[X] Grasp carefully, and with great finesse (70% chance of Success. Normal Gaol benefits. +1 XP to motion, On Failure, lose Gaol Spiritual Cultivation, and ???)
Actually, being greedy doesn't really get us anything significant at the moment, funny enough. Due to breakpoints, we really could use Motion more, as its harder to raise Motion(things Qi associates with having fun) than Want(things Qi associates with power or connection)
Tree providesXiangmen, Fortress of Tsu Pt. 1: Before the ravening of the Gods, Xiangmen stood uncaring, and in the trunk sheltered all of the people of the Emerald Seas. Against the Gods stood the Diviner, who would see that man was never subjugated again. Alters the Eagle God's Defiance technique. Advances the Motion and Home projects by one step. (0/5)
Yes but hardly anything else.
I mean obviously this isn't going to make or break our cultivation, but like that's kind of the point? This is a relatively low risk environment with a teacher that isn't above setting stakes but who ultimately wants us to succeed. It's not a question of whether we want to take a risk for 20 extra physical cultivation but rather whether we are the kind of person to dare risk losing a little to get a bit more. Because that's the only way to reach the peaks of cultivation. Huisheng is trying to teach us to be audacious, so it's not about how this choice in particular matters but how this vote informs Ling Qi as a character. It's about if she has to make this choice a dozen more times off screen, or how our future vote options will be shaped by this vote, and how she'll make this choice when it's about 200 xp, 2000 xp, when she's Fourth Realm or Fifth and beyond. That's what Huisheng wants to teach her. The important part is that she grasps, whether carefully or hungrily, but the choice sets a lasting precedent.Actually, being greedy doesn't really get us anything significant at the moment, funny enough. I like Huisheng but I absolutely don't trust himBoldness is not unwarranted if we trust our senior to not go overboard should we fail.
Okay this post has convinced me. Xin wouldn't have put this spot on the map if it were truly dangerous.[X] Grasp deep, grasp with hunger. (50% chance of success, Gain +20 Physical Cultivation experience, +1 XP to want. On Failure, lose Gaol spiritual cultivation xp and ???)
Huisheng is a disciple of the Grinning Moon who Ling Qi has equated to boldness and confidence, and the Dreaming Moon who Ling Qi has equated to ambition. He has at every opportunity encouraged Ling Qi to be audacious and grasping and admonishes her when she limits herself out of fear. We can't take the defensive approach which he would outright disapprove of, but I think between being careful and bold he would be pleased if we were bold. Even considering risk/reward for cultivation exp grasping is worth it, meaning if we were to make this choice every time we came here we would be best to always grasp hungrily if we wanted to reach of cultivation goals.
Even when losing, the "???" is likely the possession Sue Yue talked about, which would be Huisheng's equivalent to Zeqing's mark and could be outright advantageous in the long term. Shu Yue didn't think he was malicious and it was Xin who introduced us to him in the first place, so if our elders trust his intentions and we should too. There are only benefits to being greedy here because our teacher is trying to teach us to be greedy, and beyond just this vote if we want a relationship with him then we have to prove that we're what he wants in a student. Because if we dared to risk it and lost I think there's a fair chance he'd still reward us with the "???", because by daring to fail we are most like him and so he might put the true reward on failure. He also enjoys Ling Qi's carefulness around him and maybe he recognizes her characteristic fear as something that will serve her well as long as she still a little greedy, but I think his lesson here is in daring.
