Weren't people just weighing the calculus about how strong we need to be now that Jadeite might be involved?
Yes, but in my honest opinion the answer is "we're probably OK, and if we aren't, then a few more spells or trinkets aren't going to make the difference." Except for the Disguise Pen, we're basically already cruising at or above the team's canonical mid-Season 1 power levels. We've got a probably more formidable Sailor Mercury, Sailor Jupiter is probably going to be as good as Sailor Mars in a fight, and...

Well, frankly, I suspect that a Moon-Mercury-Jupiter team will probably be a bit more effective just due to less random bickering, compared to the canonical Moon-Mercury-Mars lineup.

Anyway, you may have a point; I'm not sure what the planning situation will look like... Though I reject the idea that we should consistently have Luna doing Luna-only actions. The things only she can do aren't necessarily the things we need her doing most.

But maybe. On the inventory action.

A. Translating primer:

This was also on Usagi's list of Personal Actions, and Usagi has several of those, while Luna only has one (which is a little odd, to be honest; Usagi has school and such, Luna doesn't; what is Luna doing with that time?).
Well, lately she's been expanding her runic teleporter network to give service across much of Tokyo, so I imagine that's keeping her busy. Plus all the time she's been with us.

C. Working on the Bracelets (Study or Repair):

Ami has the Mercury Computer, which should give a significant bonus on either of these rolls. This might be worth giving to Ami instead, depending on what other options she has available and how many personal actions she has.

> How exactly is Luna supposed to repair them? She doesn't have hands.
I mean. The Mao are/were a magic and technology-using species in their own right. I assume they manage somehow.

Considering that all of Usagi's spells except Mend involve her super-charging one of her items (Moon Tiara, Public Address Hair Decorations) I think that Luna indexing her artifact collection could expand Usagi's repertoire. After all, the Moon Wand that Usagi uses for Moon Healing Escalation is part of that collection. Of course, there's also the Jupiter Bracelets (needs to be repaired) and Uranus Fans (needs to be purchased and repaired) to consider. What effects could Usagi conjure with them?

I wouldn't be surprised if uranus and jupiter items were incompatible with Usagi's magic. at the very least I expect them to work much better for their senshi.

Or they might simply be redundant with their powers, which would make them good artifacts for the senshi's champions. Their right hands, so to speak.

After all the Silver Millennium must have had more warriors than just the senshi (if they were even warriors in their past life at all)

Even just the previously mentioned Moon Stick that allows the use of Moon Healing Escalation alone would be worth a single Luna Action to get, and it's probably not the only thing we'd get out of it. Just that single artifact would allow us to boost our healing abilities much further than our current un-enhanced first level Mend spell, plus it's apparently our best option for potentially reversing the process that turns people into Youma. (I remember you mentioning purifying the Dark Generals as a stretch goal, and this sounds like a prerequisite for that.)

As for the argument that we're "good enough" for the current challenges based solely on the comparison to the canon show, I wouldn't bet on it. It's already been pointed out how the Cram School fight (and other Youma performances in general) was a lot more dangerous and tense than the canon episode, with more enemies than expected and Usagi getting bloodied. I expect that trend of greater challenge and stakes to continue, so I wouldn't rely on the show for our difficulty meter.

Anyway, you may have a point; I'm not sure what the planning situation will look like... Though I reject the idea that we should consistently have Luna doing Luna-only actions. The things only she can do aren't necessarily the things we need her doing most.

But maybe. On the inventory action.
I mean, it's only two things that are Luna-exclusive to get out of the way? And I don't know why you're dismissing the value of restoring Luna's memories, she could have all sorts of useful information for us. I'm pretty sure that the Rainbow Tree (a hidden potential base of operations designed to have powerful magic to protect the Earth) quest hook that got unlocked was given as an example of the kind of things she can reveal.

And I wasn't arguing for Luna to only do actions unique to her and completely ignore anything that overlaps with other characters. If something needs to be done, then we should have the best person for the job take it on, absolutely. It's just that, out of the most recent list of actions she can attempt, for most of them Luna frankly isn't the best person for the job. Two of them are her unique personal actions, two are Intrique actions, while the rest are Learning actions. And Luna's Learning stat seems to be the worst of our entire group (although who knows, maybe that's actually due to her amnesia and it'll increase to a more useful amount if her memory gets restored?). So if we need one of those Learning tasks done, then we're better off assigning Ami to it, or even Usagi in the case of things like the Primer since apparently she and Luna are the only ones who understand High Lunar right now. Otherwise we risk Luna failing the roll and just wasting the action entirely like we already did with the premature Bracelet Repair attempt.

In the case of the remaining two Intrigue actions, Luna should certainly be the one to do them as our Spymaster. However, those are looking for DK plots and looking for the other Senshi, and as mentioned we already have leads to pursue on both. So for this coming turn at least, our options for Luna are actually rather flexible, so we should take advantage of that while we have the opportunity before we have to start scrambling after the next batch of plots.

I think you're underestimating the power of alliteration. Look at how well Madoka, Mami and Moemura did in PMMM, for instance.
you mean how two of them died and the other was stuck in a time loop for the equivalent of a few decades of torture, with each loop getting somewhat worse, including one in which Mami lost her head (figuratively), another in which she lost her head (literally), one in which Madoka destroyed the world, and the final one in which Moemura became the devil? :V

This is very frustrating - I have about half the update written, but I am really struggling with moving from the current scene to the final set of scenes.

This is very frustrating - I have about half the update written, but I am really struggling with moving from the current scene to the final set of scenes.
You've probably already gone to bed, but one thing I sometimes do is try to figure out how to write the end (I'm assuming that if you have the dice rolls, you know the 'shape' of how things are going to turn out), then work backwards until all you need is a bridging segment.

Sometimes if you're lucky, the answer turns out to be "I can do a scene cut commercial break in the middle here and avoid the specific bridging segment I was trying to avoid writing." :p

Cinderella Caravan Part 5: Magic Overload, Arriving at the Caravan
[X][Cinder] Go Now, try and find the Demon and stop them now
"Come on," Ami says with a small smile holding out one end of the Mercury Supercomputer, "If you hold the far end of the Mercury Supercomputer, I can run a program that will channel magic through your body, awakening the source of your magic, allowing you to be able to fight."

Makoto is quiet for a moment, looking at the magical piece of technology being held out to her with trepidation before she nods. Taking hold of the end, there is a deep hum, the entire room feeling charged, even the other girls can feel it.

The power begins to grow, as tiny arcs of electricity begin to snap and spark and pop, tiny arcs of power rising up off her body, before they lash out and fading away into nothingness.

The energy in the room starts to build, growing higher and higher - Ami's eyes are starting to glow with an inner blue light, as mist exudes from her every breath. At the same time, Makoto's eyes begin to glow a dark green.

Then... Floating right before Ami's forehead is the glowing symbol of Mercury. Which is strange, given that nothing like this happened when Ami helped Usagi learn how to use her magic back in Kamakura.

"Usagi," Naru whispers, "You're glowing."

"What?" The girl asks, before glancing down at her own hands, which are glowing silver.

"And... Your eyes too, plus," the girl motions to her own forehead. Now that Usagi is looking at Naru - The girl's eyes are also glowing, but it is a far fainter golden glow, matched the thinnest of shimmers across her skin, like looking at the floor of a pool through all the water. "What is going on?" The girl asks, before she gasps pointing to Makoto. Or rather, Makoto's forehead, where there floats the shimmering green light is the familiar symbol of the planet of Jupiter.
LUNA ROLL: 3 + 12 = 15
[SUCCESS]
However, Luna's attention isn't on the glowing sign of Jupiter that was hovering over Makoto's forehead, but instead on the similarly glowing symbol of the upturned moon floating right before Usagi's brow.

The cat's head was tilted to one side, with a look somewhere between baffled and completely disbelieving. As if she were seeing something that she honestly couldn't believe that she was seeing.

"Aha!" Usagi cheers bouncing up and down as she points towards Makoto, "I had a feeling that there was something special about you!" The girl turns to Luna, who is still looking at Usagi instead of Makoto. "Luna, Luna! Aren't you going to give Makoto her transformation trinket?"

The blonde's question finally manages to snap the cat out of her confusion, with her shaking her head before looking around the room. "Oh, oh no. Usagi. Naru. Listen to me, and do exactly what I saw, exactly as I say. Move slowly, and get the windows open. If you move too quickly, then you might end up igniting all the magic in the room." Luna looks to Usagi, "Which... might not be too bad if you cause it Usagi... but, Naru the only magic you know right now is Earth aligned magic, which would probably end up turning everything in the apartment to stone. Not any of us, but let's not ruin Makoto's things..."

The two girls move slowly and carefully, taking a few minutes to finally reach the windows, and once they finally get them open - The change in the air is palpable as the shimmering magical effects surrounding each of the girls slowly begins to fade away. "Okay," Luna says, tiny sparks of electricity dancing across her fur as she shakes the last of the effects away from her. "Right..." The cat groans. "Massive amounts of magic in a small space. I can't say that I was expecting that."

The slowly setting sun paints the sky in purples and reds, while the shining windows shine down on the sidewalks and road, tinting the city streets in gold. Usagi, Ami and Makoto look up at the towering office building before them - The main offices of the Cinderella Caravan - the light of the sun painting the Green four leaf clover that rests atop the 'C' in Cinderella almost blindingly bright yellow.

"So... How are we going to get inside?" Makoto asks, staring up at the building. All the while, one hand is firmly in the pocket that holds her new Transformation Pen that Luna gave her before the three girls left on their way here.

"While they aren't closed, we don't exactly have any reason to go inside..." Ami says, before Usagi starts to giggle.

"You aren't thinking about it the right way," Usagi says, pointing straight up. "There has to be a roof entrance, right? For like... window cleaning people and stuff."

"Well, yes," Makoto agrees, looking up to the rooftop many stories above them, "But how are we supposed to get up there?"

"It's time for your first lesson in being a Sailor Senshi~" Usagi singsongs, a huge grin on her face, "Follow me!"

Usagi practically sprints down into the alleyway besides the building. She look to one side then the other, before checking both ways again. Bringing a hand to her brooch, the girl can't help but grin as she calls on the activation phrase of the magical artifact around her neck. "Moon Prism Power!" There is a flash of light, and Usagi is once more the Heroine Sailor Moon. "Come on, you too."

Makoto looks to Ami, who grins holding up her own Transformation Pen.

"Mercury Power Makeup!"
"Jupiter Power Makeup!"

"Okay," Makoto says, looking down at her transformed form... "This is..." Her hands slowly clench and unclench, lightning playing across her fingers. "Cool."

Usagi laughs, a bright and happy smile on her face, "I know, right?" The grin on her face grows even wider, "And you haven't seen nothing yet!"

"Usagi." Ami complains at the girl's butchering of language, but the girl simply sticks out her tongue, before crouching down and blasting up into the air, the concrete beneath her feet shattering from the force.

Makoto's head tracks back and up, following Usagi's arc through the air, up three stories to land on the building behind the girl, and across the alley from the Cinderella Caravan.

Ami sighs, shaking her head in an almost 'What can you do' manner, before she too crouches, and leaps with all her strength. There is no shattering of concrete, but the girl equally manages to reach the rooftop. "Okay," Makoto whispers to herself, dropping down into a crouch herself, readying herself for a leap.

Makoto puts everything in her leap, pushing off the ground with a thunderous CRACK. All around the girl the world blurs into motion, one story passes, then a second, then the third, then the roof, but the girl isn't stopping, she isn't even slowing.

In fact, she is still accelerating. The forth, fifth, sixth stories all pass, then passes the roof of the Cinderella Caravan, before the girl starts to feel the pull of gravity, the world starting to try and draw her back down into it's eternal embrace. It takes a moment, but the girl manages to flip in the air, allowing her to see the now approaching rooftop of the Cinderella Caravan. With a heavy Thud, she lands. A moment later, Sailor Moon and Sailor Mercury manage to leap up, landing atop the Cinderella Caravan's roof just as Sailor Jupiter did, just with less force or fanfare.

"Woah~" Usagi cheers on, a huge smile on her face. "That was so cool!" The girl says, "You can jump so much higher than I can."

"Maybe if we work on it, We'll be able to leap like she can eventually." Ami says, patting Usagi on the back. There is another few moments of Usagi gushing over just how cool Makoto is, before the blonde haired warrior of Love and Justice manages to pull herself back to why they are all here.

"Alright..." Usagi says, looking around the roof, "Ah!" The girl points to a rooftop access door. "That's what I was looking for."

The three carefully make their way to the door, and a quick check reveals that yes - The door is unlocked.

The three are in!

The halls of the top floor are... empty. Not a person to be seen, the only sound the soft click-clacking of the Senshi's heels on the linoleum tiles. Door after door the girl's make their way past, trying to find something, anything out of place that they can use to try and find the Dark Kingdom or the Youma.

There are so many doors, and just opening them isn't an option - not if they want to remain undetected. Then, after making their way through so many of the halls, a door opens, and a middle aged man walks into the hall, coming out right between Ami and Usagi.

Makoto dives to one side, sliding quickly and effectively out of view, while Sailor Mercury simply continues to walk along, acting like everything is completely fine, like she belongs right where she is...

Usagi... Panics, letting out a sharp "Eep!" Before leaping back...

The man doesn't react. Slowly, Usagi creeps forward, even as the man turns towards her. The girl barely manages to get out of the way, even while waving a hand in front of his face, but the man doesn't seem to notice her, doesn't seem to notice anything.

With something of a lead, the girls begin to follow the blank faced man, watching as he continues through the halls, completely and totally unaware of his followers. Finally, after minutes of following the stranger, the three girls find themselves standing before the elevators, and far more usefully, a floor map of the building.

Not an actual map, but something that marks out what is set on each of the different floor.

Usagi is to good at accidental brainwashing. We need to get Luna and Ami (with some help from the Usagi expert Naru) to break the conditioning.

I'm a bit unclear on whether there are typos in this list of effects, but I won't complain with it as-is.

D'awww. Though I imagine Makoto's going to want to do her own equivalent of what Usagi did at the construction site, to get a better feel for her own strength. That jump doesn't sound entirely beyond the one Sailor Moon did at the construction site, but it's up there, and the risk of getting out of control is real. Plus, it's Makoto, so "worried about breaking things by not knowing my own strength" is already on her mind and will be only more so.

Makoto dives to one side, sliding quickly and effectively out of view, while Sailor Mercury simply continues to walk along, acting like everything is completely fine, like she belongs right where she is...

Hmmmm.

1) Managerial Offices
-If Jadeite (?) is in the building, he's probably here. If we want to get him alone with no immediate allies to hand, this would be it. If it's not him, there's a good chance that someone in charge is. Either a brainwashing victim we can Moon Tiara Stardust to get some help figuring out what's happened, or a youma involved with the plot.

2) Studio Floor
-Also a reasonably good chance of finding someone important to the plot. I don't know if the Caravan's normal business is proceeding as usual.

3) Recording
-Some chance of finding, eh dunno, Miss Takahashi. Likely to be technicians here who we can un-brainwash for intelligence on the situation.

4) Dark Room
-Theoretically for developing photographs. Remember, it's the '90s. Digital camera technology is in its infancy; film cameras are the norm. It's possible that there's some punning going on and that the youma have taken this area over as a barracks or something, but this is a legitimate area you'd expect to find here.

5) Talent Offices
-See (3). Hard to predict exactly who we'd find here. If Mikan (who goes to our school) had any single place in the building that was hers, it'd be here. And Mikan was canonically replaced by the youma who ambushed her in the shower, then imprisoned and impersonated her. Here, "Mikan" is the one ringing the chimes, which strongly suggests that the same thing is going on here.

6) Break Room and Staff Kitchen
-Hard to predict who we'd find here, again. With the staff clearly brainwashed there might not be anyone here. On the other hand, this is one of the most conveniently repurposable spaces in the building if the youma are setting up a barracks or need a weird runic array to sustain the brainwashing or something.

7) Front Office and Lobby
-This is a great place to control entry and exit to the building... which we have no particular need to do. :p

And realizing that with Usagi being the reincarnation of the Moon Princess they are doomed.

It's a bit hard to tell what Luna's reaction is, considering she tends to keep her cards close to her chest for...well, a lot of things, really.

If she viewed finding the Princess as more of a "mechanical" objective, being the person required to unite the Rainbow Crystals (which, as far as I'm aware, she has NOT told the Sailor Senshi about yet) into the Silver Crystal, which she's played up as the "I win" button against the Dark Kingdom, then congratulations! Usagi's here, she's already willing to help, and the best way to keep her safe until the Rainbow Crystals are collected is to train her to get stronger and smarter, which was her intention for "Sailor Moon" in the first place.

On the other hand, if she was viewing the Princess as "the prophesied ruler", someone who already had the wisdom, courage and strength to reclaim the Earth and Solar System under a glorious rule of love and magic, someone who actually had all the answers...it's a bit disappointing. I suspect that Luna might be getting tired of being "the most qualified person in the room" all the time, and was hoping to find a fully-formed leader that she would be comfortable ceding to. Instead, it seems that she's going to have to be playing the aggrieved teacher to rambunctious teenagers for quite some time.
