Why are people suddenly seeing assassins behind every action?
Dunno. I doubt the Orbs would be responsible for that even if we get them.

There are so many other options.

Assassination Ranking:

Sigmarites find out we read the Liber Mortis
Eshin finds out we wrote Queekish
Tempter gets off his ass about Vlag
A Sylvanian Vampire With A Grudge
Orc Shaman Gets A Vision

Because we're getting to the point where we really should be getting some. And we're a professional assassin. Call it a healthy level of professional paranoia.

You can take it from me that you don't need an intricate Dwarven smokescreen for this.

@Boney: Do the We count as Locals? Or, to put it another way, should one of the we want to work at the Library (at some far future date), would they be prevented from doing so?

They can't. Their 'mind' is centred wherever the bulk of their population is, and anything outside of that is either a Webweaver following simple instructions or a Hunter running on instincts and a list of acceptable prey.

That wouldn't be just the Sigmarites. The 8 College would send after us their best Magisters Vigilant.
Wasn't Egrimm an orphan? Isn't that part of his backstory?
I was just trying to relate to the thread's longstanding mistrust of our Chaos Sorcerer potentialist
He's not mistrusted because he's an orphan, but because in canon he's a traitor.

The orb of sorcery apparatus seems like a huge deal. Fantastic stuff.

[x] Locals

I'm ghost editing my vote here firstly because pickle's argument is appealing but also because the discussion around the spider option that started later in the thread is just not something I want to see more of.

As someone mildly Arachnophic, I really don't want the WE to be a bigger thing in the story then they are.

Also, it's the option that will lock out other races as staff the most, so destroying what actually wanted (mix group book friends) from the boon.

I'm not going to shrink to the heavens if they do, but I'm definitely voting for anything else.

So, does the We winning this vote means they would be splitting the hive? Would it impact the other roles they have in the Karak? (passive defence/silk weaving)

The We have been doing well enough for long enough that they're beginning to consider 'splitting', where a few Egglayers are birthed, given a coterie of Webweavers and an honour guard of Hunters, and go off into the world to find a new home for themself.

You know I really dislike locals, like not that I would hate reading about it, more than I would read about it and feel... nothing at all. It is expected, hell it is what we sold Belegar on back during the charter: multi-racial library of dwarf, human and halfling all singing kumbaya, it just feels like a wasted chance to make something unique, like the Dragon who would treat lore as part of his hoard or the spiders who would see the first coppy of every book as part of their mind and soul.

What about another We in the sense of another We "colony" after they split a couple more times?
