There's some hope; if their souls aren't eaten after they die I'd give good odds of the seven letting them know the cliff notes of how they died. That seems like the kind of question you'd deal with a lot when processing new petitioners.

It's almost too bad that we don't have baby LG PCs out to foil the plots of the evil dragon king. As much fun as subjecting fiends to this would be, just imagine the look on some mid level crusader's face as he realizes exactly what he has to do to actually reach the demon purging part of the adventure. None of this actually impedes us from extracting them within the timeframe of a day. And I'm pretty sure we have Administrative access to all of our constructs anyway.
The point of all this hullabaloo is basically to be as asininely inconvenient to immediately acquiring the demons in storage as is possible.
As in, the delay is only supposed to account for giving us a minimum of several to several dozen rounds of free action if the enemy decides to make acquiring the demons their focus over killing the archmages barreling toward them--meaning it's basically a non-option. It's limiting their actions from the outset, not a meaningful deterrence for a sufficiently determined foe.

The Spitter are important so that every enemy who is not warded against all four primary energy types will be overwhelmed and vaporized by them in short order and even without it, they provide extra security by expanding the cloud of undead and absorbing hits.@Azel, @BronzeTongue, concerns addressed.
