We're gonna be on a pretty barren wasteland of a fief, and while Precious helps a lot with that, it can't hurt to stack even more advantages on top of Precious. It's important we at least become self-sufficient foodwise as soon as possible if we're going to grow the fief.
It's mostly a matter of terrain. We're settling in a hilly/mountainous region and to the south, where it's colder. It's not ideal farmland in general. We're the direct vassal of the Cai heiress. So long as we're performing to her expectations, ensuring we get good lands is an inherent part of the contract.
