Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

The issue is that they're at the parties where the normal people hang out, because even gods and dragons and Santa can keep it on the down low well enough to enjoy such things. You can't go to those parties with your demon god aura showing because then it stops being a party.
I think I'm having a different read on the flaws?

Because I would have guessed that it makes mortals avoid us at a party, but not that it ruins the party all by itself.

Honestly that encapsulates what I DON'T like about your new flaw selection.

Its too... safe. Most of those drawbacks are easily ignored or something we were going to have to deal with anyway.

Molly was kidnapped, tortured, and only broke out by essentially selling her soul to a demon to gain the wicked power she needed to save herself, Dresden, and her mother.

That should have consequences. Consequences she can face head on as she wrestles to understand and control her new condition.

Bad dreams? Having the vague and distant disapproval of the winter court? Denarians being our enemies? Disliking Fetches? Not being able to garden without heavy gloves? Oh no!

On top of just kind of being... tepid? Dealing with them also doesn't really make for a very good story. Its mostly just stuff that is completely superfluous to the character.
Which is kinda fair, but deciding to dumpster almost all non-violent interaction in favor of overwhelming fighting power is going to far in the opposite direction. It turns the game into nothing but a murder hobo mulching baddies interspersed with angsting to her head demon because she can't talk to anyone else. It's not really a better option.

Hey, that's what the newer plan is for. It's definitely my favorite of the three, and keeps some interesting flaws. I still think the YA plans has too little flaws going on.

Vengeful [Fetch] and cold touch seem just right in particular.

It doesn't exist unless the vote passes. Imagining a hypothetical being and calling not taking the path to instantiate it murder is logically dubious.
He did show up in the story actually, he just going to be completely dissolved because were not taking any dots in Demonic Advisor.

As opposed to the boring and meaningless flaws that are taken for the other plans?

And I do like the stupid high school plan better. I am just incredibly pissed about killing our demonic advisor. He probably knows a bunch of shit that would be really helpful. And DP included him in every single one of his example plans.

Here are the three main ones in contention.
Eerie Presence:

-Eerie Presence (2pt. Flaw): Mortals have an unconscious awareness of your undead nature, which makes then anxious and ill at ease in your presence. Because of this, difficulties of all rolls relating to social interaction with mortals are increased by two. (Vampire 20th Anniversary)

Cold Breeze:

-Cold Breeze (1pt. Flaw): A chill wind follows you everywhere you go. While it may make for dramatic entrances, this effect also discomfits mortals (+1 difficulty on all appropriate Social rolls) and marks you as obviously supernatural. Cold winds sweeping through executive offices or crowded nightclubs can raise all sorts of questions. (Vampire 20th Anniversary)

Touch of Frost:

-Touch of Frost (1pt. Flaw): Plants wither as you approach and die at your touch. Your touch leeches heat from living beings, as though you were made of ice. (Vampire 20th Anniversary)

-Touch of Frost (1 point): A nimbus of cold surrounds you. At the slightest touch, plants wither and die. If you stand near still water for too long, it begins to freeze. This makes you very easy to find, increasing the difficulty of rolls to stay hidden or concealed by one.
Eerie Presence makes normal people unhappy with us, which is bad, but Cold Breeze and Touch Of Frost make us a walking masquerade violation that's not very fun to be around outside of, like, a summer beach party or something.

They also nuke our social and stealth scores even harder, on the mechanical side.

There's barely any masquerade to begin with in Dresden Files?

Doesn't the setting not even need wizards to cover shit up because normies and the government self-police their disbelief?

How ghastly, that we might take a flaw that inconveniences us.

As opposed to flaws which do literally nothing because we hate all those people anyway.

I think you forgot to count my vote for Emerald Angel Unfurling
i also want to change my vote for When did my life become a YA Action-Horror story? ,because after thinking on it while I like alectai's plan ,I really want that 5-dot demon mentor and I really like the unga bunga emerald angel ,but again like alectai said it's too powerful for something at the start ,so I'D like to do [X] So Speaks Demon Empress ,because it seems like an acceptable compromise to me ,so I'M going all in on that

Does not count if you post it like that.

[] Emerald Angel Unfurling V 1.3

[] So Speaks Demon Empress

It needs to be posted like this.

I really do want to point out how impressive it is that YA-action managed to fuck up literally the only thing we cant fix later.

Were Exalted. That's impressive.

Err....what? Can you elaborate?
Charms can be bought, backgrounds gained through roleplay, allies made, enemies befriended or placated, flaws negated, and sorcery learned.

Once Usum is dead however he is gone. His essence is eradicated and there is no way to retrieve or restore him.

*Poof* gone.

Ah, yeah. That is part of the reason why I do not want that vote to win. Usum is a character I want to see more of.

*Is* there approval voting? If so, I'll add that new plan, I like it.

[X] So Speaks Demon Empress
[X] Emerald Angel Unfurling V 1.3

There is approval voting. Also as a note @Alectai while the flaws in Emerald Angel Unfurling would absolutely curb most of Moly's social life, her family who all have intimacies with her would not be as affected, they would basically power though the existential dread... other than Baby Harry who is a baby so does not have the capacity to. You would have to stay away from him.

@seidr if you want to change your vote like you said you did, you still have not actually changed your vote. Or posted a new one.

Damn, I didn't even realize YA was missing demon adviser buddy, totally missed that.

Having a demon our shoulder arguing with dad is a major appeal, I didn't think anyone wouldn't pick it.

If we really want to obtain more ancient demonic lore from our Unwoven Coadjutor, we would need to sink in dots into Demonic Guide Background.

Unlike with any other Background, if the Demonic Guide isn't picked now, our Demon will dissolve itself. No resurrection or recall is going to ever work at all.

Most inportantly, if we do choose Demonic Guide, we would be able to summon a bladed weapon that is ready to be wielded at will, making us instantly able to utilize our Melee 5. If we don't, we would be left without an armament to our name. And we have nonexistent Brawl dots, which means that unarmed combat is inapplicable here.

Also, we would be able to see the interaction between our father and our Unwoven Coadjutor. It's absolutely a drama material.

  • [X] Plan: When did my life become a YA Action-Horror story?
-[X] Key Charm Categories: Lanka, the Demon City of the Rakshasas, The Wicked City
    -[X] CHARMS
--[X] Key to the Kingdom (*)
    --[X] Cracked Cell Circumvention (*)
--[X] Without Honor, Without Hope (*)
    --[X] Ephemeral Abrasion Curse (*)
--[X] Green Sun Nimbus Flare (***)
    --[X] Impervious Primacy Mantle (***) (9 Freebies)
    --[X] Tool Transcending Constructs (*) (3 Freebies)
---[X] A comprehensive set of tools for a baby Infernal with ambitions towards both violence and sussing out of secrets. Cracked Cell Circumvention to help escape bothersome scenarios, Without Honor, Without Hope to resist the environment, and Ephemeral Abrasion Curse to give an exit strategy no matter where we should be. Green Sun Nimbus Flare allows for a fearsome stick to wave in the face of Unpleasantries, and Impervious Primacy Mantle ensures that no force in existence can violate Molly's Free Will, and this is very, very important a thing to have given everything else on the table here and our Urge--Nemesis for instance can go fuck itself despite otherwise being a nearly limitless force of corruption, Tool Transcending Constructs is also included, to aid us in taking advantage of our Crafts score. This is expensive at 12 Freebies to get the whole package, but is an excellent foundation to grow on further--and we will grow on this further, given time
    -[X] BACKGROUNDS
    --[X] Mentor (*****)
    -[X] MERITS/FLAWS
--[X] Brigid's Heir (***) (Infernals are quite literally the heirs of Sorcery, their power alone interfaces with the shit going on, this gives us a way to access Ancient Sorcery--over time without jumping through a few billion hoops first)
--[X] Enemy 1 (*) (You will inevitably give a small but noticeable insult to the Winter Court by way of accidentally plundering one of its treasures and getting out alive, that treasure being the Exaltation you now hold. While so much time has passed that perhaps only Crone Winter might remember the truth behind what was claimed, it does mean you have to deal with cocky Fae who want to try and balance the books until you can make amends--or escalate the conflict)
--[X] Enemy 2 (**) (Of all of the powers in the world, the Denarians are the ones most likely to understand the true gravity of what was unleashed here, and it falling into the hands of the child of a Knight of the Cross is... Troubling. While the Fallen themselves might prefer to prioritize the Exaltation bearer's corruption or destruction at all costs, actually convincing their hosts without getting them interested in why, exactly, they're so Concerned about this and gaining certain inconvenient thoughts in their heads is a trial, leading to the reduced rating in this background compared to what it would be if the Denarians did, in fact, completely puppetmaster their hosts)
    -[X] REMAINING FREEBIES
    --[X] +3 Willpower (3 Freebies)
    [X] Emerald Angel Unfurling V 1.3
