There's no guarantee it'll be read. Someone might just treat it as a prank or spam or even just not get to it in time.

Going in person establishes us as powerful but willing to cooperate. And even if they refuse to work with us we can at least be positive they know about this plot.
 
Curious, very interesting - only Minako seemed to know how to sing (according to the anime - also Rei). I wonder if Mako-chan dedicated a song to her Senpai?

It doesn't matter who we are if we are dead. The moon kingdom can wait until after this crisis. We need to bring her up to speed about the bare basics of what we are dealing with. But every action needs to be pointed towards increasing our capacity to fight the Youma, and safe the citizens.
My hope is that we can have Ami break into the auditorium after the real show starts if we can search the location before the location.
The most information can likely be gathered by examining the two known figures we can either discover if they are acting a lot out of character and if they are not this might be an indication that the third judge is the Youma, by virtue of elimination.

The first three items seem pretty mandatory to me. Otherwise any plans we make should be deciding whether we want to try attacking the Youma early at the headquarters or stick to our original plan of confronting it at the competition. So the last two options we choose should be focused on one or the other, not split between them.

Although @Lunaryon the seventh option about searching for the location of the Auditorium seems unnecessary since the brainwashing magic already told us where it'll be:

Option eight also seems pretty pointless since we're already assuming people are going to be acting strangely, and there's nothing we can do about it even if they are, since the news information isn't going to help much with finding exactly where they are so we can run around purifying them one by one.

Usagi stops everything she is doing, just listening as her friend just lets go, singing with all her heart. The way that Makoto's eyes drift close as she sings, the way that she sways back and forth. Makoto is giving it her all, and there is a part of Usagi that can't help but wish that there wasn't a demon invading this contest, because Usagi honestly thinks that Makoto had a chance of actually winning the contest.

Aww. Also, continuing to gently feed the Galilean Ship. ;)

Usagi can see the girl move, and again it is like watching something strike through molasses, so much slower than any of the Youma that the girl has faced off against before. However, unlike when this same thing happened against Chen, Usagi finds herself moving - Not as quickly as Sailor Moon, no. But still notably faster than Usagi used to be able to.

Hwrm. Does that increase or decrease our transformed combat performance, or is it a wash? I forget how that works, mechanically...

"Makoto!" Usagi cries, "What are you doing?"

"I won't let you take away my chance to be a star!" The girl responds, growling as her face twist into anger.

"Wait!" Usagi pleads, dodging another strike, "Please," she tries again, before having to move out of the way of a sharp kick. "STOP!"

For a moment, there is a look on Makoto's face, one that is filled with... something. Usagi doesn't have the slightest idea what that emotion is, she has never seen anything like it before, and when Makoto's foot finally touches the ground, she goes still, 「My lady... I... 」 Makoto speaks, but it isn't in Japanese. That...

That was High Lunar.

Makoto drops to her knees, bowing low before Usagi, 「Apologies, I... I don't know what came over...」 The girl's words trail off, before she blinks, a deeply confused look on her face. 「Wait... Usagi? What...?」 But any and all thoughts on how Makoto is speaking in High Lunar, because there is something far more important at the moment.

Oh wow that is... intense and surprising.

Dropping to her knees as well, Usagi wraps Makoto up in a tight hug, even as her magic starts to billow up from her soul, wrapping both of the girls in an aura of shimmering silver, stripping away the magic manipulating her friend's mind.

The two of you sit there for a long moment, Makoto struggling with her thoughts, while Usagi just revels in the feeling of Makoto's strong arms wrapped around her.

"Usagi... what just happened?" Makoto asks as she starts to pull her thoughts together.

"Ah..." Usagi doesn't answer right away. "That's uhm... Well... uh..."

"Usagi." The girl says again, clearly not asking.

"It's a long story." Usagi starts to deflect, "But uh... Magic is real. The DK are demons, not terrorists, and you clearly have something to do with all of that, cause you spoke Ancient Lunar right then."

"What." The flat way that Makoto reacts causes Usagi's lip to twitch, just the little bit.

"It's a reincarnation thing." Usagi explains, "Oh, Reincarnation is real too. That is also a thing." Makoto starts to push herself up to her feet, and for the smallest of moments Usagi resists, far preferring her spot in Makoto's arms, but she allows the taller girl to stand with the smallest of sighs. "Okay... so to explain all of this, we should probably head... Uhh..." Where would be a good place to- Oh, duh. Usagi would likely have slapped her forehead, but right now isn't the time for that. "There should be a payphone nearby. I need to call Naru and Ami. There... two of my other friends, they also know about all of this stuff. Ami will definitely be able to remember anything that i forget about the explanations."

Poor Makoto.

At this point, the original plan of waiting and seeing what happens at the Talent show may very well be a bust, in no small part due to the Paranoia affect that seems to be present in whatever is happening to those affected by the chimes that the Judges were using. Even worse, you still don't know which of the judges is the actual Youma.

Could do a sweep with the glasses if we can get back into range... no wait, they're in a room alone. We'd have to visibly stake the place out (attracting suspicion), or get back into the room (what would be our justification). We could send, oh say, Ami in, but I don't think she'd filled out an application, plus the auditions may be over.

OK, hmmmm. Nine items, we have to cut four. Which four are least important?

1) News of people acting strangely isn't irrelevant, but by the time it gets into the news cycle in this pre-Twitter era, we'll have consumed a significant fraction of all our time before the event. Also, it's likely to confirm what we already know, because if the paranoia effect could turn Makoto into a bully it can do damn near anything to anyone.

2) Uh... @Lunaryon , wouldn't we have to know where the talent show is being held if we're going to, y'know, perform there? Presumably that would already be known information. If we don't have "Search for the location of the Auditorium that the Talent Show is going to be held in," does that somehow render us unable to attend at all, despite having 'passed' the 'preliminary qualification?'

Now, hmm. The male judge is alarmingly likely to be a Dark General, or at least a second youma backing up the operation. For investigative purposes we need that. We also need to know where the Caravan's headquarters are if we're going to try my "blow up the youma before the talent show and see if that fixes things" gambit.

3) Figuring out how hard it will be for Ami and Naru to get inside... Well, if we end up in a youma fight we don't want Naru inside, frankly, and Ami may have to infiltrate in her transformed state anyway. Plus if we can awaken Sailor Jupiter, then I'm a lot less worried about Ami not being able to get inside quickly for some reason, and my plan's gonna be trying hard to achieve that. Drop that.

4) Deducing which of the judges is a youma is important (in canon it's Mikan, and her being the one ringing the mind control chimes supports that), but I'm not sure how much of that we can get it by watching the news. It is fairly likely to become obvious after we Moon Tiara Stardust the place anyway.

So... plan that fully reads in Makoto and gives us our best shot at awakening her powers, while also giving us a reasonable chance to investigate the headquarters further... BUT that doesn't specifically investigate the judges as a whole and may run into some complications. This plan may have to be dropped if it turns out that "find out where the auditorium is" is mission-critical and can stop us from getting there on Sunday.

I do suggest we be this affectionate when we finally meet Rei. I do ship Usagi and Rei. Though I do support the Princess's Harem idea.
 
Was Luna listening in on the confrontation with Makato? because that "My Lady" comment was a huge hint drop that might jog elements of Luna's memory.

Not so much.
All the Senshi are royalty, Luna knows that.

There's still a disconnect between Royal Moon Warrior and the Moon Princess Serenity.

And they know she's a reincarnation, but not who.
A subject would refer to a Royal as such.
It becomes odd however when it's discovered she too is a Senshi, and thus a princess.


Btw I love her choice of song.

Or better, we walk into the precinct transformed and with a talking cat. Would be best to simply cut to the chase now I think. Also, if the mysterious brainwashing is on the news, whatever the anti-DK group is will almost certainly be active and looking over everything with a fine toothed comb.

Given that my original intention of building a vote set up in which there could be actual arguments against awakening Makoto right now...

Just kind of didn't work out.

You can write in going to the police, but know that it will result in a notable attention increase

I mean, I want to hold off on awakening her powers just a bit. She's already having to take in a lot at the moment. I'll at least try to throw in a plan for that.

The male judge is the most suspicious, but I worry that for an operation this big, we might be missing another Youma working for/with him. The auditorium is the main place to make sure our showdown goes on in, so we want easy access for our allies and to scout out the battlefield ahead of time. Finally explaining a bit of the most relevant parts to Makoto right now, but not overwhelming her.
