Hmm, lucky we didn't take the Wood Elves options earlier on then. We would only have been back for the aftermath it would seem.

I'm pretty sure Mathilde's involvement greatly accelerated the whole process. As Milica said, she was expecting a single rota, not three pulks and the Kreml Guard. Her response to Mathilde and Mathilde's information about an Asrai warhost put them into maximum battle ready mode. If we had gone for Wood Elves first, their mobilisation would likely be much slower, more methodical, and smaller in scale until they figure out what's going on. It would have meant that whatever is happening in the forest might have escalated however.

Speaking of cats, the internet has poisoned my mind. The Kislevarin word for no is 'nya' but I keep reading that as the Boyar making anime catgirl noises.
I think I have a solution to that. These are all horse people, right? Nya is really close to the to an anglicisation of an exclamation used by horse people in the east of Europe to give commands to the horse. Though that one is usually for going faster, not to stop.

EDIT: I think it might also be for getting the horse to pay attention to the reigns. I'm not sure about that one.

Poking the elves/dryads would be interesting and instructive but might get us killed. And would be of rather less practical value than against greenskins or skaven.

Having more Ice Witches, particularly ones that can speak a language we speak, would be most useful for building Ice Witch rep.
Having infantry would also be great. And is an opportunity to show off our Battle Logistic-Spell.

I'm against messing with the layline, at least in this first vote, because we know too little about what normal conditions are to say if anything odd is happening. And because messing with laylines and Waystones can be very dangerous.
If we bring in the Ice Witches, aka the local layline experts, we can think about doing something productive.

If you read the option again we would not be messing with anything, we would be checking to see if the power that should be flowing from Kislev City to the Nexus is being cut of some where south of the city or if it's flowing out of the city at all. So a lot of looking but no touching.

I find it amusing that Kislev's militia is a match for the Empire's full time Knightly Orders, the shining exemplars of combat prowess in the Empire. This feels ripe for a "Strongest Empire Man vs Weakest Kislevite Man" meme

I think it's more that they are all very good riders. The strengths of the Winged Lancers of Kislev and the Knights of the Empire are different after all and the Gryphon Legion who do a lot of work in the Empire armor themselves much more like Imperial heavy cavalry do sacrificing speed for staying power.

[X] Find the Boyar

Whoever arrives first, Tzar or Boyar, will lead the army. The Tzar is likely to be delayed, so it'd be nice to find out what the Boyar knows and whether he's sus or just unsure.

Dang, kinda mad at myself for not pushing that we recruit a gyrocopter pilot this turn instead of leaving it to next turn. Having the gyrocopter would give us some nice options and flexibility right now, and if we recruited Adela having a bright journeywoman on our team would have been handy for both adventures this turn.

Ah well, you go to war with the army you've got, not the army you want.

So random thought, since we know that it is probably Drycha and her forces which implies that it will primarily be Dryads or other forest spirits then that would mean that they probably suffer from the typical "Weak during the winter" effect that pushed the forest to make it's deal with the elves in the first place.

If so then being this far north probably has a negative effect on them. Which in my mind makes it likely that they might be using the Leyline to counteract the effect of the cold.

This is southernmost Kislev. It's actually further south than Laurelorn is.

They might actually be using it to power that army wide illusion? That seems like it would take a lot of power, at least.
