dream/trip, they definitely weren't in their right minds and shouldn't have to deal with the memories as if they had been

On the other hand, if Sailor Moon is a cop instead of a soldier, this is her yelling to put the gun down before opening fire. And, of course, it makes it easier on Usagi's mental state to know that she gave the other side an honest chance to give up before killing them.

on the one hand, yes... but on the other, I basically took it near word for word from the Viz Dub.

"All of you have done a great job so far, now Go and tear up the rest of this town!" And then Sailor Moon starts telling them off for ignoring people's feelings.

Memory manipulation always leaves a bad taste in my mouth. However I have been partially swayed by the INFOSEC argument.

Erasing their memories might even be worse for some as they get asked about the things they did under mind control but can not remember them.

I am completley against the evil of killing everyone by erasing their memorys. Reducing their memory to a particually vivid dream not only helps cover for us, but also helps them deal with events a bit better.

It looks like reducing the night to a dream is in the lead, followed by completely erasing their memories.
 
I'm hope that Luna knows what she is doing. I would rather not be responsible for a bad roll, but the other option is giving them immediate PTSD which can't be good for their mental health.
The question of how much we mess with their minds is of weighing principles against the risks of life and death. I think that the government likely won't be investigating 'some weird dreams'.
Eye witness accounts become less reliable over time. The things the government might reliably discover are:
1. That we were active around this time.
2. There were no other scouts present.
3. There was a man with a mask.
4. We may have access to memory alteration magic

This fourth point I find the worst that is why I opt for complete erasure, any government will understandably be quite interested if they learned of it's existence.

This early on I think we should avoid as much attention as possible. Eventually we'll want to let others know what is happening but not anytime soon.

EDIT: WallFlower has convinced me that complete erasure is the way to go as it will muddy the waters for people trying to get information on us once we do eventually reveal ourselves.

...Like having something clearly happen with physical signs of something having happened being there, with EVERYONE that could easily be placed there knowing nothing, even why they were there that day in the first place would raise less alarm bells!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Because there will be physical evidence something went on there regardless of the memory vote...

Messing with memories is shady but at least it won't be permanent.

We were voting on what to do with the memories of all the people who were mind controlled/possessed during this Youma attack. Specifically whether to wipe their memories entirely, blunt them to a dream-like state, or just let the victims remember everything.

The vote ended a few minutes ago with the 'make it feel like a dream' option winning out.
 
Huh... Interesting. Did I mess up something in the set up, or is that just a thing that happens there?
