Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
[X] Soil Studies (+10 bonus development rolls in fief)
[X] Insight Sharing (+1 Isolation and Ending XP)

Ok, my view: the soil study will be of much more value in setting up our fief than cash. using cash to get things takes time and effort that we can shortcut here in setting up ways for us to be self-sufficient later.

As for the elixir quest... Cyan Breakthrough is a hugely significant thing. Shortcuts to something like that almost never work out the way we expect. I honestly feel that we should pursue it, that giving Li Suyin and Su Ling the prestige of developing/mkaking it is a great idea... But it will be that much more significant and meaningful and make the breakthrough Ling Qi's rather than something she was helped through. It should be a personal quest that is as much self-realization as it is gathering ingredients, not just a 'simple' fetch-quest.

[X] Rare reagents (Begin Forgotten Elixir Quest, complete Part 1 of 4 immediately)

Getting to the peak of green basically requires an intense journey of discovery in the first place, it just also takes a stupid amount of money and luck to actually make it through on top of that. Getting help with an elixir won't make that journey any less hers.

Frankly even if it did it would be a drop in the bucket relative to the intense support Ling Qi has received and will receive going forwards.

We're literally starting our fief in a few in-game months. The soil studies are vastly more relevant than the reagents.

They are more relevant than the finished elixir would be, to Ling Qi's personal cultivation, right now. There are other potential reasons why the reagents, progress on the quest, or access to that elixir/the process of its creation would be relevant sooner.

edit: To be less hand-wavy, things that have been mentioned in this thread:
  • More time with Li Suyin and Su Ling, and more opportunity for them to demonstrate their professional worth. Last time we did shared research we Li Suyin she managed to turn it into a burgeoning undead army and necromancer theme, lol
  • Less time focused on hunting specific reagents that could be be better served focusing on increasing personal responsibilities like fief management or diplomacy. (Also been mentioned as a negative by people who want to go on those reagent hunts, ymmv)
  • A finished elixir/verified method of its creation has significantly more value than just the theory of one, both to compatriots and as a commodity
  • Potential aid in cultivating said reagents either through starter crops or just familiarity with the materials themselves (I wouldn't put too much stock in this, seems like a long shot but who knows)
  • Getting the ball rolling on a potentially long and involved quest so it doesn't have to be rushed and we have more time to work on it efficiently (for instance, feeling rushed at a later date and paying for these reagents)
  • It is a concrete material gain rather than a nebulous bonus that we might highroll and have no use of anyway (again, ymmv)
I probably missed something, but since voting is winding down, wanted to put this out there one last time

I don't think we need another boat to our fief over what may be a significant time savings
