The Waystone vote seems like it will be mostly just us herding children that don't want to work together, and that combined with the fact that the minutia of the waystone are just boring is really making me not want it.

Like it works fine as a side plot that is occasionally brought up, but I struggle to see how it being brought into the lime light as the main plot will make it more interesting.

you're saying that like picking the job that will put us between the High King and Bro-king and Bad dwarf-dad will not have politics.

to be clear, I like politics, but I'm hearing a lot of 'no politics' as the reason to vote/not vote for option.

guys, we are high enough ranked that everything we do can count as politics.
Eh, maybe. Belegar didn't name any especially political postings, so they are not an explicit part of the job. We might see a bit, but I'd wager less politics than Bodyguard. And of course no Imperial politics, which I don't especially want.

I think Egrimm personally is going stir crazy/resentful of his position and would leap at any chance for an adventure whether it's accompanying Mathilde to stomp on Skaven or Beastmen on a Heidi task or exploring Fire Dragon caves for Belegar. The main blocking factor is that he is under the thumb of Alaric. I think I agree with whoever said working for the Empress and therefore Emperor directly is the most likely path we'd have for getting past that specific political obstacle. Dwarfs are still a foreign power that do not have as much leverage over Alaric a Patriarch of the Light College.
Stir crazy seems about right. It does seem like Alaric will help Dwarfs when possible considering his contribution to Borek's expedition, but in general it would seem like Empire tasks might be more important. I wonder why it is he was so down to help the Expedition.

Technically yes, but some stuff less so.
Markgraf is explicitly with Roswitha having our back so we can pay maximum attention to Vampires, so that's less politics than most noble postings could be.
And Swamp Town would leave us essentially sovereign over our little enclave, with the only relevant politics being diplomacy with our neighbours of the not-totally-hostile variety.

[X] Markgraf of Eastern Stirland
[X] Count of Sylvania
[X] Spymaster of Wissenland
[X] Ambassador-at-Large to the Karaz Ankor
[X] Bodyguard and Tutor to Prince Mandred
[X] Governor-General of Swamp Town
[X] Loremaster-at-Large of Karak Eight Peaks
[X] Border Princess of the Howling River

I will enjoy any of the options because I've enjoyed the entire quest so far and I trust Boney to tell a good story. That said, these options do interest me more than the others.

Christ, 364 votes in and the top four are within a range of 5.

This definitely seems like it'll be down to the wire.

shame that spymaster of wissenland fell behind, as that's my favorite, but all of these look like good options.

edit: after some thinking I prefer markgraf to waystones - though it is a hard choice - and as they are the two frontrunners I'm removing the waystone vote

You know, thinking about the unlikely case Roswitha mentioned, that we will still be at this in a century, reporting to her grandchildren.

At that point we'd seriously have become an institution in our own right. Entire generations grew up and died, knowing that the Dämmerlichtreiter watches over them.
Like Elspeth, but more so since our corner of the Empire would be much more isolated than Nuln could ever be.

It's just a fascinating idea. Even though it would propably be something of a failure if we can't get things well enough in hand to abandon the title of Markgraf eventually and let the regular lords under the Grand Countess take the weel.

...How many votes did the previous one get again? IIRC it broke the record for highest count, but took a lot longer to get to this point.
Last one got 397, and was at 306 after it had been open about 12 hours.

This vote has been open about 9 hours, and has 370 voters. So, uh, yeah. I think we're getting a new high score on this one.

Damn, I forgot how much I missed this quest. @BoneyM, you should really consider trying your hand at professional writing when you're done with the quest and have the time. You have a very strong knack for bringing the world and characters to life.

Be a bit of irony, given that Boney speculated it would get less than the info-vote, owing to a tendency in very important votes for people to go "well, I should just leave this up to other people".

I guess we've all got strong opinions on this one.
Also lots of good options. I often don't bother to vote if I see one option waaaay in the lead, but that's certainly not the case here. I don't think I've ever seen 4 very disparate courses of action be this close to tied for so long.

I've tried a few times in the past, but there's something to working within in an established universe that was missing when I tried to create something entirely from scratch.

Well for a while Markgraf was firmly down the list and it's made a comeback so who knows?

I feel obligated to mention that BoneyM's signature does have a Kofi link in it if you wanna toss some cash. (BTW I only saw it when I clicked on the profile. Do signatures not show by default?)
