The Path Unending (A Cultivation Quest)

[X] The higher the build target, the better. We want to double down.

Yes, the cost is high. But I think it's worth it. While I agree that this should be done soon, I'll be happy if Kong Zhi finishes it within his next month. I honestly think the biggest cost is not the delay, but the other actions this will displace. Loosing those actions stings. Yet, I think not having done this and forever knowing we have a product so much lower in quality than we could have would hurt more.

I know I'm voting fairly late. I've avoided it in part because I know that there are people who think I'm on the wrong side of this. However, although my vote won't come close to changing the outcome, I want to have stated my opinion so that I will feel responsible, in my small way, for the consequences this decision, both good and bad. Simply put, if this later turns out to have been a horrible mistake, you get to tell me "I told you so." :)

The Double Down Result
Nice, well, now we got to make plans that do more fractal, none of that "let's leave it for later"

We should really start thinking of next week plan, I propose the following:
  • 3x Siani
  • 2x Cycle Shatter the Mirror
  • 3x Fractal
  • 1x Deer Hunt
Double cycling Shatter the Mirror would guarantee that it levels up, normally when we reach half way of completing a tech we get a passive.

Will the finals of the charmcrafting tournament be next week? We definitely need to attend those.

The Finals aren't until Week 23 (We're on Week 19 now). They get a whole month to work on their finals pieces, which seems reasonable - quality charmcrafting takes time, as our current vote shows. And we craft *faster* than other crafters due to not needing to diagram.

I'd rather we add an action to train with Chui Dao, and another to continue with the contest.

At this point, the only thing we've done for the duel is train Shatter the Mirror, practice Plume a little, and limb train—something that, while powerful, won't give us physical options for hurting the deer.

Given we won't even have the Puzzle with us as a combat charm, we should at least make sure we have more options than just cloning ourselves.

And I don't like the sound of making a token appearance at the contest, then leaving. We should keep judging the contest, build more of a rapport with Mo, and ensure we have an ally for dealing with Geng Tu. The Semi-Finals are just as important as the actual finals. We should be there if we can.

Updating the task list.

Poster-suggested ideas
Rah13 - The dripping of the water at A Second of Eternity has always stood out to Kong Zhi. It's something that KZ would like to keep with him always. KZ will carve out a container for the water out of wood, covered in preserving runes, and will the container at the Second to collect some of the dripping water, in hopes of creating a Material of Time that has the same periodic dripping sound that the dripping water has at the Second.
HousePet - Craft new Cycling Aid ("something like Steel/Ice/Light. Maybe as a vase. Can be used as a cycling aid, stores left over anam, glows when it has charges in it, also chills drinks. Light/Steel for aiding and tempering anam flow. Steel/Ice as an anam storage effect. Ice/Light to make a cool ambient glow. Partly inspired by A Cloud's Breath. Depending on the materials used, I'm picturing a crystal like vase, possibly make from mixed materials. When used in cycling, a dancing aurora will appear around the top of the vase")

The current round is the semi-finals, and the next round will be the finals already. That's why Kong Zhi was given the option to eliminate up to 10 (out of 12) competitors during the current round, leaving as few as 2 competitors for the next round i.e. the finals.

Fan Zhao considers the question, turning to regard you and even scanning his eyes over you."We are close to the end of the competition," he finally answers. "The next round after this one will be the finals. So eliminating a great number of them now will only help us later. I've been removing six at a time, but if you wish to do more, none will gainsay you."

...

In Plan Format, please devise your contest round! Your plan must answer the following questions:
-How many people do you wish to eliminate (Minimum: 1. Maximum: 10.)
-What resources you require from Mo Hanying (Can be materials, charms, or resources totaling up to 15 Sect Points per competitor).
-What is the actual competition?

Chui Dao is interesting, but it can wait till A. the deer is dead and B. Fractal is done. It's going to take many actions to unlock the full potential of the hammer and learn whatever hammer art we use with it, and those can wait until after we check some tasks *off* the list.

These *are* the semi-finals. We're already judging them.

We're already in semi-finals? (Could've sworn that was next week...)

Either way, I'd like to be around when the Finals get into full swing.
So drop down to 1 fractal action?
That works. We can increase the number of Fractal actions once the Deer is out of the way.

If there's no rush to finish A Fractal View before the Deerfight, why don't we Triple-Down on AFV? Since A Love Transfixed is such a mechanically potent and narratively significant material, it makes sense that Kong Zhi would want to put in his absolute best into the charm being made out of ALT. Merely Doubling Down seems insufficient to count as "putting in his all" and "staking his pride as a charmcrafter and the son of Kong Shuren on the line".

How about no? Doubling down is already adding a lot of actions to our plate and preventing us from getting stuff done, and you want to triple down, adding yet more actions for even lower benefit? No. Just no. We have other stuff to do.

Just because we lost the vote is no reason to get like this about it, mate.

I mean, the same logic could be used to suggest quadrupling down. Or quintipling!

Doubling down is spending time perfecting the charm. Tripling down seems more like obsessing than perfecting to me.

This. For the love of God please let's not add something else to our list before we start checking things *off*. We can't do everything. We don't have time to learn a hammer art right now because we just voted to spend six extra actions on a charm.

Same goes for the finals. Tbh I don't think we can spend more actions on it but even if we can, we shouldn't.

Turning up to the finals is what we committed to, way back when Mo proposed this job to us. So I very much hope people will vote to do it. Doing the semi-finals like this was optional, although well worth it just from the writing so far alone.

Dedicating 2 AP to Fractal next week seems fine to me. It continues to plink away at the BT while allowing us to spend say 2 AP on Shatter the mirror and potentially 2 AP on combat socials.

How many actions did it take to unlock it's amazing potential to aid us in making any kind of charm with metal?

20 successes per craft action.

It's not just a hammer we found at the market. It's a hammer consisting of some kind of merge between a young kukuni and a kukuni that was supposed to aid in a desperate war. We got it at the end of a quest line where we could have had a private wonder or Natural Treasure instead.

Even if it's just gonna do some kind of anam interference against the Deer, like Widow Ward managed by accident, it'll be worth an action.

I think we won't be allowed not to turn up for the finals. When that week rolls up, for the weekly action plan vote, there'll probably be a cue that the "Turn up to judge the final round" action "must be selected in the final plan", like what happened for the charmcrafting duel with the Jin.

Duel Actions
[X] After two months of snipes and jabs, the time is finally upon you. Your champion shall meet Jin Yazhu's on the battlefield, and you shall see who is the superior charmcrafter. (This must be selected in the final plan.)
[] You have selected your friend Jai Fa as your champion, and you know she shall represent you well. But she still needs experience with the charms she will be wielding. You will take her to a training ground and allow her practice with your arsenal.
[] Jin Yazhu has certainly selected his champion champion by now. You will attempt to follow him and glean who it will be.
-[] Write-In Plan
[] The treacherous Jin Yazhu is no doubt hard at work crafting charms to defeat you. You will attempt to observe what can laughably be called his 'creation process', and better learn what you will be facing.
-[] Write-In Plan
[] While you would never stoop to such depths unless necessary, you are certain that Jin Yazhu is planning something underhanded. You have secured your workstation, but there is always more you can do to further your defenses.
-[] Write-In Plan
