Can someone spell out the speculation? Because it sounds like you're thinking "Beryl's reincarnation." But the original Beryl is still around, so what... this would make Naru the reincarnation of her abandoned good side or something?

Oh, are we doing the Beryl is Naru's mom thing? I remember that being a thing in the fandom at some point.

Has there been any actual indication Beryl is up and active?
Directly, no, but if she's not, then who's running the Dark Kingdom?

If I had to bet on either "Beryl is running the Dark Kingdom as per canon" OR "Beryl is 'hidden' and is actually Naru," I'd bet on the former.

I'm not worried about that, because Usagi didn't do anything in her civilian identity during the Cinderella Caravan that would make her stand out from the hundreds of other attendees. And we've been repeatedly shown how absurdly effective the cognito-hazardous identity protection of the Senshi's transformation is, Jadeite simply cannot comprehend any connection between the different identities without personally witnessing the transformation. Also he's still hopping around between other plots like the Midnight Radio and resettling the Clock Youma, so that's less chance of us even stumbling upon each other in mutual civilian guises anyway.
I'm not concerned about him figuring out the Sailor Moon identity from observing civilian Usagi, but I am worried that if we keep wandering around his plots as civilian Usagi, eventually he'll start to recognize the hair or something, and then civilian Usagi becomes a Person of Interest, if only because she keeps popping up around his plots.

Oh, are we doing the Beryl is Naru's mom thing? I remember that being a thing in the fandom at some point.
That would be both more and less plausible, seeing as how literally the first thing that happens in the series is that a youma ties up Naru's mom and sticks her in a closet or something. I'm pretty sure Beryl wouldn't sit still for that shit. Plus, she wouldn't need a youma to take over her own jewelry store; she could handle the energy drain herself.

No opinion on whether or not to tell Usagi, but cleaning up London is important. As for Plan:Group Study Session, it'd be perfect if it switched from "Ask Daddy about budgeting" to "Go to Shapelin Gym", but it's close enough as is. The important thing is that it has Usagi doing her homework, which is an important habit to get into.

Because I'd prefer to clear out as many subplots as we can before they start piling up.

Hmm. I can certainly agree that targeting the pet shop is a priority. On the other hand, from a narrative perspective it'd be a lot better if we're tipped off by Shingo's Chanela first I think, instead of just randomly investigating the shop itself, ideally by the 'spend time with family' option. @Lunaryon, can you offer any input here?

I mean, while you don't know about any potential evil, you did hear a rumor two turns ago about the Shop selling exotic pets, which is why the Shop has been an option for a white.

And there is a non zero chance that your brother might come up in conversation if you spend time with any member of your family.

Ah shoot, I forgot that Fly to the Moon doesn't do anything about the Midnight Radio plot either. Our home room teacher and a bunch of other people are already in comas at the hospital, and this is an early heavy drain plot, so we want to shut it down sooner rather than waiting until someone dies. I hate doing it, but I'm going to switch out the Transformation Pen Personal for the Radio Show in my plan if no one objects.

With that, Too Many Plates should actually be trying to address all of the known or suspected ongoing Youma plots on our list: Pet Store Perfume, Midnight Radio, Shrine Buses, Chen, and Shapelin Gym.

Totally forgot that, assumed it wasn't an option with all the other stuff going on.

Maybe eventually we'll cripple them enough that we won't have a constant backlog of unfoiled DK plots?

Anyway, changing my vote:

Prioritization. Also, we have no in setting knowledge of where other Youma plots are other than the Gym, and it seems to be in a long term renewable pattern. We have suspicions on the pet shop, but haven't investigated so we don't know about it either. We know of a possible bus full of people that has disappeared some weeks ago, and that we're on a time crunch now if it's true and not just an urban legend rumor at school. We won't realize the pet shop plot being urgent until we talk to our mother. We haven't seen any detriment to the gym yet so we can, reluctantly, put it to the back burner. And we'll likely be rushing the pet shop next week, and that's assuming we don't pick up more Youma plots while trying to track down the bus. In short... we have no leads on the radio show, we know nothing about why so many people are dropping into comas and we have at least two Youma plots just about ready to blow up in our faces. And unless TM decides to drops us a clue about the radio show it'll be awhile before we figure that out.

So, as much as some people want to meta game this. Prioritization says that we focus on looking for Youma plots; likely, incidentally, finding the bus, a small chance of finding the radio show, and dealing with what we find, or putting it into the roster of "crap to take care of." And yes, that also means putting Chen on the back burner because we also have no evidence that that is a Youma plot, and we just don't have the time, or personnel, to look into it alongside everything else.

Yes this does mean we'll end up with a bit of a "monster of the week" routine. But with our exceedingly small numbers we currently have no option but to take it as is. Once we get up to five available Sailor Senshi we can then bum rush the to do list and sweep up a good chunk of extant on going Youma plots that we have any information on. And look for more.

So, an unexpected bit of hilarity and/or evidence towards "Naru and Beryl are connected" came up, in the form her Heart Flower: A purple freesia.

Freesia's symbolize, depending on the system/who you ask: friendship, trust, thoughtfulness, innocence, a marriages 7th year, selflessness, obligation, sweetness, spring, unconditional and purity. But the colour has an additional meaning, and you know what purple represents?

Royalty and Beauty. :thonk:

My problems with "Plan: Too Many Plates":

1. We already know where the last Inner Guardian is: Mars is at the Hino Shrine, and should show up if we do the disappearing buses thing. I also don't think we will successfully sequence break hard enough to find the Outer Senshi. This looks like a waste of an action.

2. Given how many other suspected active DK plots are going on, I don't think going to Shapelin Gym is the best use of our time. I would rather spend that action on an investigation.

3. Makoto lives in Nerima. This puts her near the bottom of the list of people to investigate Pet Store Perfume (only Naru ranks lower, due to her lack of magical firepower). I would rather have her doing something that takes advantage of her location.
> My plan was "expand the nature of your magic," but I would also be happy with "look for signs of DK activity", since her location in Nerima means she's in position to spot things the others would miss.

4. I was kind of hoping to have all the current investigations done this turn. That includes the Clock Youma one.

We're not technically playing as Usagi; we're technically playing as a voice in Usagi's head (that difference is where the Overly Emotional failure chance fits into things).

As "the voice of Princess Serenity," we have knowledge Usagi doesn't. I'm perfectly willing to metagame this. Metagame knowledge is one of our keys to making this series play out better for the good guys than canon did.

(edit 2) In canon, Luna saw that there was "something not right" about Shingo's pet. I admit that Luna's position to do that noticing might be worse here than in canon, but I still think it's plausible for this story to follow that particular track.

We do have a lead on the radio plot, our homeroom teacher that fainted had a broach on from the show. We noticed that in-character, it was pointed out in the narrative that we were suspicious. We have a reason to check it out.

Also, most of these have been running for weeks or months, and the clock youma shows that they have some set-up time for new plots. This is just clearing out the backlog.

We're also denying them resources. They were recruiting at that school for a reason, and we're killing off their lieutenants.

That's fair, I guess. I didn't include it for fear of overextending ourselves, but maybe I should have.

My main problem is that a lot of people wanted Fly Me To The Moon changed in various ways, but the exact nature of the desired changes was kinda... scattershot. There didn't seem to be any one obvious thing I was sure most people would agree made it 'better.'

1. I don't think that's exactly how it works, based on how the action played out on previous turns. Actions that put us in the vicinity of characters we know are Senshi OOC, like looking for a Dojo bringing us to Makoto's area or investigating the Shrine buses to get into Rei's area, certainly give us the opportunity to meet them. However, combining such serendipitous meetings with actually dedicating Usagi's attention to keeping an eye out for hidden Senshi is what draws her attention to them and makes her consider "Huh, could this girl I just met be...?" more quickly. The focus of the Bus investigation action is on the Buses, not on paying any focus on shrine maidens we may or may not run into in the process. My concern is that doing the investigation without subconsciously reminding Usagi to keep an eye out for the next Guardian will just result in Rei getting introduced as a named acquaintance that we'd have to spend more actions later to meet with and gradually figure out her true status, whereas synergizing the actions should accelerate the realization and get her on the team sooner. Besides, it's not like the Intrigue section has any other specific actions that need doing instead.

2. My plan already has us investigating all the ongoing specific Youma plots available, and has us do a general search for new plots we haven't heard anything about yet. Also the other purpose of going to Shapelin is to make sure Usagi keeps working out and makes the Martial upgrade she got from it permanent, otherwise it's going to fade away.

3. There's been no indication in any of the previous turns that the particular location a character lives has any effect on the rolls for different actions. If investigating the Pet Shop was too far away for Makoto to do then she wouldn't have the option of doing it, and there's nothing in the text of her version of it to indicate that she'll have more difficulties than anyone else. All of the girls have been using the trains to get stuff done all over the city without issue, this should be no different. Everyone else has too many other things they need to do with their Personal Actions, there's nothing wrong with Makoto taking this other important task off their hands.

4. There aren't any other investigation actions available that my plan isn't doing other than looking for the Clock Youma, but the text for that states that since he's currently in transit, trying to locate him is going to be particularly difficult until he gets resettled. That also means he's not actually doing a plot right now, and so isn't causing any harm yet like all of the other plots we need to address. My plan already has us getting into at least half a dozen conflicts in a single week, we don't need to burn ourselves out looking for another one on top of that. Go after him next week, when we won't be stretched as thin on priorities, and we'll probably have better chances of locating him too.

The decision is ultimately up to you, the only thing everyone who spoke up agrees on is that Makoto's action shouldn't be kept on the generic investigation as your plan currently does. At this point, there's simply too many Youma problems we need to deal with ASAP, most of which only Usagi can address, that I don't think we can afford not to have Makoto do the Pet Shop. It costs us nothing to do her School Transfer next week.

Changing vote. We need to do the radio station investigation, and Fly Me To The Moon isn't doing that. If I can't get everything I want, I'm going to move to the plan that gives the biggest fraction of it.

So is Luna just sleeping on the floor or Usagi's bed? Cause I know some pet owners that do that.

[Honestly considers switching the Makoto action]

[Realizes that there's no reasonable way to change the vote and get consensus on it this far in]
