Arguments for Monford:

He's skilled at schmoozing, and managed the violently eager trigger fingers of a bunch of Westerosi Lords, among them being Pointsmen, for the better part of a year and a half, when most of those Lords were reasonably certain Viserys could roll over the Lannisters even back then.

He's got progressive now partly thanks to his daughter's advising him, enough that his views on magic and Imperial policies and even our social preferences (as a matter of culture) that he could probably be a good middle of the road option.

He's loyal. For good reasons. Self-reinforcing ones without unforeseen externalities to worry about.

Also, it is an appointment that surprises no one. He shouldn't struggle to use his newfound authority to run our lands and manage our local interests.

Orestor is a non-starter, since the Undead minority in SD is predominantly enchanters, so people we want to keep happy.
Not to mention that one of our most individually powerful allies, the Sarnori Queen, is a Mythic Mummy who leads several thousand subjects who will eventually be getting the Warforge treatment. Not only do we want to avoid pointlessly offending her, but we also don't want him to end up transferring his prejudice to Warforged. It would not be a rational behavior, but it would be all too likely, IMO.

The Azer has good selling points, but I think that might be a case of too much, too soon. He's not blatantly inhuman in the same way a being like Xor is, but he's still an edge case. He also seems like a bit too much of a newcomer for such responsibility. It's one thing to not blend into the culture, but to not even understand it, that's harder to overcome. He needs a few more years to marinate in Planetosi culture and Imperial politics before being acceptable for such a post.

Yeah I want to give Monford his due and we've seen in quest he's very competent so no worries on that end.

We don't even have a "minister of history" and I'd rather do the minister appointments later when we have more candidates to chose from.

My question is, why have we not followed in glorious Soviet tradition of calling government officials Secretaries?! That's way cooler than minister.

Because I used "Ministerium of X", so "Minister of X" is the logical name.

Also, the US is also using "Secretary of X", so it's not exactly a Soviet thing.

[] Orestor Tynko
+Trade Magnate (Skilled with Finance)
+New Man (A Firm believer in Imperial Economic Policy; Economically Liberal)
+Glad Hander (Makes friends or at least well-disposed acquaintances wherever he goes)
-Fear of the Grave (Is deathly afraid of the Undead and unlikely to work well with them)
-Old Debts (Was once a debtor of the Iron Bank, though the money has been paid

Ahhh. Defaults in your credit history have the same importance as racism.

Unlike in real life, where defaulting on a credit carries vastly greater stigma and repercussions than being a bit racist.
Don't fuck the banks out of their money.

Don't like brown people however? Meh. You and third of everyone else (apparently).

Edit: Language there is a bit obtuse. I'm sure that the demographics of racists is probably a bit all over the place, since some of that prejudice isn't projected outwardly the same.

It's mostly sarcasm commenting on the fact that banks probably don't discriminate on who they take money from, just who they lease it to.
