Gives us more information regarding the heart, plus looking at an official construct. Seems like a win win or me.
 
Being in a sect seems fairly similar to being a corporate slave, sect points seems like a direct parallel to company scrip.

May we rise above the shackles of crony capitalism.

I'd like to learn a bit more about what sort of missions we are likely to need to help prepare for, and what sort of preparation we are likely to be able to help with.

Why wouldn't I want to hang with the party chef? More seriously, I don't want to butt heads about our crafting style on day one, and I don't want to be messing with the highest ranked members if it's avoidable. Meng Cai (the woodworking tutor) was Fifth Circle and he kinda terrified us.

We dropped the charm crafting part of the Deeps (the guardian statue), so I want to take this one now.
 
I think one of our weaknesses is a lack of information, so one of the two info gathering tasks would help us to broaden our horizons. While Kumi is the obvious choice, learning more of a "target" would give us some information about how others are cultivating. I believe any sort of dossier on a cultivator would likely less us about their core, techniques, etc that could help us learn more about what we're missing.

Found this story on royal road a few days ago, got caught up, and binged everything posted. Huuuuuge fan of this and I'm quite excited to try and be part of the journey from here on.

With regards to the decision, our current goals should be getting comfortable with what our new life in the eighth circle has for us. If we're going to have to be able to handle a wide range of things eventually, might as well start branching out with something as similar to charm-crafting to smooth the transition right away.

We spend a lot of time with charms already and I'd rather zhi learn more about things outside his wheelhouse
