-[X] Military:
--[X] Construct two Hasta-class cruiser Squadrons: Task your shipyards with constructing Six Hasta Cruisers. [Can be taken up to multiple times a turn] x2
---[X] Replace active the Workhorse class with the new Hasta class and prepare the Workhorse class for decommissioning and sales to allies.

@prometheus110 is the above action allowed? Since we have enough Hasta class ships we can replace the ships on Pirate hunting, and Portland defense and start getting those ships to sell-off. The ships doing colonization and the ones I want to send to Mir wouldn't be replaced as only front line roles need to be swapped.

Sure.

i was rereading an old fav for BTech fanfic and i think something they did in story would be a good a way to boost how dangrous our Power armor infantry will be to mechs.

"Paint rounds," he muttered to himself. They were already used in training operations but to deploy them to the battlefield? Actually he could see some use for them. Speciality of course, but a clever warrior can turn almost anything into a weapon.

When the Mech was dropped on its head, he flinched. Head impacts were one of the few things that all mechwarriors feared. Though ironically, on a Locust the head was probably the most armored part of the body. The pilot would be fine. Though he'd be lucky to escape his father's wrath.

He kept watching, quietly pondering only to smile when the paint ended up being some form of adhesive resin.

"Clever," he muttered to himself. Combining paint and glue as a weapon. That... that had potential. To fight a warrior must be able to see, and if you say... made a paint that was opaque to most thermal sensing equipment and cut it with some form of radar disruptive compound... Yes. A machine gun loaded with such rounds aimed to the head of an enemy mech could effectively mission kill even an Atlas. He was sure that if they ran a chemical analysis of the paint chips they'd discover such a mixture.
combine this with light machine guns and anti-mech teams will be able to blind their target before going for a kill.

Cool thanks @coyote16able @Gmerguy @F0lkL0re if you are building ships which I am pretty sure you are we can add the sub-option to start swapping out the old ships for the newer ones since we have enough to replace all the Front line workhorses and leave the ones doing colony drives and support missions only.
Done though I've changed it to only the ones on anti-piracy patrol so that a squadron is available in case something comes up.

Anyone have any idea if any of the successor states currently have the technology behind gauss rifles?

Also since the Feds have black boxes doesn't that mean that they have the Helm memory core.

No one has the tech for Gauss Rifles right now, really the only ones closest to it would be Comstar with their mothballed SLDF units, the AC with the cache mechs, and us.

And no the Feds don't have access to the Helm core because the black box tech doesn't come from it. It was actually discovered by Archon Katrina of the LC during her journey in the periphery in 3005 and shared with their allies, i.e. the FS.

Head shots are easier said than done. *Maybe* if you used LRMs (or equivalent, due to the need for extra maneuvering and sensors) with HARM seeker heads.

Alternatively, go the Roguetech method of Fluid Guns with such a thing.
wait, the Battlerifles we're gonna be rolling out have underbarrel grenade launchers right? a 40 or 50 mm grenade might be a good platform for deploying such paint even if we sacrfice some volume for guidance/rocket booster.

edit: part of why i suggested light machine guns is that they have further range.

@prometheus110 I dont know if this has been asked but, given information available can we tell if the Turians have prototype antigravity drives or primitive antigravity drives? Personally i consider it a critical strategic tech for us so we should aim to be one tech ahead if possible.

Not really tripods are a thing and machine gun crew have existed since we developed the Gatling gun.
...Yes? That affects the ability of a soldier to hit a small moving target atop a much larger bigger target, piloted by a person who very much does not want to be hit (who also has big guns but also probably more pressing concerns such as other vehicles), how?

Because a mech is slow as hell to reacting dude. They are not able to dodge for any kind of. And no the target is not small it is huge. The mechs also always ignore infantry so the squads are free to fire at their leisure.
