I'm always kinda uncertain if I really want to read it when Slaver's Bay comes up.
I've made over half a dozen unique devils working there over the last year (you met the Deimavigga) and I just don't wanna see them die, but our named people neither.
Too bad a peaceful solution was never attempted.

I can't believe that we've let this ritual stuff lie fallow for this long. There are so many fun and profitable uses. I don't recall the rules on ritual casting length, but assuming they take no more than a half hour on average I have some additional options.

First up, military and inquisitorial rituals:
Runic Marker: this summons a 6 ft stone pillar 2 ft in diameter. You can choose to put up to 25 words on it, and it comes with a blast type glyph of warding on it. you can fix the trigger condition at the time of casting as normal, and it's duration is permanent until the glyph discharges. This means we could effectively create a ritual of summon landmine for the legion. Sure they're obvious, but they're also stone pillars that are difficult to remove and can be disguised with some effort.

Tern's Persistence: I don't recall if we have this yet or not, but I bet having people ritua cast this on themselves or their fellow legionnaires is cheaper than using items for the same effect. Being able to travel overland 50% longer before experiencing any negative effects is nothing to sneeze at.

Shroud of Innocuity: This one makes you look like an innocuous member of the viewer's own race, which is useful for infiltration in some cases.

See Beyond: This one lasts 24 hours and provides a decent circumstance bonus to perception, in particular with regard to invisible or ethereal targets.

On the more civilian end of things, do we have rituals for Weather Eye, Preserve , or Ancient Knowledge? They seem like the kind of thing we'd already have rituals for, but I can't find a complete list so they seemed worth mentioning. Preserve in particular would eliminate food waste during transport, which would be fairly profitable if we're not already doing it.

  • [X] Report-series, or one super-sized report:
[X] Operation Salted Earth: The situation in the Ghiscari lands continues to be tense, but for now it seems viable to scale back operations and merely observe Baators movements. Recent attacks should have disrupted the enemies plans enough to move your assets to more pressing fronts while keeping a decently sized contingent to look for further developments.
-[X] New Ghis: The main goal here is to look into the political situation of the polity and to see how deep ties to the other cities have remained in face of the sea blockade cutting them off from each other. Also look into their current trade relations and the economic stability of the island while cataloging relevant information for a future invasion.

Part MMMDCXXXVIII: Beneath Tattered Wings
Beneath Tattered Wings

Twenty Third Day of the Third Month 294 AC

Reports from Slaver's Bay paint a region mired in conflict in which your forces are only a faction, albeit an important one, with your agents in the field taking a personal perspective on the general orders dealt.

New Ghis

From Alysande in New Ghis you get news that the city is more stable than anything you have seen in Meereen, mostly owing to a bold young tribune by the name of Sarker zo Mehle who was responsible for curbing the influence of the Harpies even at the zenith of the Harpy Queen's influence and moved decisively against the Sons of the Harpy when that power broke. The other two tribunes are an ailing old man and a known lotus eater, which is to say political non-entities, though ones that could be potentially swayed to paralyze the city's decision making at the right time.

In more worrisome news it is widely suspected that the Green Grace, Nandazda Aoq, is a sorceress and able to enchant and possess the wills of others, whether that marks her out as a skilled sorceress or simply a shell being worn by a devil Alysande was not able to safely ascertain yet. The umbral spy is still working its way up the chain of command in the temple, with the mages present carefully checking each new target before it makes the jump.

The last person of interest is one Gramdal mo Ia, Praetor of the People who had been identified as doing seemingly entirely legal business in the Imperium through a shell company headquartered in Elyria. He is seemingly a rival to Tribune Sarker, but hobbled by being bound to a lifetime appointment and ancient precedent that holds one man cannot hold both offices.

Salted Earth (New Ghis Information): 25/35 Progress (2d6 the PCs; 1d6 for the watch creatures; 2d6 for the Umbral creatures; 1d6 for the mind dragon)

Meereen

Shara and Teana's attempts to hold off the further machinations of Baator in Meereen have unfortunately met with less good success, though the Myrish golems proved their worth in a raid on one of the Inquisition's safe houses. Though a pair of the servitors were destroyed, their ability to not only ignore but counter most sorcery turned what could have been a massacre into something approximating an even field until reinforcements could arrive and drive the devils off. They took their dead with them as they retreated and Teana was not inclined to press attack with the identities of dozens of agents compromised.

In better news the Sons of the Harpy took the open confrontation with baatezu as an opportunity to launch their own attacks, slaying around a dozen members of the Council of Elders and one Praetor. When one adds the effects of your own assassinations last month the city is teetering on the edge. Shara makes a compelling case that whatever else the servants of the Lord of the Ninth are doing they must be diverting resources to keep Meereen stable.

Salted Earth (Meereen Contested Action): 23 vs ??? (2d6 the PCs; 1d6 for the watch creatures; 2d6 for the Umbral creatures; 1d6 for the mind dragon)

Lost 2 Glass Golems

Astapor

In the Red City Wyla reports no overt diabolic activity, though 'enhanced' Unsullied are growing ever more common. There seems to be a cleavage forming between those who will accept this arcane boon and traditionalists who rightly see it as a poisoned fruit. Some of the latter families are even quietly liquidating properties and fleeing the city entirely. Several opportunistic assassinations were times with these departures to sow dissent and remove those loyal to baator from power.

Towards the end of the month devil guards, particularly ones possessed of true sight, are growing more common. From the tone of Wyla's message it seems she misses the power of enthrallment that death had granted her. 'It would be so easy to make all the pieces tumble', she writes.

Salted Earth (Astapor Contested Action): 18 vs ??? (2d6 the PCs; +3 Teana Synergy; 1d6 for the watch creatures; 2d6 for the Umbral creatures; 1d6 for the mind dragon)

Yunkai

It was in the Yellow City however that the greatest clash of the region took place and it did not favor you. The use of some arcane poison meant to make the mind more suggestible by devils skilled in illusion and enchantment compromised five full Inquisition cells, with only rigorous adherence to protocols and decisive leadership from Inquisitor Anya preventing your presence in the city from being swept into the sea. A full scale raid was organized on a diabolic fortress structured in the hills beyond the city, leading the the death of scores of lesser devils and cultists and the capture of compromising information which might be used in the future... after it has been thoroughly checked.

Salted Earth (Yunkai Contested Action): 9 vs ??? (2d6 the PCs; +3 Teana Synergy; 1d6 for the watch creatures; 2d6 for the Umbral creatures; 1d6 for the mind dragon)

Lost 7,000 IM In replacing material and personnel

Lost 8x Black Brutes

-4 Progress next turn due to damage

169 HD of Sacrifices Gained (Max CR 5)

OOC: I hope the contested rolls work, you guys don't see them but the enemy is rolling d6s too depending on the quality and quantity of their assets.

I'd defer this to the turn-vote to be honest, since the strategy depends a lot on the ressources that will be available next month. I'd also rather continue to give more detailed marching orders then to use just vague stage directions.

OOC: I hope the contested rolls work, you guys don't see them but the enemy is rolling d6s to depending on the quality and quantity of their assets. Not yet edited.
Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

I like the format, and the contested rolls seem to be working well.

BTW, unless they were completely obliterated, the Glass Golems can each be restored for 2,000 IM using the Memory of Function repair facility.

[X] Delay determining further courses of action in Slaver's Bay until the next turn vote.

[X] To Extinguish the FeyFire: The battle between R'hlor and Ymeri is beyond even you and your closest Companions to help directly... yet, as shown by the forces he gathers to break into Ymeri's domain, much can still be done to smoothen that out.
-[X] Goal: Support R'hlor's forces in killing Ymeri.
----[X] [Airforce] 1st to 4th Battlegroups, 1st and 2nd Fighter Squadron, 1st Bomber Squadron (3x Moonchaser Type A, 1x Dauntless, 12x Wyvern Type-B, 31x Wyvern Type-A, 8x Manticore)
----[X] [Other Forces] Yrael; Moonsong; Amrealth; the Hadhayosh (CR 20); Bloom the Brijidine; The Harbringer (CR 17); 15x Heralds

Overtaking b/c Goldfish didn't include the force-numbers.

So more spells to base items or rituals on to help with this shit show:

Detect Fiendish Presence: level 0, concentration up to 10 minutes/CL, and shaped like a 60 ft cone. It works like detect evil except that it only effects evil outsiders
but also picks up lingering traces of their gifts, presence and spells. They can probably block this, but I'm betting it's annoying to need to clean up after every single worthwhile servant.

Detect Charm: level 1, concentration up to 1 minute/CL, and shaped like a 60ft cone. Works like detect magic, but only picks up charm, compulsion and possession effects. It does give position and strength instantly though, and some bonuses to finding the caster.

Devil Blight: This is more for casters than for rituals or items since it's level 3, but it has some fun effects. It lasts 1d6 rounds and effects a single living target. For that duration it does 2d6 damage per round to lawful evil creatures with no save allowed. For baatezu it also requires they make a fort save or be stunned for the duration of the spell.

For our minions that's a great edge to have against low to mid grade devils.

@BronzeTongue, just make a list, please?
Preferably with an OOC note (1-5 rate, or smth) on how important us getting any given ritual is?
I'll do my best to fit them in into being researched accordingly.

You have posted 3 different lists on the matter of "turn spells into rituals, b/c bad shit around" now, I really really won't be able to find everything by the time I get around to assigning RAs, if ya keep at it.
