Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Also lots of good options. I often don't bother to vote if I see one option waaaay in the lead, but that's certainly not the case here. I don't think I've ever seen 4 very disparate courses of action be this close to tied for so long.
Competition definitely contributes.

I generally view the main things that make low-vote... votes are complexity*, the feeling that something really doesn't matter**, and a clear blow-out.

*See: big plan votes
**See: shopping votes, often less than the big plan votes

Christ, 364 votes in and the top four are within a range of 5.

This definitely seems like it'll be down to the wire.
Well, at least all of the top five are *super different* from each other so people will be annoyed?

I guess semi-retirement with the Dwarves isn't the worst thing ever, but it does seem like a waste for lots of reasons. I'm mystified why that option is so popular. It might be an example of familiar=good?

There's also that plan votes tend to never be quite what people want, i sometimes skip because no plan has what i want, without also providing something i absolutely do not want, and voting for individual items is useless because plan votes dominate.

Loremaster-at-Large is still very active. Loremaster sinecure is semi retirement.

Ah, golf, the latest in a long line of modern anachronism BoneyM will sensibly prevent us from inventing.

It's a shame, as I imagine Warhammer golf would be considerably more exciting, what with having to avoid beastmen attacks from the woods and Skaven tunneling under the sand traps.
Golf has been around since the late 15th century, about 100 years before the rough equivalent of the Empire's current time. It'll never catch on in the Empire, but that's because they don't have the free land for it, not because of timescale.

Yeah, but the equivalent to the place that invented it is Albion.

Which is decidedly unlike Scotland in the 15th century.

I've tried a few times in the past, but there's something to working within in an established universe that was missing when I tried to create something entirely from scratch.
Hey, mastery takes thousands of hours. I dare say, after this project, you'll have acrued more than enough hours. You might find your muse lasts beyond this quest.

I don't know if it was discussed, but has "which choice is best for getting an apprentice eventually?" come up? And if so, what was the answer?

Egrimm specifically said he's down for more adventures, and Loremaster will involve some adventures. If we need other wizards, he's the first person we'll ask (well, after/in addition to Johann). You are right that Bodyguard may also involve inviting him for adventures though - on the other hand, Bodyguard will also involve politics, and he's unlikely to want to participate for that. (Then there's the question of how likely his Patriarch is to let him participate in stuff - that one's hard to predict)

Definitely better chances of getting him out if the Emperor is asking for him by name (ie, Heidi mentions to Leopold that we think an anti-demon specialist would be good to have and oh Mathilde was telling me about this chap who dealt with a particularly powerful one on her little expedition...) than if a Lady Magister off the Greys looks to be meddling with the Light College.

Stir crazy seems about right. It does seem like Alaric will help Dwarfs when possible considering his contribution to Borek's expedition, but in general it would seem like Empire tasks might be more important. I wonder why it is he was so down to help the Expedition.

I'm pretty sure he viewed it as a wonderful chance to finally clear his research backlog of all the stuff that needed to be done in or near the chaos wastes, and the dwarves kindly offered transport and protection. ;)

Updated vote since the tutoring isn't in the lead.

It hasn't been discussed, but personally I would put "Bodyguard and Tutor" up there for teaching an apprentice - we'll be around Altdorf often so that's lots of access to College resources, we'll be working with a child anyway so it's good for getting practice in, and once the apprentice is less of a babu we can drag them around while troubleshooting the same way Regimand brought us along.

I don't think it has. Any choice that lets us spare an AP for free time would let us have an Apprentice, and technically the option with the most free time is either Research Sabbatical or Loremaster Sinecure, but most of them should be feasible.

On an unrelated note, I made a table comparing the job options based on character stats here.
And @Briefvoice made a chart with different categories here.

Be a bit of irony, given that Boney speculated it would get less than the info-vote, owing to a tendency in very important votes for people to go "well, I should just leave this up to other people".

I guess we've all got strong opinions on this one.
I'm seeing a bunch of people who haven't voted in like a year coming out of the woodwork to vote on this one. Not what I expected.

Have you tried the J.R.R. Tolkein/Carl Sagan method?

To do anything, you must first create the universe.
