Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
It would surely be an enormous troll to send Ling Qi to the Mother Mature Woman, but I feel like at this point in her life she would properly identify the most with the young woman.

The Crone lies at the end of the path, and LQ is still at the beginning. Completely wrong for her.

"I can free the afternoon, particularly for a young man in so much danger, given the sensitivity of all this" Ostrik huffed. "Better you stay with me than find yourself in the barracks."
An attractive young man from a foreign land, aligned with some aspect of the masculine sun, and is unwed.

Yeah, Gan's in a lot of very mild danger now that such information is out, since the pairing of a winter maiden and a man of the sun is culturally significant here. Poor guy's going to handing out deferrals like this Ostrik hands out candy.

To look at their apparent age would be a big mistake in my opinion, it is not how slavian symbolism works.
Crone is the wise woman, the scientist, the healer - but also poisoner, mistress of curses and death.
Mature woman is caring and nurturing, but also vengeance personified for all who hurt "her" people.
Young woman is a princess - a beautiful and diplomatic leader, but can also be vain, cruel and haughty.
Basically - Li Suyin would be an example for a Crone, Cai Renxiang for a Maiden and Su Ling for a "Mature woman".

I am a bit disappointed that Ling Qi did not challenge Ostrik.

I will pick the crone. Not only does she fit Ling Qi themes the best, she is also the most interesting/mysterious.

Tenchifew is right. Just looking at the age is very shallow.

Let's see. Three statues of Winter. It reminds me of eight moon phases. So why Ostrik send Ling Qi here? To understand their gods? Maybe so she could gain blessing of one of them? To speak to one of them?
To me Young Woman looks like the one with authority, like ruler. Rich regalia, crown, scepter - it's all symbols of rulership. Also the comparision with Jaromila. I guess if we want to understand what being emissary means Young Woman is the best choice.
The Mature Woman is most likely a warrior. Maybe a hunter too. Not sure how approaching her could help in our situation. Maybe we could understand what they fight for?
The Crone looks like a herbalist or witch, depending of how you squint. She also reminds of Baba Yaga with terrible and cruel personality, but with a lot of wisdom to give. I guess if we want to understand the southerns on a deeper level she is the best choice.

Hrrrm...
I'm going to be frank, I think Ling Qi always could use more warmth and light in her experiences.

[] The Young Woman

Holds my vote. While the greater connection between the aspects is interesting we cannot choose all of them. I think that the leader showing up in this guise was no mistake and that approaching it would help us understand her position more. Plus, Qi herself is also young.

[X] The Crone

The moratorium is over, so I shall finalize my vote. I want to see LQ compare and contrast herself against the endings she holds close to her Way.

The Maiden is youthful, she chooses to rule. She chooses to build, to seek, to speak, to triumph. She is concerned with the future to come, and the society that will be made

The Woman is passionate, she chooses to live. She fights, she f**ks, she bares herself to all and thrills in it. She is concerned with the present, and the life that is lived

The Crone is mysterious, she chooses to brew. She hoards, she gathers, she makes poultice and poison for her whims. She is concerned with the past, and the power there-in
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All are self-asserting and empowered. All are self-concerned and "selfish", leading to the grandmotherly tone taken in regards to Gan Guangli. They have different concerns, but all wield power. All would likely be considered "Yang", as the solar men would be considered "Yin" in their passivity.
The Maiden dreams of the future
The Woman is free in her life
The Crone seeks mystery buried in past, and hides herself in them
I believe all three will actually map very well to us.
Creation. Freedom. Mysteries.
Future. Present. Past.
[]- All Three, because we are a greedy girl xP
"Well," Ling Qi said a touch too loudly. "I meant to ask, Sir Ostrik, is there a place like this for those of my type. If I am to speak in the role I have. I think it would be better to understand your customs better."
If she is to speak in the role she has, it would be good if she understood what that role was better.
[X] The Young Woman
They call her Emissary, so let's learn from their example.
