Also, imagine how proud of us Xiulan will be when we write to her about how we took the initiative to go shopping while we were in one of the greatest and most fashionable cities in the Empire, even if it was mainly for Hanyi.

Man there really is a lot in this chapter to unpack and sort through.

If we are hurt and hurt in turn (Nightmare) and Dreams and Nightmares are just reflections then the opposite is true too. We are healed and heal in turn (Dream).

But these things don't exist in a vacuum, they aren't tricks or illusions. There the reflections of the threads of Society, Community, and Family.

We be getting all Neon Genesis Evangelion up in here it seems.

I wonder, if LQ might just actually have been talking to the full Eight Phase Moon for a few seconds there. The line right before the section you quote, regarding the worth of mortals, has the Dreaming Moon avatar be pushed aside (?) by something even more powerful. Possibly just even more Dreaming Moon attention, however the shortening to just "Moon" and the switch to outdated speech in using "spake" feels significant. Probably have to go back and reread some of the older Moon Aspects/Greater Self sections.

Sure, to set the scene. Up to this point LQ was talking to the Avatar of the [Dreaming Moon], having subsumed Sister Brightsong, the Emerald Dancer. If you check the lines before, they are all denoted as having been spoken by the Dreaming Moon.

However afterwards, as we approach LQ's upgrade in Community there is this line...

Silver light burnt her eyes, made tears trickle down her cheeks.

... and then after the mechanics LQ's dialog partner "powers down" to just being the avater of the Dreaming Moon again.
The light died, and she felt a hand on her cheek, and saw the avatar standing before her with watering eyes. A voice whispered softly in her ear.

Imo in the sections before we are already talking to the Dreaming, so either that Great Spirit put more of itself into the avatar here or The Moon(tm) did. The turning point being a statement about the value of mortals would kind of fit with the latter, since that seems something common to all moon aspects.

Edit: I hope this makes it a bit more clear what I mean? Sorry still no happy with it, but I cant spend more time on this right now.

"How to sister in 1 lesson" is a class CRX needs to be taught, her hangups about family and her belief that to be just, you must be detached will make her an unfeeling monster barely better than her mother.

Well I really highly doubt it was the complete Moon, all Eight Phases together. I think Yrs meant to convey that the Dreaming Moon was present for a moment there, in her entirety, probably bearing down her full spiritual weight on LQ as much as possible without it being an outright tribulation.
If you recall, its basically unheard of for someone to have not 2 but 3 Patrons of the Moon like Ling Qi does. Getting attention from all 8 would be... yeah, no.
