I would not say we are guaranteed equal potential in our opportunities.One choice is a serious career choice lasting several years (probably) and the other is a month-long party. They're inherently asymmetrical. It would be ridiculous if they had the same upfront potential. However, the choice to go tourney is a risk-averse choice to maintain the status quo. We're guaranteed to get other options after the tourney that will have the equivalent potential of the iceplomat route. But it's a wait and see conservative option. We're the MC; it's not like we won't be getting other shiny opportunities no matter what we do.
So, if you specifically dislike the diplomat route for us, vote tourney and sooner or later we're guaranteed another (probably more empire focused) option of similar or greater potential in six months. If you do like the diplomat route, well then it's now or never.
Saying that because it's shiny it prejudices the vote really underestimates the power of conservatism.

You mean adding a music keyword could lead to ling qi feeling the music of the world more than "hearing" it ?I mean there's negative intent to get rid of the wisps - hell, they're a core part of the current HDW/RME fusion concept!
And I see the exotic music components as just being the higher level mystical expression of how we hear and percieve things? The only reason I emphasise hearing here is because I actually want, you know, basic perception abilities related to that that don't require us to play music. i.e. the big issue with HDW.
I don't like Music as perception, that's much more the territory of MoSS and Social Arts. We chose RME over the Precognition themed CDP because it's not just about finding threats and secrets, it's also about academics and we had just decided the Hidden Moon to us should be about studying history and culture and learning from the past to grow stronger. So I could see RME's wisps to be Songseekers, representations of Ling Qi's curiosity that look for loot, songs and inspiration and share these things with their mistress. Like Sixiang shares their experiences with the Dreaming Moon, meaning they share all of our senses and not just sight. The wisps become something more than just moon eyes, drawn to expressive song and hidden secrets.If we're keeping the Will o'Wisps and changing it to Music, what exactly are those Will o'Wisps doing? They seem most relevant to acute senses like touch and sight rather than ambient senses like smell or hearing. Even if we aren't actually using sound (and we probably shouldn't), Music would probably be the latter.
I could see (hah) a Music based perception that is based on essentially hearing the background Music of the world: LQ would "hear" the suspense of someone trying to sneak up behind her or the triumphant/tragic swell when someone has left themselves open. Particularly momentous occasions would be "louder" and could potentially be perceived from very far away. More relaxed situations might have her mostly "hear" the ambient Music of the location she's in. Also, while single dramatic moments are really obvious, something that slowly creeps up on her could make it so she doesn't notice the building tension in her surroundings until after its resolved.
Additionally proper precognition would be impossible but noticing that something particularly dramatic could potentially happen a bit before it does would be possible. Maybe tie it to the Dreaming Moon and have her be able to come up with a prophecy that is plausible (rather than certain), albeit biased towards being dramatic and based more on musical themes and metaphor than concrete events.
Naturally these perceptions need not be tied to their importance in her own narrative: the death of an Indigo she has never met might be substantially "louder" than that of a close friend who never really amounted to much, though she's definitely going to be paying closer attention to the latter melody. Additionally there wouldn't just be one melody happening at any given time but rather a whole collection.
The result is something pretty similar to RME but missing the defining visual trait for it. For that reason this seems undesirable.

But diplo with the Ice Ladies in that option, getting to be on the ground floor at the start and get to influence everything, is a once in a lifetime opportunity that we will never see again. A new culture to interact with and that we by luck got the right things to come of as trustworthy and reap the profit from.We will have a lot of land management and diplomacy in the future, including with the ice ladies. BUT OUR TIME IN THE SECT IS GREATLY LIMITED TO BEGIN WITH. We should not rush it further

It is not putting it off. The thing is,, these stages will come, so we need to savor our time at the sect and with our friendWe've been spending a lot of the sect time lately spinning our wheels however, we cannot commit to sect endeavors because we already committed to leaving it. Do also keep in mind that for fief setup, it still needs to be done, and later on we'd have less excuse to take control of a strategic location for our barony without a provincial level reason.
The fief still needs to be prepared no matter what, putting it off ten years just gives us ten years worth of time where its not producing any income.
And we will still be at the sect in the ice diplo route. Just less central.
