[X] Goldfish
That's quite a generous failure. I was expecting madness and outright regression in the research as it was revealed that one of the researchers was going mad and all his stuff had to be dumped, something like that.
The horribly plot foiled in the background does unsaid, because what kind of Far Realm madness doesn't drive you to skin someone alive in an attempt to open the Gate?
Waymar: "Two out of three isn't bad!"Tyroshi Mage: "So my innards did not turn into snakes?"
Vee: "No. That did not happen."
Tyroshi Mage: "And the sky didn't start bleeding and whispering in a dark language?"
Vee: "Nope. Didn't happen."
Tyroshi Mage: "And there is no snake / Illithid monster in the forge that rants about fools reading texts beyond their feeble faculties?"
Vee: "Well..."
That's a very good point. They will not be happy about Qyburn at all, much less our other projects.I can't see the Githzerai reacting well to Qyburn. I don't doubt that we can keep knowledge about him compartmentalized, but that seems like the sort of thing that our enemies would love to spread around, and goodness knows the Marid would love something else to be difficult about.
Yeah, I agree, but I think we can go full disclosure and tell them the circumstances of his transformation and how it allowed us to learn a great deal of the Deep Ones' hidden lore. They could also verify that Qyburn's mind is his own.I can't see the Githzerai reacting well to Qyburn. If we're spilling state secrets then we need to plan for it so it doesn't blow up in our face. It's one thing to sell the Githzerai their own Fleshforged Beasts, but what Qyburn just pulled is anathema to them. He literally became something beyond a Mindflayer. This is akin to showing a R'hllorist where we manufacture our own Otherspawn and trusting that no diplomatic measures are needed.Yeah, I agree, but I think we can go full disclosure and tell them the circumstances of his transformation and how it allowed us to learn a great deal of the Deep Ones' hidden lore. It's not impossible, but we didn't have those diplo successes without a diplo geared vote.We managed to convince the Old Gods that using undead is useful I think it's possible that we can convince the Githzerai that Qyburn is useful. Especially with his illithid intel he stole.
It will be difficult but that's why Viserys has immense social stats.
Not beyond a Mindflayer, but merely Mindflayer adjacent. He's an Aberration, though not one that feeds on the brains of others, nor is he compelled to parasitize victims in order to reproduce. If we're spilling state secrets then we need to plan for it so it doesn't blow up in our face.
