On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

Isn't the current prevailing plan at risk of leaving us short of favour for Alchemy in the long run?
Princely Gift gives +100 Ravnsvake favor, we already have 60 favor there... 160 favor

The options costing favor that we have add up to 90, with an option that can be taken 0 or more times ... we could take it up to 7 times if we wanted to blow up all our favor.

And we don't need to spend it all in one turn anyway... we need Eltharin first, which we can already afford. Also interesting is that we can spend retainer actions on the Almanac request.

They probably have better things to be spending their time on, but it is a nice option to have since it makes working on it when we get there easier.

Ehh, i don't see the harm of dropping a couple of retainer actions in it just to expedite it a little. We're obviously going to take the 8 action version, because Snorri always goes EVEN FURTHER BEYOND, and at this Level of Favor, i don't think we should spend it all on getting extra progress.

Yep!

Thinking of Alchemy, when we've gained our exceptional specialty we're going to need to take more apprentices on so we can properly disseminate the art. Dwarves who have been trained in alchemy alongside runesmithing from the beginning would both have a very different take on it and be an interesting additional perspective to have in the quest.

It would make a nice milestone to set for when to take the next batches of them, as long as people don't try to use that as an excuse to put it off forever.

maybe. But i don't think this is something we can decide at this point in time. For all we know, alchemy might require master runes, in which case we won't be able to teach apprentices.
Karstah has a speciality in Odd and esoteric runes. It's likely she returns from her journey right at the time we have completed the basic alchemy chain

One thing I'm looking forward to is getting an elven teacher. I wonder if we can get one that can follow teaching Eltharin with teaching Aonquean, as that's probably necessary at some point in the process.

However, what she doesn't have is significant talent, which will probably be necessary in such a new field.

I don't have time to read through everything since the update so I'll just drop my vote and say merry Christmas/Happy holidays to everyone.

Honestly I'm super excited by the idea of going down the Alchemy path and making our own sub-guild. I see this as a way for Snorri to do to Runesmithing what Thungni did to Metalworking. To build upon and create something entirely new from it. It's not a perfect parallel but I think it's possible.

Merry Christmas guys.

OOC NOTE. This is only an opportunity to customize and have greater control over the contents of this commission. Snorri will do this regardless and do so to the best of his ability.
@soulcake Does this bit in the Triage Pt. 1 description mean that Snorri will make limbs for Orra even if we don't specifically include it in our plans? That we only need to spend an action if we want to try something specific instead of letting Snorri decide on his own?

Ylva, on the other hand, has broader bonuses in terms of her area of expertise, and would give us a prime reason to finally make the Hammer of Yeeting.
Sold! Smash Brothers Homerun Bat in hammer form, here we come...

Still not sure which plan to go with. Only thing that came to mind so far going through all the suggestion was a frustrated "Seriously, we do not need to grab every single commission - let someone else make the wedding gift while we study Gromril Chain and Valaya Runes as prep for that armor commission."

Yes, exactly. It should perhaps be said that spending actions on limb replacement is liable to get it done quicker than if Snorri's left to do it in the background, though.

And I suspect the wedding gift in particular has risen majorly in people's estimations because it gives 100 favour with ravnsvake, and ravnsvake favour is necessary to go all in on language lessons and alchemy studies further down the line.

For the Princely gift, I'm still hoping for a Talisman of Brotherhood, Grungni, and Grimnir, representing the brother gods' strength when working together to lead the dwarves.

For the limbs, is it worth considering adding the Rune of Stone to each limb as a common factor? Making them a set would seem ideal if possible.
