Sailor Moon stares at the Dark General for a long moment, and with each passing moment, Jadeite's grin grows larger, before the girl sighs. "Fine." Sailor Moon growls out, a single word that causes Jadeite's head to tilt to one side, a baffled look on his face. "...If you don't hurt anyone here, you can leave in peace. But tell me, please, how is any of this protecting the Earth?"

Jadeite stares at the girl for a long moment, a strange look on his face. "How is any of this protecting the Earth?" He asks, "शुक्र , I'd tell you to think about it, but we both know that you're dumber than a box of rocks."
HAAAHAAAAHAA he thinks we're Sailor Venus!

No seriously it actually makes a lot of sense from his perspective.

He knows damn well there is no Sailor Moon. He knows damn well that the Moon Princess never threw a punch in her life, whereas he first saw this Sailor Moon character running around doing a flying kick on a Zakenna the size of a small truck and getting smacked hilariously through a wall for her trouble. Totally out of character.

There is no Moon-affiliated person who does this shit. What the fuck.

There are two plausible hypotheses here.

1) Sailor Venus' known tendency to impersonate the Moon Princess is showing through, and she's wearing some bastardized hybrid of Moon Kingdom colors and regalia while copying Princess Serenity's hairstyle and pretending to be someone else for some dumb reason known only to her. This is actually a rather parsimonious hypothesis, because it means all four known Inner Senshi showed up to that last attack, three out of four to the Cinderella Caravan affair, two out of four to the cram school, and one out of four to the fortune teller thing before that.

2) Sailor Venus remains occluded or is active as Sailor V in England, and this Sailor Moon girl is still not the Moon Princess Serenity, but rather some girl from the royal guard that Queen Serenity somehow made into a Senshi or quasi-Senshi during the falling days of the Silver Millennium. Someone who presumably died in combat or in the general destruction of the lunar civilization, before the Shitennou ever met her or for that matter heard of her.

Hypothesis Three, which is that Princess Serenity reincarnated as a mildly ditzy and physically active and rather warlike teenage girl who somehow has her own senshi power suite instead of just, y'know, being Princess Serenity? WAY down the ladder of plausibility.

And yes, just to confirm, that is totally the name of the Princess of Venus in her last life; I checked.

Once far and away from the eyes of the police, Usagi calls out to Luna. Thankfully, as always, the cat somehow knows when her charge is calling her name.
Nice trick, that.

The first was maybe a little plain, but it was also clearly rugged in construction, being able to handle even the hardiest and most destructive of cats.

The second was prettier than the first, but it was also extravagant. The thing had a number of soft pillows on it, and even had a four poster structure that gave the bed a rooftop, along with curtains that fell down the side, covering the inside from view.

And finally, was a strange contraption that the man pointed out to Usagi. It was far more expensive than either of the other options, but this bed had some kind of built in water fountain, and a lower compartment that was a fully enclosed little box. The bed also had a third 'story' that had a bowl for food, and the whole thing could be plugged into a wall in order to make the thing work as a night light as well.

I think we should go for the four-poster. We don't want our parents thinking we've gone bonkers on this one issue, and I think Luna will be well enough off with a palatial(-ish) bed.

That is a major problem for Usagi's plans, as she would need to travel freely in order to visit everyone and free them from the effects of the spells holding them hostage. Things aren't entirely negative however, as Usagi is given free rein to visit her brother. On top of that, the police guard doesn't come into the room with the girl, leaving her alone with her unconscious brother.

A quick trip to the bathroom slips her entirely out of sight of any cameras or recording technology, which allows her to transform without worry of being seen or discovered. That means that Sailor Moon is able to try and find a good spot against the wall in the corner closest to the rest of the Special Ward. Taking a breath, Usagi draws on the well of power that exists in the depths of her soul, before she breathes out. With her eyes closed, the girl fails to see the way that her breath lightly sparkles silver, just as she fails to see her own Celestial Crest lighting up on her forehead.

We probably just miracle'd a lot of regular patients too.

She can feel that it isn't enough, that there is more yet that needs to be done before each of these people are fully ready to return to the world of the living.
We probably need to make official contact and be able to experiment. Or Stardust the patients.

To start off with, Naru has a feeling that she had a very important dream, but she can't remember the specifics. The only thing about the dream that she can distinctly remember is that the dream felt the same as the dream she had when using her magic on Inuyasha's sword.

Naru further brought up the fact that ever since then, she has been... Hungry, ravenous, but not for food. Specifically, she has already started to notice that her hunger gets stronger and stronger the more magic she uses in a day, but that the hunger all but disappears as she sleeps.
Hmm. Is she peeling energy of Beryl in her sleep?

According to the rumor mill, the monster had been attacked and beaten back by a pair of young women, one dressed in pink, the other in white. All that the news will say is that due to unusual circumstances, the trains are out of service for the day.

Going back to the rumor mill for your news, you hear that somehow much of the train tracks of Tokyo had become completely overgrown, wrapped in enough vines that the trains wouldn't be able to work for the whole of the day.

Unfortunately, that means taking the train up to Kibigouhana in order to check out the Clock Shop is all but impossible for the day.

So checking out the clock shop will have to wait for another day.
I mean, she could still rooftop it teleport it, but she's probably trying to minimize and honestly could really use a break. So... yeah OK.

Sigh.

Is this a canon Pretty Cure episode, by the way? If so it's not Nagisa and Honoka, I'm pretty sure, but then we already knew at least two Pretty Cure teams were active in the area, and I for one don't know which is which.

'Simple' That is a load of utter crap. Ranma is the premier martial artist of his generation. I am insulted Makoto, who hasn't sacrificed her childhood, has better Martial than him. Makoto should stand no chance against Ranma right now. Granted this is early in the story, but there should be no way Makoto is strong enough to fight Ranma. Ranma was already pulverizing boulders by this point.
the "simple" was between quotation marks because it's not really "simple" at all.

Well, unless you compare it to senshi that have the soul of a planet powering them up, at least.

I DO agree that untransformed Makoto (or really, untrasformed ANYONE) should be weaker than him, though. Instead she's somehow actually slightly stronger (I think prowess 27 untransformed?)

I suspect that our best spells will keep the "can't be used untransformed" restrictions, though, and I'm pretty sure not even Tuning III fully eliminates the Prowess enhancements from the transformation.
There's always a chance of an high enough tuning actually strenghtening the transformation though. We only saw Tuning 0 and 1, we can't be sure of how the higher versions work.

Jadeite stares at the girl for a long moment, a strange look on his face. "How is any of this protecting the Earth?" He asks, "शुक्र , I'd tell you to think about it, but we both know that you're dumber than a box of rocks."
...I think he mistook us for Venus.

eyes settling on a rooftop blocks away from the Police officer, and in the direction of her home. 「Sailor Teleport.」 The girl says quietly, disappearing with a nearly silent 'Pop'.
..did we REALLY have to show the police we can teleport?

I thought we were trying to keep that secret!

That is, at least, what the girl tells herself, as she lays down in bed. The angry chewing out that Luna gave her still on her mind. It wasn't something that the girl thought about during the whole situation, but...

Luna wasn't willing to admit it, even after the fact, but Usagi could tell that her friend was terrified. And now that she is thinking about that, she is left wondering what it would be like for her family... If Usagi went out one day, to fight against evil, and never returned.

It is not a pleasant line of thought, but it is the way that her mind goes all the same.
I stand by our decision, we did what we had to.

When given a chance we DID the smart thing and avoided the battle, but I think we made the right call. It's just annoying that we didn't get Jadeite to talk.

Also no Mamoru. Then again we didn't give him much time to come.. I wonder if he can learn to teleport.

Actually, we didn't see the discussion with him, Mars and the Queensgard after the whole temple situation..

Also, can't she simply sleep on our bed?

「Lunar Healing Burst!」

The magic ripples out from the girl, passing invisibly through the walls and into the halls. It crosses the halls and into the other rooms. Everything that the magic touches is improved and repaired. Tiny technological faults are repaired, even as plaster uncracks and mortar strengthens. Here and there, the girl can feel her magic being pulled on, and into the bodies of humans. But the spell is a burst, it is not a sustained beam of power, and seen enough the burst reaches it's limit, the power repairing as much as it can.

However...

She can feel that it isn't enough, that there is more yet that needs to be done before each of these people are fully ready to return to the world of the living.
I'm honestly surprised she didn't simply go there as Sailor Moon, and sort of.. just go to each room and heal everyone before the police could stop her.

She already showed she can teleport. She might as well just simply have gone from room to room, healed everyone, than teleport away.

Some kind of giant plant creature had attacked the train station of Kamakura city, down where you once practiced with your magic, and where Luna a few nights ago say some kind of rainbow bubbles.

According to the rumor mill, the monster had been attacked and beaten back by a pair of young women, one dressed in pink, the other in white. All that the news will say is that due to unusual circumstances, the trains are out of service for the day.

We really need to talk to them again..

Yes and no, it is a canon Precure monster and episode, but due to events of this quest, the Magical Girls of the area were in a different area when the monster spawned, so it had a chance to do more than it canonically did.

As for the question of why you didn't just go in as Sailor Moon, I didn't manage to make it clear when writing the update, but you spent close to 2 hours working the Healing Burst before visiting hours ended, and that would have been way too long for going room to room without getting dogpiled by the police.

This, is actually hilariously accidentally perfect for Venus. Because V is probably trying to make herself seem like the princess, and well, we might have accidentally managed to make her credible by just discovering who we were early, leaving them pegging us as Venus due to that being the only inner missing, due to her operating as sailor v elsewhere.:rofl::lol::rofl:

My quick check of colorschemes says this is probably the Splash Star expy-of-Black-and-White duo? Suite's the only other duo with that colorscheme from my quick search.

Thanks for the chapter! Can Usagi just teleport someone into the center of the sun to deal with high powered enemies?
Uh, we're teleporting ourselves, not our enemies. We might be able to teleport ourselves into the sun, but that seems like a very bad idea.

Also, sealing extremely powerful enemies inside the sun is arguably how we got into this mess in the first place, so trying the same trick all over again only with less magical expertise seems... inadvisable.

So, now that the decision on Luna's bed seems to be out of the way, this is interesting. Does the DK somehow think we're Venus in disguise?
If a reasonably competent warrior purporting to be the nonexistent "Sailor Moon" shows up in the company of Sailors Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter, is first seen doing a giant flying "Sailor Kick" ( :p ), and she has long blonde hair and seems to be the leader of the aforesaid senshi, and she decided inexplicably to make herself up vaguely like Princess Serenity (who had luminous white hair, not blonde, you'll recall)...

Yeah, she's Sailor Venus. Duh. Of course she is! It's obvious!

Also, is Venus's learning going to be terribad?
Pretty sure it was in canon. School-oriented she ain't, and she doesn't have the spirit of Princess Serenity whispering in her ear to study up on magic theory. At most she has the spirit of Princess Venus whispering in her ear to Git Gud At Guarding The Princess...

Jesus Jadiete, there's being a bad guy and then there's being a dick.

But still...the fact he used the wrong name...even though he was calling Usagi 'princess' just last update, there's something about it that feels important.
In her last life, Sailor Venus was herself the princess of Venus; "Princess" would be the correct title of address regardless.

It's quite possible that for all Jadeite knows, "Sailor V" is a British urban legend that Zoisite (or whoever, I forget) is playing up for sympathy. Or that Sailor V was active in London until a few weeks ago, then came over to Tokyo to ruin his day, and any subsequent reports of Sailor V activity from London are just his rivals bullshitting.

Remember, when you know there are only four Inner Senshi, and that only one of them is a long-haired blonde with Usagi's approximate height and build and with no clear elemental power theme... and that that one's Sailor Venus... it's obvious.

And Jadeite thinks he knows all that.

For the All-In-One; most people like to keep a lot of room between food/water and their toilet. Cats as an aside generally like to also keep their food and water separate. So the all in one is extra unpleasant for them. It is more about convenience for the owner.
A good point.

I DO agree that untransformed Makoto (or really, untrasformed ANYONE) should be weaker than him, though. Instead she's somehow actually slightly stronger (I think prowess 27 untransformed?)
In her first anime appearance, Makoto casually thrashes three fully grown and rather muscular men, implied to be street thugs. I'm not saying she's capable of the superhuman feats Ranma is capable of in the sense of "break boulders with her face" or whatever, but she's definitely got something going for her.

After all, in a world where supernaturally good martial arts are A Thing (unlike the canon Sailor Moon 'verse), who's to say Makoto didn't train in one of them?

..did we REALLY have to show the police we can teleport?

I thought we were trying to keep that secret!
The police don't know we can teleport, the police know we can disappear into thin air after mumbling something in incomprehensible moon-moon language. Unless jadeite or someone like him goes back and specifically reads that cop's mind, and given Jadeite's inability to tell mortals apart or show them any respect it seems unlikely he could even identify them... Well, we haven't given the Dark Kingdom much actionable intelligence.

Also, Usagi is exhausted in this scene and probably not thinking too clearly.

Also no Mamoru. Then again we didn't give him much time to come.. I wonder if he can learn to teleport.
For all we know he CAN teleport, or at least do some kind of shadow-to-shadow teleportation. It'd explain a lot. But even a teleporting guy can't necessarily keep up with you if you start moving while he's asleep, don't give any monitoring setup he has going much time to alert him, and if he doesn't know where you were going because you yourself didn't know where you were going until five minutes ago.

Actually, we didn't see the discussion with him, Mars and the Queensgard after the whole temple situation..
Honestly I'm not too disappointed by that. It could have been very fun, but it's also the kind of thing easily covered by a cut saying "and then she told them the rest of the backstory."

Also, can't she simply sleep on our bed?
She can, but then she risks getting spilled out of bed whenever Usagi tosses and turns, or whenever Usagi gets into bed, and she has no privacy. We specifically voted to spend a personal action getting her a bed of her own this week.

I'm honestly surprised she didn't simply go there as Sailor Moon, and sort of.. just go to each room and heal everyone before the police could stop her.

She already showed she can teleport. She might as well just simply have gone from room to room, healed everyone, than teleport away.
She might have had a police officer actively try to stop her, and I don't think she's ready to physically push past a cop and risk injuring him when no one's actually in immediate obvious danger of dying.

@Lunaryon The Pretty Cure duo are Black and White. Typo, or are we dealing with somebody else?
There are like 87 different Pretty Cure duos. Nagisa and Honoka are just the first, and it looks like in this timeline a bunch of the duos all awaken at around the same time.

It's why we can't seem to throw a rock in this town without it bouncing off a couple of Pretty Cure protagonists before it hits the ground.

She does have other subjects, y'know, school isn't all about your math skills.

Besides, we halfway put that under Stewardship anyway.

Next turn is probably a good time to ask Luna about Sailor V, btw. And then go "well we've been curb stomping DK over here, and there's six of us (plus Tuxedo Mask) over here and only one of her in London, so why not [Operation Slumber Party?]"

And then hopefully on Turn 6 Minako will go "YO I FOUND WHERE ZOISITE HANGS OUT" and then we can drop all 5 Inners, 2 Outers, and possibly Tuxedo Mask on his head.
