Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Its still Friday the 21st.
According to Arc 2 Post 9, we left for Menominee in the afternoon.
That afternoon you were...
[] In Harry's car outside a quiet suburban carwash you cannot believe belongs to Marcone waiting to speak to the man himself about where he had gotten those bones from
[] In a small rural county so different from busy Chicago you could not believe it was only two and a half hours drive following up on a tip Harry got from some Wyldfae about a man who might know something about rage spirits and what it takes to bind them
Two and a half hours each way, plus however much time we spent inside Menominee Township and at Old Man Mathews place.
That means at least six hours have past, and this is sometime after 6pm.
Probably later. Much later.

Then there's all the time spent on the FBI stuff and then going to find Father Forthill.

Another 2.5 hour drive to Menominee would put us there no earlier than 9.30pm, probably later, and the township would have shut down for the day. Noone to question or persuade for a copy of their surveillance camera footage of the previous day.
So the priority is local Chicago stuff first, then return to Menominee in the morning of the 22nd, being a Saturday.

My opinion at least.

[] Go back to Harry's place, make sure Mouse's OK and no on e tried to break in

Check in on Mouse.
Dresden can call Molly on the prison landline if its important, or ask Father Forthill to call her cell with a message.

QUESTION
1)Does Molly have a particular place in mind, or is she just looking to wing it?
2)What is the likelihood of anyone being awake or open at 10pm on a Friday in a small township?

EDIT
3)Would she go alone, or would Michael come with?
4)What is Charity's opinion of all this? :V

And I'm doing a write-in:

[X] While you're busy with other matters, have Clippy go over our route from GPS and public data, and make a list of potential sources of the footage we need organized by probability of having what we need and location. Have everything ready to go when we start looking for that alibi.

Molly's plan is start with Matthews and then look to see if there are cameras and ask about those. If people are asleep wake them, they can get their beauty sleep later, there is an innocent man in jail.

I feel like you're jumping to conclusions here.
It's certainly possible that they're doing that.
I think it's also possible that there is no "they" organized enough to do that, there's one guy ordering Dresden's arrest for murder, a second guy giving orders to recruit Dresden out from under the first guy, and several different minions stepping on each other's toes
That's ridiculously incompetent though, enough that they're actively untrustworthy on it alone.

This is a federal law agency, you don't run it by having a bunch of guys phone it in every day. There are checks and balances and chains of command to help avoid issues like this. Running a dangerous grey working group investigating something like the DF supernatural community is the time for your A game, not affable stupidity.

A situation like you describe is ripe for abuse by smaller actors, and can't even be predicted in that behavior with the consistency of a well commanded corrupt group.

You know, this sounds like an excuse for a nighttime shintai fight far away from any inconvenient urban witnesses.

I'll bite.
Hope Molly spent some time in a bleach bath, or we're gonna be short on Essence though.

its late by now, and theholy lawyer knows aboutlegalese more then us. besides its a serious concern that someone might break into his home. either the mystical foe that framed him, the agency to look for blackmail material or something useful, or the cops for their own investigation into the alledged cop killer.

maybe even someone else, decidin to use the opportunity.

I mean, to rub it in? Dresden has worked for everyone from Chicago SI to the local university looking for signs of Bigfoot to the archeologist parent worried about their half-bigfoot kid falling sick in boarding school, to a mother whose children were being terrified by monsters under the bed.

They could have hired him openly as an FBI consultant; the FBI hires all sorts of strange people to consult on cases, from academics to convicted felons(see people like Frank Abignale) to occasionally psychics. They could have hired him covertly through a shell company and tried to see what they could learn.

They could have sent an undercover agent to get into his circle and seek instruction. They could just have surveilled him from afar.

They had legitimate options.
They chose none of them, and settled on the one option just short of outright framing him for a felony themselves.
Not sure why they would expect cooperation, or at best a couple weeks before the wizard leaves the country.

They seem to be treating him as if he's not a guy they want to recruit, but as if he's a low level guy in a criminal organisation that they're trying to flip on his bosses.

This doesn't suggest that they have a positive view of the White Council.

Dresden works as a "make this thing we can't handle go away" kind of consultant. That's not what FBI wants. They want "sit and explain, while being documented, political intricacies and weaknesses of known supernatural factions, including your own, so USA government can have primacy of force in its own territory". That's a completely different type of job than what's Dresden is doing, and puts his loyalty to White Council in jeopardy.

I mean think of the White Council from the perspective of US law, secret executions and wars with other factions included. Do they seem non-criminal?

Going back to Menominee right now is a mistake. It will be too late when we get there to do anything meaningful, and it will leave Harry's apartment seemingly unguarded. If anyone is going to try to take advantage of that, it's going to be now. We can stay there overnight, keep Mouse company (Mister doesn't need company, he's a cat), feed them, let them out for bio breaks, and take a nice, soothing bleach bath to recover our spent Essence.

And while that's happening, Clippy can be gathering data for us as @bengalqueen suggested so that we'll have a solid roadmap of potential leads to follow tomorrow morning.

[X] Go back to Harry's place, make sure Mouse is well and that no one tried to break in.
-[X] Call home and let Charity know you're watching Harry's apartment for the night since he was kidnapped by the FBI. If she argues, let her hear the recording Clippy made. Ask Michael if he knows any of Harry's friends who might be available to house sit for Harry longer term (such as Thomas, though Molly doesn't know that, IIRC).
--[X] Take a bleach bath to rapidly recover Essence. While you soak, have Clippy go over our route from GPS and public data, and make a list of potential sources of the footage we need organized by probability of having what we need and location. Have everything ready to go when we start looking for that alibi.
---[X] Early the next morning, after securing Harry's apartment as best we can in his absence, we'll head back to Menominee to start looking for that alibi.

There's still a lot he can tell them before shaking his loyalties.
Including important stuff on the Laws, Fey-rules and bloodsuckers.
