no the betrayed him and his oath after the battle of the Trident were he swore to join Robart's king's guard while the king , his children and Rhagaer's heirs were still alive
No, Selmy did serve our grandfather loyally, a hero in the Ninepenny War and all that.no the betrayed him and his oath after the battle of the Trident were he swore to join Robart's king's guard while the king , his children and Rhagaer's heirs were still alive
The difference here is that other lords did not have the audacity to claim to have had our best interest at heart at all times. I'm sending him home, nothing more.@Azel, maybe use the word "Kingsguard" or something?
Or are you deliberately also scaring every single other Lord who knelt?
I think it would be best to go with the angle "a Kingsguard shouldn't have knelt to Robert" (or just to back up Daenerys' point).

A few of the onlookers catch on the the fact that he had used the wrong address, but no one is inclined to speak up. A few courtiers are literally backing up.
"I have never been more glad in my life to have had the foresight to found my own court," you note mentally to Lya who in turn sends back wordless agreement tinged with sympathy.
For a moment you wonder why it means so much to you that these petty functionaries should think to treat you like some beast liable to tear them limb from limb. Is it that you can half-recall some of the faces from a dream of childhood? Is it that they perhaps recall your father's madness and would have more cause than most to be wary of any bearing your name?
Walder at least is honest about who he is.Honestly, I trust Walder Frey far more than I do Barristan Selmy.
It's really bloody convenient for him that he can just weasel out of his oaths again without even having to acknowledge that he served another dynasty an hour ago."Your Majesty," he bows deeply. Of course he would get that right. Always the form never the substance. Pale blue eyes meet yours unwavering. "In light of the conformation of Joffrey Waters bastardy by the High Septon I come now before you to offer the services of the Kingsguard, such as we yet are..."
You do have to admit it's hella impressive that he managed to preserve his reputation among most people in spite of his treachery. If we are highlighting bits...

Aerys made it rather easy to forgive that spot of treason, especially since Jaime acted as a blame-sponge when he killed him. Barristan also had at least fought at the Trident and been taken prisoner, so he didn't have to actually openly betray his oath by surrendering. You do have to admit it's hella impressive that he managed to preserve his reputation among most people in spite of his treachery.
Walder Frey is a business man. As long as it's beneficial to him he will do business with you. When a person becomes a liability...well ask Robb what happened. Barristan...he is just a disappointment.Honestly, I trust Walder Frey far more than I do Barristan Selmy.
Well, Robb didn't just become a liability. He broke a deal and screwed Walder.Walder Frey is a business man. As long as it's beneficial to him he will do business with you. When a person becomes a liability...well ask Robb what happened. Barristan...he is just a disappointment.
