literally every Lord/Lady Magister.

The dwarves don't need to know about the temporary damage to the veil because frankly it isn't that unusual and isn't severe enough to be an immediate threat.

Report to Belegar:

Belegar deserves to know about the tear in reality, even if it will heal. The daemon I guess maybe we can leave out, but probably shouldn't. But the tear will heal soon according to Mathilde, so maybe it's not that big of a deal...
Fuck it, I'll just say "tell him something" and let the thread sort it out:
[X] [BELEGAR] Greater Daemon
[X] [BELEGAR] Weakening of reality

Well, if Mathilde sees no point telling the Colleges about the encounter without giving them the daemonic information, best not tell them at all. I guess adding one datapoint to the Everchosen thing isn't that bad, but I'll rather err on the side of caution here.

[X] [COLLEGE] Nothing

Though I do think that if we must say something we might as well mention our source, so the Grey College knows how careful they should be about this. So if it comes down to the other three options I think I'll approval vote 'Everchosen and Greater Daemon'.

[X] [BELEGAR] Daemon and weakening

For all I just said that disappearing Mathilde could get thorny for the Empire, I *also* think there's enough people who might think it worth it that it's not worth risking.

See that is the trap in my opinion, people are so focused on the standart way this tends to happen in fiction that we are forgetting the greatest danger of keeping quiet is that in the future someone may accuse a grey wizard of keeping secrets, as if that is news, and missed how the daemon tempted us to tell the truth between the lines
