I think we should get started on the other FTL Comms Networks that we need to finish, since the deadline for those projects is approaching soon. Now... what should we do about the Mir situation?

Environmental act is pretty important, 1 action for a long term benefit, or we don't really stop it and long term gets butchered. For Mir i think we should do all of the above. It's not like the research is finishing really quickly anyway.

Think we should Send out Explorers again so that we can map out more of the Deep Periphery and find more worlds and maybe even find some States out there

Considering that they are going to one of our founding planets and are not at fault for the situation might as well go all in with government aid. It's not like we have a desperate struggle going on right now that needs every C-Bill.

We should probably contact Tiverton and wrap up things on Caliban and Rockawellan before doing that.

I don't honestly understand why there's even a choice here? Holding back on them only hurts us.

I wonder if we can subsidize non-lethal anti-Thumper measures.
This.
IRL, a similar situation existed with elephants in Africa. No matter how much legislation and enforcement, farmers stilled killed elephants that entered their farms. It was only with the usage of deterrent methods that elephant killing went down. In our world, such methods revolved around peppers(use improvised pepper flashbangs(condom with pepper powder and a firecracker, light the fuse and toss), rope fences that have been impregnated with pepper, and etc.). Depending on the specifics, we may want to also add ecotourism to the mix to further reduce the incentives for farmers to kill thumpers.
So write in?

[] Research deterrence and subsidize methods: The underlying problem with the thumpers is that they can bypass the common defenses against animal intrusion on a farm and cause significant damages to the farmer's livelihood. No amount of legislation and enforcement can prevent this problem cheaply without being draconian. We should instead try to figure out was to convince thumpers to not enter the farm fields. Whether by active means(deterrence) or passive(fencing) or even other methods(habitat construction to alleviate damage), we should help the farmers coexist with the local ecology.

[]Ecotourism: While this by itself may not help to solve the issue, eco tourism can be used to both subsidize and recoup the losses incurred in our efforts to reduce conflicts between thumpers and farmers. If we are lucky, doing this may create an entirely new industry for us on Rouge.

Would these work @prometheus110 ?

[X] Plan Nero's Lament
-[X] Develop a Republic-wide series of laws aimed at preserving the local ecology wherever possible. The member systems won't like it, but it'll establish a clear standard and potentially prevent some bad situations. (-1 AP for this year)
-[X] Import food and provide a job/income guarantee so impacted people can weather the storm. (-30 million C-bills).
-[X] Broach topic of recovering Tyrlon VI Anomaly: With the Tyrlon VI anomaly located off the coast of the nearest landmass, perhaps the Aurigan Reach could use some help recovering it...
-[X] Weaken Economy (Pact) [Easy]: By utilizing agents seeded throughout Caliban, we can weaken the economies of target by debasing their currencies with forgeries.
-[X] Expand FTL Comms Network: Having had to promise to link Coromodir to the Republic's own FTL communication network to secure the Aurigan vote for the Mutual Defence Pact, we should build said link ASAP.

-[X] Survey Helghan for Additional Petrusite Deposits: With the news that Petrusite deposits will eventually regenerate, now is the time to resurvey old mining sites and look for new ones.
[Progress: 0/5 turns] [Action Point Locked Until Completed]
-[X] Invest in Battlemech Construction and Maintenance Facilities: Though the Republic currently has a standing force of battlemechs on Helghan, the parts needed to maintain and repair these vehicles must be custom made to order or else purchased from our neighbours. With the help of some additional funding, we can order work to begin on a factory complex specially designed to construct battlemechs.

Ok since its now been over two hours...here is my proposal. For Caliban i made a write in to focus on developing the refugee camps currently under our control in to actual settlements both to start/establish a community with a functioning economy and to put pressure on the natives to engage with us one way or another. For Rockwellawan its a no brainer that we have stuff they would love to buy from us. After that its the needed navel build up for the inevitable conflicts coming with either pirates or the mess from the CC.

[X] Plan Build-Up

-[X] Lean on Rogue's government to follow their EMU's recommendations to prosecute offenders. Promote pro environmental message and allocate funds for rebuilding damages from wildlife.
-[X] All of the Above.
-[X] build up/improve refugee settlements: by building up and improving the refugee settlements with Republic resources and technology we should be able to lay the ground work for them to become an economic powerhouse on the planet while putting the Khan and Pact in a difficult position with increased economic/societal pressure.
-[X] Sell civilian goods/materials (i.e. food, industrial equipment, electronics, etc.)
-[X] Joint Mineral Exploitation Program - Gangtok (20m): Having detected numerous mineral deposits across the Aurigan Reach which could prove valuable to both the Republic and the Reach's citizens, organizing a joint mining effort would be beneficial.
-[X] Offer Joint Design Project (Hephaestus Ltd.): Inviting Vandenberg Mechanized Industries into the Republic was only the first step in a plan to lay the groundwork for a joint research program. The next step involves offering VMI a joint design project with Hephaestus Ltd. [This is mutually exclusive with Offer Joint Design Project (Pharoah Automated Solutions)]
-[X] Expand FTL Comms Network: Having had to promise to link Taurus to the Republic's own FTL communication network to secure the Taurian vote for the Mutual Defence Pact, we should build said link ASAP. [Progress: 0/3 turns] [3 Turns Remain Until Negative Effects Occur] [Action Point Locked Until Completed]

-[X] Approve Development Grant (Konstantine Institute of Technology): Inviting Tao Biomedical into the Republic was only the first step in a plan to lay the groundwork for a joint research program with the Magistracy. For the next step, we should approve grants for a proposed Tao-KIT project to develop advanced expert systems for medical diagnosis. [This is mutually exclusive with Approve Development Grant (Arrasate Worker Cooperative)]
-[X] Construct two Hasta-class cruiser Squadrons: Task your shipyards with constructing Six Hasta Cruisers. [Can be taken up to multiple times a turn] X2
---[X] Replace the front line Workhorse class with the new Hasta class and prepare the Workhorse class for decommissioning and sales to allies.
-[X] Construct a Toxotai-class Guided Missile Cruiser Squadron: Task your shipyards with constructing a squadron of Toxotai Guided Missile Cruisers. [Can be taken up to two times in a turn]
-[X] H11 Accelerator Rifle: Redeveloped by Hephaestus Ltd. after acquiring copies of the VC39, the H11 Accelerator Rifle energizes and fires a burst of Irradiated Petrusite at targets up to 300 meters away to devastating effect.

Old MacDonald Had A Farm
-[X] Develop a Republic-wide series of laws aimed at preserving the local ecology wherever possible. The member systems won't like it, but it'll establish a clear standard and potentially prevent some bad situations. (-1 AP for this year)
-[X] Start a media campaign in support of the laws and spreading awareness of the short, medium and long term impacts of the mass poisoning and other such environmentally damaging activities plus the damage it will cause to the prosperity of the world by cutting away one of the major sources of value for the moon.
-[X] Ecotourism: While this by itself may not help to solve the issue, eco tourism can be used to both subsidize and recoup the losses incurred in our efforts to reduce conflicts between thumpers and farmers. If we are lucky, doing this may create an entirely new industry for us on Rouge.

-[X] Deploy a Squadron of Workhorse ships to assist in quarantine and interdiction of vessels to contain the blight on the planet until a solution is implemented.
Caliban:
-[X] Infiltrate Civil Administration (Pact) [Easy]: By infiltrating the civilian leadership, we can improve our ability to ferment dissent amongst the populace.

Requisition
-[X] H405 Keyzer: A worthy successor to the venerable StA-52, the Keyzer continues with Helghast weapon design tradition by melding a bullpup rifle with a high-capacity drum magazine to create something halfway between an assault rifle and a light machine gun. Taking into account feedback from the Helghan military, Hephaestus has motorized the magazine to allow for faster reloading and have introduced a variety of attachments ranging from ACOG scopes to underslung missile launchers.

I'm not 100% happy with what I've added to Old MacDonald so if anyone has some better ideas that would be great.
As usual dealing with Caliban is going to take time so I'm starting with laying the ground work for dealing with the Pact first then we'll see how things develop for next turn.
I said I would be dealing with the anomaly this turn so we might as well grab both of the mining actions this turn with it.
We need eyes in the Celestial Mandate and the best time to send spies would be when building an embassy and if we're talking to them it'll buy us some time to set things up over there, I'm hoping to build embassies in the Mandate, Confederation and Free Worlds League while also send agents to them and the Sun's over the next couple of turns.
The Hasta's are because we're still in the process of replacing the workhorse.
The benefits of upgrading our standard assault rifle should be obvious, the Equites will give us a light mech and upgrading the Smilodon (which still has yet to be added to the order of battle @prometheus110 ) will make it more capable in it's role.

Anyone have any input?

EDIT: changed the Mandate action from diplomacy to infiltration
EDIT2: edited the Old MacDonald write-in and added Workhorse cruisers to E-Mir-gency
EDIT3: added a line for replacing active Workhorse cruisers with Hastas

Mabye something along the lines of:
"While also founding/increasing the funding of a research-institute/goverment agency to further our understanding of how the ecologies of the republic's planets can be persuased/diverted by/with non-lethal and humane ways away from our economical interests."

Also, @prometheus110, Independence lacks information about its lack/presence of a station.

Seems good though the language needs some refinement, I'll see about adding it later.

You know I'm slightly surprised that there's no laser weapons or improved body amour in the requisition section yet.

@Gmerguy we get three requisition points per turn so you can requisition more the just the accelerator rifle.

@prometheus110 the Damascus class has yet to be added to the military section of the turn actions.

I have a question about our FTL coms. When they are finished how much the C* use in the planets is going to drop?
I'm just curious while waiting for the rest of the plans coming.

Why would HPG use drop all that much? I thought they're the only direct lines the ORDI nations have to the Inner Sphere.

Let me use an example. Just imagine that Hanse Davion after the redevelopment of the Fax machines says: "Fuck Comstar, all the government and military coms are going by these machines and I would leave the commercial coms to HPG". Then C* would have noticed the sudden drop in the inner FS communications. The Aurigans, Taurians and Canopians have smaller realms but still the drop could be noticeable.

Maybe yes, maybe no. Our FTL coms are like short ranged highspeed internet while HPG is like Superpowered fax machines with stupid range. The bigger question is how many HPGs are in the local area? we are in the periphery and the majority of the planets out here do not have HPGs and its questionable how many the local powers have as well.

@prometheus110 uh the Taurian joint project are kinda lacking the description of what the projects are? they are two mystery boxes right now?
I should have said, but once you do one of those options you have to do a design action the year after to design whatever you want you think they'll like.

This.

I'll fix that later today.

@prometheus110 Are other systems in the Republic that joined connected with our FTL network?
Yes. I haven't done them as actions as they're all pretty close/done as part of colonization efforts.

Of course, we really don't need a union, just union sized landers, without docking capability or jump extenders or whatever we are using to explain the JumpShip/ DropShip dynamics
Why would we build a different design though? The Union we have in large numbers it is well known and built. So building a upgraded version is both cheaper and faster and can be used and built by everyone. Also We are not removing the jump extenders, or the docking ability as they need those in order to be carried even by our ships. We travel through the same realm as the K-F Drive which is why the collars were able to be created for our use in the first place and is why all the new ships have jump collars.
That would indicate that the creation of irradiated petrusite requires large, possibly concentrated, doses of radiation. The incidence of which in nature is extremely, vanishingly, rare. A gamma-ray burst could potentially do it but it would likely also destroy the planet's biosphere or at the least devastate it. So I have to agree with Advent here irradiated petrusite is not natural. Any irradiated petrusite found in nature will at least mean that a nuclear weapon was used to create it and at worst it indicates that something truly cataclysmic had occurred on/to that planet in the past.
More or less yes. The requirement for the Petrusite to become IPetrusite means it will be so unlikely to appear in nature that it isn't worth considering. We are either very limited in how much we have or are creating it by way of controlled radiation bursts on normal petruiste.

-[X] Lean on Rogue's government to follow their EMU's recommendations to prosecute offenders. While not perfect, it's likely to be a lot simpler to achieve and get acceptable results.
If you don't want to lose the AP then I would suggest adding something like the ones above.
-[X] Open Diplomatic Relations with the Celestial Mandate.
We do not want to talk to these crazies we want to infiltrate them in order to undermine them. Diplomatic relations with them are a waste as we are unlikely to trade or offer them anything.
I have a question about our FTL coms. When they are finished how much the C* use in the planets is going to drop?
I'm just curious while waiting for the rest of the plans coming.
No it is not going to drop because ComStar is still the only way into the wider comm net so will still have the most traffic. Our network is for secure high level talks in the government and certain businesses only. The people and most business deals are still going to be done by comstar.
Not really because high priority messages are still going to be done using one time pads if comstar is used or by courier ships which is the normal way things are done. There will not be any noticeable difference. And if the black boxes were used like that it still wouldn't work because they aren't good enough for it and the majority of traffic will still go through ComStar.

Also with the new Hasta someone put in a write-in under the building of the new Hasta ships that the old workhorse are to be swapped out for the new ones on the pirate hunting and defense squadron. With the replaced ships moved to be decommissioned. That way next turn we can sell to the MoC and TC the ships for their own use.

i am pretty sure i took 9 actions? i doubled down on Hasta's
No I meant for the thumper action. If you don't want to take the action that costs us the AP for the turn I would add some more to the option as the leaning isn't likely to be enough and we want to nib this before the biosphere is wrecked without having to impose too much control over the planets.
