Prince Aladdin Quest (Disney Villains *Almost* Victorious)

[X] Divide and Conquer: Have two forces strike at him, a frontal assault and then a pincer attack while he's distracted. With his focus split three ways you may manage to take him out.

Edit: missed the bit where it went into the portal

I assume 50 percent chance means a roll of 51 or higher on a 100 roll.

So the best odds are the arrows and direct attack since they each have plus 5 where the pincer attack needs a 61 with plus ten bonus.

So the safest bet with the least risk of casualties is

[X] Snipe him from a distance with bows: It has the advantage of giving them a surprise strike, but carries the risk of the arrows being sent off course by the wind of the vortex, or blown out of the air by the lightning.

If it doesn't work Jafar will probably just transform the arrows into something harmless instead of just blasting us to bits. Well... hopefully.

what sucks is that fricken devil decided to fuck with jafar, and/or decided that the sorceror was moving in on its turf...and took the genie of the lamp.

there goes our chance to free to poor boi. this is going to be rather...intresting...to deal with. Plus while we have horse archers, generally those types of arrows arent meant for long range combat. We should have gotten longbowmen if you guys wanted to snipe jafar...who is trying to close the damn portal!!!

Having the Sultan's help, I think this will lead us to the best results.

You're missing the adding of Aladdin's own Intrigue and or Martial score.

Change of success: 40%
Uses Intrigue, Abu bonus at +5 due to injuries. +5 bonus from Sultan.

Genie, even at his giant size, looked terrified rather than merely sorrowfully resigned as he had been. And behind Jafar; reality tore.
Well that bodes ill.
OH **** ME!

NOPE! ALL MY NOPE! GTFO! GTFO!
Aladdin managed to tear his eyes off Abu just long enough to see the golden glimmer of the lamp be pulled through the vortex... before choking clouds of smoke followed as Genie was forced to follow his prison.
So long Big Blue.
Given that the palace is currently rather inaccesible to horses after Genie took the "Rule on High" part of Jafar's wish literally, all you've got are the Agrabah guards, Rahzoul's wife, the Ababwans, Aladdin, Jasmine and the Sultan.
Oh sure for regular horses. But Ababwa is a magic-forged nation near a vast forest filled will all sorts of wonderous beasts along with a Menagerie filled with war-beasts. Ergo Prince Ali's personal guard are obviously using Skyrim horses. :V

As for the options, assuming that we are directly adding our total intrigue stat (and there aren't any hidden maluses etc) the chances are as follows:

Intrigue 17 +10 = 27 - Aladdin has had to become exceptionally cunning to squeeze every last opportunity that presents itself for every drop it's worth and then some.
[] Snipe him from a distance with bows: 50+17+5 =72
[] Divide and Conquer: 40+17+5+5 = 67

But since I have no doubt maluses will be a thing and the DaC does mention splitting Jafar's focus (which is going to be vital if we want to land a hit/killing blow) I have to go with the second.

[X] Divide and Conquer: Have two forces strike at him, a frontal assault and then a pincer attack while he's distracted. With his focus split three ways you may manage to take him out.

Hopefully the wedding will still be on after this.

that said I do wonder what summoned chernabog? Genie certainly wasn't involved, Jafar certainly didn't expect him to show up and we should be a LONG way from bald mountain.

maybe Jafar made a deal with him for his old power and now that Genie gave Jafar his new power chernabog came to collect?

Nope, if Jafar had been foolish enough to make a deal with the Devil of Bald Mountain, than he would have easily been Sultan already. Jafar's "old power" was a combination of alchemical tricks and mental flim-flam.

Edit: As for what happened that had Chernabog peering in? Well that is the question, isn't it?

Well if it's based on DVV it probably has something to do with the conjunction of worlds and Genie being the only being around whom could even possibly be an inconvenience to the master of Walpurgisnacht ( well unless the show is canon. Because then Chaos would be on par with him)

I'll be pulling on elements of the show, definitely. But if Chaos is kicking around, he's just watching all the "fun" unfold, since he doesn't have to even raise a paw.

Well from a quick check in the disney site, summoning Chernabog isn't the hardesting thing to do.

He apparently awakens at the start of Walpurgis Night/Walpurgisnacht on Bald Mountain only to be driven back into slumber with the morning sunrise and the sound of church bells. Nothing is really mentioned in the DVV documents I can find as to how the guy managed to stick around.

Of course the truly genocidal/omnicidal madmen etc would probably be confronted/swatted down. After all, Living as Expected is boring as heck but a dead world/one chained to the will of a single being with no chance of resistance or rebelliion? That woud be even worse for the trickster.

hence the *almost*?

So: having Aladdin keep his princehood is cool, and I'm loving the world building that's starting to pop up because of it.

The premise of Villains Almost victorious is also pretty interesting. I'm guessing that they nearly won in their respective settings, but some catch prevented a complete victory, like Chernabog, and/or things like Aladdin's wish being hardier than in canon?

The core premise of Disney Villains Victorious is that all the Villains won. Unfortunately, you guys have no idea what's happening beyond the Seven Deserts right now.

Though it's going to be interesting going forward irregardless of how the rest of the world has fared. Because like it or not, Ababwa is a magically created kingdom with no prior connections to the regions around it. Agrabah on the other hand, is the trade city of the seven deserts based on what we see of the markets etc. Seriously, you look hard enough you can get almost anything in that city, magical or mundane.

Based on a couple of comments by the QM, we're getting a big ISOT-style mashup of all the various Disney settings involved in DVV. The difference is that the 'present' for everybody is going to be right when the villains win.
I'm pulling from the classic "Disney Villains Victorious" setting for a lot of my inspiration here; though this is right as the blackwater hits the rotary oscillator. So things won't be as stable or sharply defined as they are in the DVV Classic setting.

And time kind of got rolled into a ball and then tossed around like pizza dough. You'll see.
So while the players might be the same, the world won't be chopped up into the various power blocks for a while.
So after doing a little comparison listening, I found that this iteration of the song actually will fit this quest quite a bit better than the original.
On a related note I found the Hindi(?) version of the song which is also very nice.

And some instrumental Arabian Nights-style music as a bonus.
