Prince Aladdin Quest (Disney Villains *Almost* Victorious)

Huh a lot more real nations than I thought.
Well here is a discription of the regions as per DVV. Non-canon for this quest of course since these are post Jafar conquering them.
Agrabah: A far distant land and a faraway place, where the caravan camels roam. It is from this glorious capital that Sorcerer-Sultan Jafar rules one of the largest realms in the world. As the center of his lands, Agrabah is a hotbed of distant travelers and ancient mysteries. The city is prosperous, for a rich land supports great taxes. Above all, Jafar watches from his vast palace, as his many guards and servants enforce his selfish will. Beyond the walls lies a vast and endless desert, with a multitude of hidden wonders. It is even said that deep within the sands, the legendary Cave of Wonders awaits the worthy. Although what, if anything, is to be found there remains unknown.

Mecca and Medina: The most holy cities of Islam and centers of worship. Jafar's grip on this land grants great legitimacy to his rule, and he is careful to keep the clerics and imams of the realm satisfied.

The Fertile Crescent: Birthplace of civilization and home of the first empires. Mesopotamia holds the legacy of mighty rulers such as Sargon, Hammurabi, Ashurbanipal and Gilgamesh, and it chafes under a foreign rule. Jafar's armies often ransack the tombs and burial places of this land, disturbing guardian spirits in search of ancient magics. Uruk, Nineveh, Babylon, Akka, Ur, Kish- the once proud seats of conquerors despise Jafar's uncaring rule.

Persia: This realm adapted well to Jafar's rule. Native satraps have retained much of their historical privileges, though they now pay tribute to the foreign lord of Agrabah in place of their own kings. This transfer has held in no small part through the workings of the Magi, an ancient order of philosopher-mystics who have outwardly hailed Jafar as the next Solomon. But what their true motives are, few know.
At the center of the region lies the magnificent City of Gold, protected by three Golden Balls atop its highest minaret, which are said to grant the city supernatural luck. It is here that the rulers of Persia once reigned, and it is here that the Magi now gather. But rumors persist of an army of war machines hidden in the desert, led by a terrible One-Eyed man, assisted by a former vizier who fled when the king was deposed.

Samarkand and the Silk Road: Gateway to Asia and the riches of the Far East. The path of the trader here promises great rewards but great risk, as trade routes must avoid the wilderness of India by passing near to the Shadow in the north. The few who make their home here are mercenary warriors and dark sorcerers, driven from the Sultan's heartlands and plying their foul trade far from his sight.

Almut: Somewhere within Western Persia are the mountain fortresses of the Nizari Hashashin, a monastic order of ruthless assassins who remain a constant threat to Jafar's rule. Their dark satin robes and glinting blades create terror in the night.

Turkey: While Hades controls the coasts of Anatolia, the interior is still controlled by Turks who swear fealty to Jafar's new Ummah. There they hate the destroyer of the once proud Ottoman Empire, and dream of their resurgence. This is also the home of Mechanicles, a once Ephebian inventor who now creates his mad contraptions for Jafar. Men and centaurs and stranger things can be found here, when the West meets the East.

The Black Caucuses: These benighted mountains hold back the Shadow in the north, in all its dark and unholy terror. Only the truly desperate would ever linger here.

The Holy Land: The Levant is home to Jerusalem, holy city of three faiths and center of Abrahamic worship. If not for the Reconquista in Andalusia, this would almost certainly be the target of Frollo's Crusade. As it is, the Immortal Pontifex looks with hungry eyes upon the birthplace of the faith he has twisted. It is also the site of the once Kingdom of Israel, whose King Solomon was the greatest binder of Djinn ever to exist. And thus, perhaps, home to artifacts that could dwarf even the Sultan's mighty powers…

The Arabian Coast: From the Red Sea to the Persian Gulf, the Arabian Coast is a hotbed of both native and EITC trading, and thus, also of piracy. Two great Pirate Lords claim these waters: In the West, along the Red Sea, the Legendary Sinbad sails in search for treasure when not in Mediterranean waters. To the south, a ruthless but mysterious pirate plies his trade from Somalia to Mocha to Naboombu, and across the Indian Ocean. So few escape him that nothing but his name is known: The pirate lord Jack.

Meanwhile, across the Gulf, a lesser but perhaps no less dangerous brigand is said to sail the first of the Seven Seas, in search for a mythical, magical book.

Egypt: Ancient monuments fill this mythic land from the first cataract to Alexandria. Of note are Hotep and Huy, two High Priests who claim to have renounced their old faith and king, and now serve as enforcers for Jafar's rule. Yet the realm of the pharaohs holds still to their religion, and its people yearn for freedom from the oppressive foreigners that control them. Certain people might find this ironic.

Tunisia: The ancient city of Carthage once stood here, and the city of Tunis now serves as the principal port connecting the east and west of the Islamic Mediterranean.

The Barbary Coast: Historically a center of Berber piracy, the myriad local brigands now share their waters with Sinbad. Under Davy Jones' blessing or merely in the relative safety of the Mediterranean, these pirates compete against the madcap buccaneers of the French Madame Madeline.

Maldonia: Home of Prince Naveen and his ancestors. (Much of this land is determined by DM choice, such as whether Naveen is ruling it or not.) In any case, its distance from Agrabah allows it a modicum of independence.

Timbuktu: Truly at the ends of the Earth. A center for the trans-Saharan trade of gold, salt, and less savory wares. And, possibly, the final destination of a certain group of waylaid felines…

Al-Andalus: From the city of Cordoba, Jafar's servants wage a constant war against the Pontifex's eternal Reconquista. They battle day and night, for fear of disappointing their master…

then in this search those areas are separated, or have other rulers?
The purple outlines are merely because of the fill-in tool I used, and I left them like that because it made them more distinctive. Basically, only one of those areas is the core of Ababwa. The others are satraps that are under the control of their own lords. However they pay a small tithe to Aladdin, and more importantly they will follow him to war if needed. Think of it like the Navy. Aladdin is the Admiral, that's overall in charge but he has captains under him controlling the separate ships and bases.

Huh just saw the map and our nation is a lot larger then I thought but it's also neighboring Persia which if I remember is a major power during these times.

This is shortly after the breakup of the Persian Empire, or else the Sultan would be beholden to them as well. And since the land was just being squabbled over, Genie decided to smooth some ruffled feathers along the way by giving the inner satraps a Prince to defer to who was charismatic and not overbearing. This led to the other Satraps being absorbed into the surrounding powers instead.

Ah ok that makes more sense then since if Persia was around still then they would be the bigger threat then Jafar in all honestly.

There are a lot of typos there, my friend, but I get your point. Still... would we have to worry about any remnants?
Looking back there are a bunch of typos but I was on my phone when I typed that so meh. And I don't think so but the problem is we don't really know how strong they are right now all we know is that they border us so our best bet is to wait and play it by ear, but I don't think they'll be too strong.

That's good to know. One less thing to worry about.

Speaking of Persia, considering Ababwa didn't exist short time ago. It is possible that many countries including Persia will attack Ababwa with reasons such as 'they stole our land'.

Not necessarily. They'd have to get intelligence regarding what happened before making any moves. And for the most part they won't attack but attempt diplomacy with this new rich nation, most likely.

Actually Genie might have 'back dated' things to at least some degree.
Genie decided to smooth some ruffled feathers along the way by giving the inner satraps a Prince to defer to who was charismatic and not overbearing. This led to the other Satraps being absorbed into the surrounding powers instead.
So while Ababwa technically hasn't existed for very long, it sounds like the inner satraps might now have memories of working under Prince Ali.

Burden of Leadership
"If we try and snipe him, we'll have the element of surprise, along with being out of his range for a counter attack." Aladdin nodded firmly. Razoul shook his head, even as the Sultan "hmm'd".

"While I will admit I'm grateful for you trying to keep my men out of the line of fire, we're not exactly adept bowmen, and throwing daggers are a bit closer range." The big guard actually looked chagrined as he admitted that. That brought a smirk to the man leading the Ababwans' face, who raised a hand and had half of the thirty-man detail stepping forward; producing short bows from beneath their cloaks.

"Luckily for you, one of Ababwa's key armed forces are horse and camel archers. Jonas and his cadre will take the high ground and see if we can put a few barbs in his spine." The man turned and gave you a bow. "By your leave, my Prince." Aladdin worked his jaw for a moment, throat feeling dry.

"Um, yes? I mean, yes. That's probably our best shot at ending Jafar." The men nodded and bowed, hands over their hearts, before departing. Off to one side the Sultan was speaking to Razoul who was looking nervous but determined, before the guard captain saluted and took his men towards the door falling in step with the Ababwans.. He paused by his wife (Aladdin still couldn't wrap his head around that), and with more care and gentleness than he'd have ever given the man credit for, took her hand. She gave him a nod, before the two let their joined hands fall. Razoul took a deep breath, before looking over his shoulder at the group of mixed soldiers.

"You don't know the palace. My men and I will show you the way to the best overlook. We don't have much time, let's go!" They took off at a fast trot, their footsteps quickly drowned out by the howling wind from the rift and the booming of lightning.

The Sultan was stroking his beard, looking contemplative, before he nodded firmly to himself, motioning to Aladdin and Jasmine. "Come. We need to watch and see if they are successful. They may not be able to return to tell us, and if that happens we need to be able to react quickly." Aladdin felt his stomach turn to pure lead at that.

"Not able to..." He swallowed heavily. This... this was nothing like his encounters with the guards in the market. Or even his near drowning. Every time it had been him taking the risks, running the razor's edge of the odds. Sending others out to fight for him felt... He heard a sigh as a bow and quiver were shoved into his hands. He looked up to see the leader of his guard shaking his head with a resigned expression.

"Go my Prince. I should have known you couldn't bear to let the others take all the risks..." Aladdin gave him a firm nod, Abu clinging tightly to his back as the ape doffed his cap to the older man.

"Ali!" Jasmine gave a startled cry, but her father took her hand, giving him a serious nod. Aladdin shot her a lopsided smirk, showing far more bravado than he felt. He felt some flippant words on the tip of his tongue... but now wasn't the time. He took off running, his rough calloused feet gripping the smooth floors of the palace. He quickly caught up with Razoul and the others, falling into step with them.

"My prince!" One of the... his men exclaimed. Aladdin shook his head, flashing his cocky smirk.

"I couldn't let you guys have all the fun." Razoul and the lead Ababwan exchanged glances, before Razoul jutted his chin in the other man's direction. He fell in step besides Aladdin, side-eyeing the teen searchingly... before shaking his head.

"You don't remember any of us, do you My Prince?" Aladdin grimaced, while there were muffled exclamations from the other Ababwans. Finally, Aladdin shook his head.

"I'm sorry, but whatever Jafar did... I thought that he'd completely undone my wish." The man put a comforting hand on Aladdin's shoulder. And then smiled at the younger man.

"I'm Jonas. We can do introductions to everyone else after we take care of our little problem." He squeezed once before the men resumed their ground-eating pace. Following Razoul's directions, the Ababwans and Aladdin found a veranda that gave them a view over the space that Jafar had made his dramatic reappearance. And where he was still struggling against the portal, intense waves of magic from his staff meeting and disrupting the black lightning. His jaw was clenched in fury even as Iago hid behind scorched debris.

The sorcerer's focus seemed to be entirely on the portal and his seeming attempts to... Aladdin couldn't tell if he was trying to control it, or close it. As Aladdin and the Ababwans took up positions, he looked back to see Razoul and the guards moving away. "Where are you going?!" he hissed, trying to keep from being detected by Jafar. The guard captain looked at Aladdin, and then meaningfully down towards Jafar, but didn't say anything in reply. Jonas put a hand on Aladdin's shoulder again, guiding the young man down with the others.

"He follows the orders of his ruler, as we follow yours. Now, let's put paid to this treacherous snake." As one, the Ababwans nocked arrows. Aladdin followed suit, the weapon feeling at once unfamiliar and like he'd handled it every day of his life. He shook his head to dispel the incongruity, focusing down the shaft of the arrow on Jafar's back. Breathe in... breathe out... and as the snap of the other bowstrings registered, Aladdin loosed his arrow as well.

Snipe him from a distance with bows: It has the advantage of giving them a surprise strike, but carries the risk of the arrows being sent off course by the wind of the vortex, or blown out of the air by the lightning.
Chance of success: 50%
Uses Intrigue, Abu bonus at +5 due to injuries
Result: 33

It was the wind that did them in. That howling, screaming wavering vortex that waxed and waned at completely random intervals. It caught most of the arrows, scattering them wide or sucking them past Jafar into the rift itself. Others were blasted out of the air by the black lightning, completely obliterated with not even the arrowheads left behind. Only one of the arrows managed to score a hit, and even that was a graze to the man's left side. Jafar half-spun, glaring up at the terrace.

"You should have run when you had the chance, boy!" Even as he kept feeding power into the rift, Jafar lashed out with his off hand, waves of crimson energy flowing upwards in a torrent, and crashing down upon the stone terrace. Aladdin's reflexes saved him, throwing himself and Jonas both clear of the blast; while most of the archers managed to tumble and roll out of the way as well.

But most was not all. Before Aladdin's horrified eyes, three of the men, three of his men, sank into stone that was rendered as fluid of water. Droplets scattered and a hand reached up, blindly grasping. Below, Jafar tightened his outstretched hand into a fist, and the stone solidified with a horrible cracking noise, the hand sticking out spasming twice before twisting into a horrific claw. Aladdin felt all the color drain from his face as he stared at that hand, even as Jafar cackled in manic glee. "YOU CAN'T DODGE FOREVER, BOY!"

Sultan's backup plan, guards attempt to close and cut down Jafar while he's distracted by the snipers.
Chance of success: 50%
Uses Martial, +5 bonus from Sultan
Result = 34

As the sorcerer prepared another blast, he was caught off balance by the sudden appearance of the palace guards, charging with upraised blades, Razoul at their head. The guards managed to clear over half of the ground between them before Jafar was able to recollect himself... but that still wasn't close enough. "Is this really the best you pathetic fools can do?!" With a wave of his staff, blasts of fire speared out from the serpent's maw. Razoul was only kept from taking a blast to the chest by the sacrifice of Fazahl shoving him out of the way of the blast, going sprawling as the rotund guard stared in stunned stupefaction at the smoldering charred hole that had been carved out of his torso. He barely seemed to register the pain before he dropped.

Jafar laughed again. "Can't you idiots see that you're outmatched?! I have more power in my little finger now than you miserable wretches have ever wielded in your entire misbegotten lives! Agrabah is only the first kingdom! I shall conquer the seven deserts and make myself ruler of the entire region! No, the ENTIRE CONTINENT! AND THEN?! THE WOOOORLD!"

Semper Fidelis: The Guards of Agrabah are loyal unto death to their sultan. Even in the face of absolute defeat, they will strive to defend their ruler and his city.

"Shut! UP!" A roar of defiance and grief tore it's way out of Razoul's throat as he managed to get to his feet. Rather than attempt a charge, the big man instead desperately threw his massive blade, the wicked edge gleaming like freshly spilled blood as it caught the reflection of the murderer's magic. Jafar spun around from where he'd been turning back to the portal, arms wide and ready to strike... meaning that the sword sheared through his arm at the elbow, the staff dropping to the ground still clutched in the man's spasming hand. Which was quickly rendered to slag and charcoal as one of the black bolts slammed into the severed appendage, destroying both the arm and the staff.

"NOOOOO!!!" Jafar's shriek was one of pain, incandescent rage, and then loss as both the limb and the staff were destroyed. Capping the lost limb with a coat of magic; albeit one that was weakly flickering rather than solid and strong, Jafar clutched his stump to his chest, eyes wide in pain and panic as the rest of the guards managed to get to their feet. Above, Aladdin and the Ababwans; their faces filled with the same grim determination as the Agrabah guards, brought more arrows to bear.

And behind Jafar, without the constant influx of magic feeding it, the portal began to close. Jafar's eyes darted everywhere, looking for an escape and finding none; his grasp on his powers weakened by the pain of his lost limb and the destruction of his sorcerous focus by the black lightning. A wild, desperate light glowed in his eyes. "This isn't the end of it! You haven't seen the last of meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!" Jafar threw himself backward, trusting his life to the portal rather than to the vengeful soldiers. Iago, peering out still from behind the debris gulped heavily as he eyed the portal. Which began to close, faster and faster until with a final crackle of energy, it vanished, leaving clear skies over Agrabah... and the Sultan's Palace still atop the cliffs that surrounded the city.

"Uh-uh. No way. I try that and I'm roast parrot. Sorry Jafar, you're on your own!"

"I see that the prince wasn't the only thing that was pretending..." Razoul's voice was like a blade over silk as he spoke from behind the parrot. Iago turned and cowered at the look on the man's face. "It seems I get to take both of Jafar's right hands..."

"Ah-heh, that's, um, actually pretty clever Razoul..." Iago made himself as small as possible, even as Razoul's hand descended.

Results: Jafar has been disarmed, his staff destroyed yet again, and routed. Iago was left to fend for himself and was captured!

How to deal with Iago:

[] What's Good For the Goose: Iago is apparently Jafar's collaborator and associate in much the same way that Abu is to Aladdin. Suggest that Iago be imprisoned for the rest of his life for his part in the crimes against Agrabah.

[] Not my Parrot, not my Circus: Allow the Sultan to decide without weighing in on the situation.

[] Out of Sight, Out of Mind: Offer to take Iago to Ababwa where he won't have access to any of the caches or other hidden trinkets and baubles that Jafar surely has left stashed within the Palace. You can figure out some sort of proper punishment that isn't just locking him away.

[] Write In

As Aladdin returned to the Sultan and Jasmine with the remainder of his men, feeling hollowed out inside, he saw Jasmine looking at him in a mix of concerned sympathy, and suspicion. How does he handle all of this?

[] Full Disclosure of the wish and the circumstances: Aladdin tells Jasmine everything that he knows. Though it appears that he may have some serious gaps in his memory now...
No roll. Aladdin lays things out fully and hopes that Jasmine will forgive him.

[] Play it cool: Have Aladdin claim to actually be a prince and having gone to Agrabah disguised as a servant in order to find out what the city was like before he made his suit to court her.
Intrigue Roll, +5 Bonus from Abu backing your story up, -10 for Jasmine's suspicions.

[] A Little Help: Ask for Jonas to help you fill in the apparent missing gaps about what's going on. Perhaps that will make things better? Or it could make them worse...
Diplomacy Roll, +10 bonus from Jonas' testimony.

[] Write In

Before anything else can be said though, Aladdin approaches the Sultan, who is looking pained as he speaks with Razoul, who is keeping one arm tenderly around his wife. "Sir... if nothing else, I... I want to make sure that the men who... who died," he looks to Razoul and for the first time in his life, gives the older man a nod of respect. "All of the men, are honored somehow. They gave everything to help save Agrabah from Jafar. And even if he's still out there, they deserve to be remembered for their sacrifice."

Razoul looks surprised, before returning the nod, while the Sultan nods gravely, reaching out to pat the young man on the arm. "I'm very glad to hear that. Even if you were not born a prince, it shows you have the qualities of one." He nods seriously. "I shall have workmen recover the bodies of your fallen warriors as quickly as possible that they may be laid to rest with all the proper rites."

How do you remember the fallen. The first men to give their lives for Aladdin?

[] A memorial garden: With flowers and plants both native to Agrabah and Ababwa, create a spot of green in the city for the people outside the Palace Walls to know how they were saved from Jafar's rule, and the price that was paid.

[] An Obelisk: Simple but striking, a white marble obelisk engraved with the names of the fallen and a thank-you for their sacrifice. Emphasizes them as a group.

[] A Statue: Joint commission of a statue of the men who braved the magical wrath of Jafar. Expensive, takes a long time to finish.

[] Write-in

AN: Lemme tell you, that was one hell of a roller-coaster for me to roll and then write. Special thanks to @Kaboomatic for doing the critical overflow rolls. One more update to wrap up things in Agrabah, and then we'll be getting into the actual CKII side of things. Thanks for all the lovely commentary and reading so far!

Iago is by all accounts a Member of the Sultan's court and traitor to his Kingdom, he should be the one to decide what should be done to the bird.

We need to do as the Genie wanted us to do, I don't know if he's dead or not, but either way we should respect what he wanted.

It's the right thing to do, even if it is expensive.

well we got lucky there with Razoul saving the day.

[X] Plan Garden, Disclosure and none of my business

And this plan works for me the parrot isn't our problem so we shouldn't really interfere with it. Jasmine I'm sure would like to know the full story(but so would Aladdin given how he's missing a lot of his memories) and I have no problem yelling her only part I would change is the statue but that's honestly a minor detail and something I don't fully care for either way.

Edit changed plan to the one with the garden.

Well this quest is going to be a challenge and a half, if we roll a 251 the villain rolls a 28 and still gets to escape. As to the vote I don't see any reason at all to build a statue. A memorial and an obelisk honors the guards and does it without being insanely expensive and taking a long time. I think memorial gardens are cool so I choose that over an obelisk.
