One of Ling Qi's characterisations that I really like is that she's pragmatic. She would have no problems using her enemy's weapon against them in such situation, and I feel like that's what Ling Qi should express here. Su Ling can disagree - that's her right, but that's what I want Ling Qi's opinion to be.

Tsu the Diviner broke the Chains of the Beast Kings specifically so that the elder blood would have no inherent hold over their descendants. Su Ling doesn't draw power from "her Mother's blood" she draws power from her own blood. Her power, and what she chooses to use it for, is her own. If she has better reasoning than a misplaced sense of guilt she can push back on us, we're here to challenge and support one another <3 hell yeah

Su Ling and LQ work best when their ideas are in conflict, plus it'll make for a more interesting conversation.

I think choosing one option over the other is strange, LQ is all for both stealing tools and forcing change for growth.

It would be interesting if this came up again when people start firguring out the Sun/jungle marriage and LQ is totally in favor of stealing the Red Garden's tricks and only has a problem with Sun Shao forcing the new bloodline on Liling without her consent.
 
So what if it is trauma? Unless you are going to say that it can be fixed, or healed as if it had never been, it's still going to be a core part of who she is, and why she does what she does.

The reason she is in the sect is the same reason as drives her cultivation is the same reason she has a goal in life is the same reason she hates her tails.

So what is her way? Is it to become more like her mother, in the hopes of catching up and surpassing her with the bloodline arts? No! It is rejection of the spirit part of herself, becoming more human in location and friends and self.

Power is not the be-all end-all for all cultivators. I think our foxgirl is more like the radiant serpent of the side stories than the white serpent of peerless power.

If she truly does not like or want it to be a part of her path then so be it; however, I think she is considering removing it for the wrong reasons. The power from her spirit blood isn't her mothers, its hers. Removing it will not make her any more or less of her mothers daughter, and the power itself isn't to blame for anything her mother did. If she decides that it does not suit her regardless and goes forward with it then so be it, but I think we should at least try to say something about it beforehand.

I am unable to definitively concluded which choice is the better moral/ethical answer to give, as Su Ling's friend.

So I, as a player, will vote on the basis that I think Su Ling's foxy traits are cool and I don't want to see them leave the story.

Unless it is somehow blocking her cultivation, discarding power unnecessarily is stupid.

Su Ling making mistake latching on superficial connection. He connection to womb-holder (she's NOT mother in any other way) wouldn't go just because of denying spirit blood. Nor does it make connection stronger. Would she next butcher her face if it would look to her too much like her womb-holder's?

Much as I like how the first choice was worded, I do think this is the best path for Su Ling. If she can't align her Path with her blooming spirit blood, then she should be free to decide just how drastic a measure she should take to move away from it.

this is an unworkable way, this way will destroy her foundation. to cultivate one gives up their humanity to become closer to a spirit. if her way is the reverse of that then she will no longer be able to cultivate. hence why we want her to work out her trauma and not enshrine this into her way
