[x] Plan: Phantoms, Presents, and Politics
Something about Phantom Present Pines just makes it feel weak. IDK how else to explain it.@Lampshade and @Karnax626, do you prefer Laughing Wind (Plan: Phantoms, Presents, and Politics) than Xiangmen? (Plan: Phantoms, Presents, and Pines)
Just bc we can't avoid it doesn't mean we have to do it this turn.Yeah, it's a bit of a gamble, but I feel like we can't avoid it.
Like, ultimately our concerns aren't with the general idea - we *want* to work on our work with the Wang group - it's with concerns over the specific implementation. Yrs has been in discord and will have seen our concerns, and beyond that we can't really do the things we want without taking a crack at this project imo.
I don't think dropping the group and all our work there entirely just because we're concerned about this specific action's details is really going to help. We just have to bite the bullet and go for it I think.
We literally just did the Xiangmen arc, there is going to be no better time for this narrative beat. Its fresh in people's memories now. If we wait till next turn, its not going to feel nearly as relevant. It will kinda feel like its coming out of nowhere, like the story is disordered and meandering, like most of Threads has been. The problem with the narrative cohesion that has troubled Threads, impacted its reviews on RR, is the effect the quest has on the plot. We can mitigate that though, by going in a somewhat straight direction with our voting choices--and why not? Narrative cohesion would help Yrsillar and make for a more enjoyable story overall.Even though we just left Xiangmen I don't like adding Tree to BKSD yet, for a number of reasons. We still have two of the four beast kings left, I wanna focus on them a bit and what they and the beasts in general mean to Ling Qi before we start singing about their defeat. Do a few projects about the threats to our home before we do the project about how our home resisted them. It also feels weird to alter one of our phantoms with a representation of the phantoms death before we see how the base Eagle God would change with Phantasmal Mastery. What if the project alters the technique to not be a phantom any more meaning we never get to see LQ truly master the Eagle God? I also feel like the idea of an uncaring Xiangmen fits better with SNR's projects since the Art is all about being uncaring in the face of assault, which would be cool to do together on a turn when we're dealing with home. I just don't love the idea of doing Fortress of Tsu any time soon, because it'd feel like we'd lost something about the Art itself by rushing the ending.
