Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

A shame, since Usum is literally a one-time deal where we can have Two dos in Awareness, Occult Specialities, and Social Dice adder to all Creatures of Darkness. And it costs only 5 FP.

Also, @CorruptedKing I have made a new 'more even' allocation build, if you want to see it.

Ah, what the heck, going to vote solely for the Demon Empress primarily because I find myself liking the presence of Usum alot in the narrative so far along with them being an extremely nice contrast for Molly. Thus their erasure is not acceptable.

It would be funny if molly got a puppy and called it usum in one of those "ima do it" "don't do it" moments and usum goes to pout in a corner of her soul secretly squealing because the pupper was cute

Why should we give a crap about Usum? He's a demon who barely had a few lines.

The flaws in use make dealing with all people out in the world hard in exchange for saving some asshole who makes us look even more like a Denarian.

Seriously, if we want a demonic evil vizier we can summon one later.

I will say this much, finding an evil demonic vizier like this one would not be easy. Like you can summon demons, but it is not easy by any means to summon demons whose existence was bound to an exaltation for so long. Whether you think that is good or bad is up to you guys.

I think that Exaltations were only given to the most accomplished of the lesser demons in the first place.

Their equivalent to heroic mortals.

If we were to buy it to high dots, will Usum be able to give us a safe tour into the Hells? And can he tell us if there are any caches of demon lore and loot?

Nice, a visit into either the Yomi Wan or Malfeas (Exalted Malfeas of course, not WoD one).

Also for all of you not convinced yet of picking the Demonic Guide. Let me tell you about the possibility of us finding some extraordinary loot in Yomi Wan due to our Demon having a specialization in the topography of Hells.

So, in ExWoD, the Yomi Wan is not just a realm that sprang on its own. It canibalizes parts of the Underworld and the Spirit World at the moment of its conception. And some items of the Underworld and Spirit World often times clogged up the Yomi Wan with so much stuff (like a Soulsteel blade, a wall made out of wood, rubbles made of gossamer, that sorts of stuff) that they piled up on top of each other.

Most of the Yama Kings tend to steer clear of these areas due to how unstable the area is when in coming in contact with their powers, but it's there. Piles, mounds of long lost magical items, spell lores, and other detritus.

Our Demonic Guide allows us to be knowledgable to these territories. And we can claim the items for our own.

Do you want to pass the chance of grabbing a mound of magical items? @BronzeTongue there's quite a real possibility of us finding a mountain of loot.

There's barely any masquerade to begin with in Dresden Files?

Doesn't the setting not even need wizards to cover shit up because normies and the government self-police their disbelief?
The setting waffles on the matter but it's generally assumed that there is an attempt at secrecy of some kind.

Madrigal banked on Harry not being willing to reveal himself as a wizard if a fight broke out at Splattercon!!! and mortal authorities in general are viewed as nuclear weapons in the supernatural world. The unseelie accords basically exist so that conflict is moderated and doesn't spill out into the mortal world (too much). A video of Murphy fighting a Loup Garou got disappeared from the internet.

It's a bunch of gentleman's agreements, a treaty, and willful ignorance on the mortal side pretty much. It's a far cry from the world spanning conspiracies and of the WoD, but it does exist.

Loot is tempting, but we might want to temper our expectations. In DF, the nevernever basically contains pretty much everything outside of the physical world with a few arguable outliers.

Gods have private domains, but with the notable exception of the White God, who is commonly portrayed as being qualitatively different than any other divine entity in the setting, you can sort of poke their domains like they're part of the nevernever. They're just more like fortresses in the conglomerate spirit world than anything else.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Hells were looted to make the nevernever; or that they'd have already been repurposed by things living there if they aren't still under the dominion of their owners.

I'm not against having Usum around, I can see the benefits, but I'd rather not choose to have magically enforced PTSD and lose the ability to touch people in exchange for having him at high dots.

Or in the emerald plan, basically only be able to interact with him and her existing intimacies.

Also does essence regenerate in combat?
No longer, Stunts don't give bonus dice and Essence with each evocative description. The only way Essence can be gained mid-conbat is using Charms that specifically funtions by absorbing the vitae or spiritual energy of our enemy.

Edit: Well, say bye-bye to mountains of loot then. This sucks... we could've find the lost lores of Sorcery and a million other things besides in these dead zones.

On the masquerade stuff; it's important to take note of the usual interactions normal people actually have with the supernatural.

Most gribblies have their own spaces, especially the more esoteric ones with access to territory in the nevernever.

The non hostile ones usually keep to their own business, and stay subtle because it's easier to interact with mortals when they don't try to burn you at the stake for being different. They can also have very different needs and/or psychologies than humans, so it often isn't worth it to poke normals for them.

The ones that interact with humans the most are the predators; who typically prefer striking from ambush and in isolation because humans get more dangerous in a decidedly non linear fashion the more of them there are around.

The stuff that tends to be survivable and out where the average person can see is usually too minor that it's hard to credit as actually supernatural.

Dresden is often present at events where that breaks down, but his whole thing is deliberately seeking them out. His experiences are a biased data set.

Still plenty of loot to be had, regardless of how the vote goes, since we're strong enough to poke the nevernever for stuff the way a wizard can't.

Their are knowledge spirits for example, who love to trade information. They just charge really weird or dangerous rates if you don't have good reciprocal lore. They're common enough that even someone with Harry's magical preferences uses them on occasion.

But with CoE and some carefully phrased questions we can exploit them with much less risk and effort.

Which we can use for spell lore, or possibly convert to physical materials by trading with practitioners.

Well then, after going through the pdf file provided by Dragon with the information inside and some thinking over again. I think I will just revert to my previous position of voting for both as both of them have aspects which I like and dislike. So going for both to indicate my feelings on the matter.

Switching back to just this. Honestly I kind of like the idea not having some shitty demon advisor in our head and instead forcing Molly to wing using her power. If we really need some help, we can ask Harry, especially since he has a fallen angel's shadow squatting in his brain.

Edit: added correction

Although it sits in our head, all Unwoven Coadjutors are all subservient to the will of the Infernal, they are low-level Slaves in comparison to the imposing Citizens, of which the Infernal is one. If we told him to shut up, he will do so until we ever want his input.

He cannot force us on anything, in fact we could force him to do anything we want to the best of his ability.

He has less than zero agency as long as he's with us. Because we're not stuck with him, he's stuck with us.
