So did Circe manage to hijack the Servant dream thing, or was that her using Clairvoyance to talk to someone in the future? Because I'm not sure which is more impressive.

Clairvoyance would be the skill a sourcebook would call it, but this isn't Circe the Servant. This is Circe the Goddess, in the Age of The Gods*. She can sense when the connection is being "retroactively" made, The Root is above time and space and thus can make the Throne of Heroes do that shit, and react to it. Because she is in charge of that piece of the world, that piece of a legend written into history.

*That line's been fudged a bit with new lore moving the date from Camelot's fall to when Gilgamesh won against the gods, but Medea's claim to fame is that she was a Magus from "The Age of The Gods", which is why she was BS enough to make a mortal fight to the tier of a Servant. So I personally call those end and start points of a decline, Medea's kinda in the middle.
 
CIRCE! CIRCE! Oh, how I adore that crazy master witch. (And I still think the interlude between her and Odysseus was awesome).

That said, I fear that a boon from Circe could very much be like a boon from Dresden Files' Leanansidhe - i.e. if she thinks we're safer as a pig, a pig we shall become.

I mean, she's clearly in the position of power, control, and knowledge here. If anything she'll probably seduce us!

Yah at most he might eventually be a third maybe second rate magus (by age of gods standards) also he's not gonna seek the root just for roots sake

Also, inevitably, we'll get one where all the choices have unfavorable circumstances, and then the option of a write-in is just Shirou being Shirou and refusing the accept the injustice in front of him.
