It is my belief that Mathilde is fairly shorter than Panoramia. Not, like, species-gap shorter, but she's normal and we're small. Ergo, Mathilde is on her horse so that the relationship is equal.
...Ulgu is the Wind of illusion and blurring the edges of reality. One moment.

*ahem*

Hello, dawi. Look at your Loremaster, now back to me, now back to your Loremaster, now back to me. Sadly, they aren't me. But if they stopped grumbling about traditional methods and switched to zhuf-logic, they could reclaim holds like they're me. Look down; back up. Where are you? You're on a mountaintop with the Loremaster your Loremaster could reclaim like. What's in your hand? Back at me. I have it: it's a vault brimming with coins from clients you are no longer oathbound to serve. Look again; the coins are now friendly dragons! Anything is possible when your Loremaster embraces zhuf-logic and not traditional methods. I'm on a Shadowsteed.

I wonder what kind of poses the wizards will assume for the painting. Since it seems to be something to remember friends that might not come back, I hope that they get themselves portrayed with a touch of levity, instead of an excessively formal affair.

I wonder if it would be possible to enchant it so that the figures move, so that the painting is like a portal to an old duckling club meeting, complete with smug grins and rolling eyes.

"Ah," she says, nodding. "I suppose I see what you mean. Though it could always be worse," she leans forward and starts to undo the laces on her boots, "one common one for us is being really uncomfortable with shoes. I can't imagine working around that. I mean, soil is all well and good, but there's all sorts of things that are unpleasant to step on, or in."
If an amber gets that arcane mark I am guessing that an item of Aethyric Armour that covers their feet becomes a good investment. Some sort of anklet.

(Accusations that I couldn't get her off of the horse without having to redraw her are baseless, I would like to say.)

Panpan is
somehow giving the impression of looking up at you despite being an inch taller.
one inch taller than Mathilde. (Just enough to niggle at someone sensitive about their height?) :V
The Jade Journeyman has the silver sickle of their rank on their belt, and their staff still bears leaves and cherries upon it, and if they stand still for too long their staff begins to put down roots and needs to be convinced to release its grip on the earth.
And technically she's not qualified for the golden sickle of Magisterhood rank yet. :)

-Undead don't die from hypothermia, but cold, wet weather is a lot worse for undead durability than warm flesh, and the rank and file are not known for great agility even in the best of climates.
Cold might be better for undead actually. Preserve them rather than requiring greater and greater expenditures of power to make sure they still fight despite rotting away.

With relation to the bolded bit: does that mean they don't do live portraiture? If so, I guess we're getting an umgi or halfling artist.
Apparently the Asur have animated portraits. Or at least, they do in 8th edition, so that'd be a cool one to see if Mathilde could get done at some point.

Consider Shadowsteed: to your mindset, Ulgu is not a swift wind, nor one especially attuned to horses. If you'd never heard of the spell, you'd think it better suited to Hysh or perhaps Ghur. But you tend to think first in terms of Elemental Ulgu, the fog and the shadow, where the inventor of the spell was much more Mystical and drew inspiration from the inexorable march of dawn and dusk that loop the world every day. Most Grey Wizards can cast the spell, but few could recreate the underlying logic unless they dedicated themselves to the study of the moments on the cusp between day and night.
Reading this again. If the inspiration of shadowsteed is the march of dawn and dusk then I find it odd that the horse is so slow. 30 mph at a steady rate might seem fast, but compared to the march of dusk and dawn (1,037 at the equator mph if this world has the same length days as ours) that is basically standing still. Too bad our traits are not suitable to tinkering with the shadowsteed spell. I suspect that there is a major inefficiency or limiter in the spell.

It'd be higher, if the days are the same length. It's generally accepted that Warhammer world is twice the size of Earth.

I'm not on Team Dragon Breath but depending on the recharge requirements I might support getting an Aqshy Powerstone. All our magical items so far have fairly inconvenient recharge requirements like the Seed needing to either eat bodies or sleep outside and the Red Tower needing its own bonfire and I'm worried that the Dragon Breath item may be hindered by an extremely slow recharge.

Source? I'm genuinely curious about the details of Warhammer cosmology.

It generally isn't that hard to get a fire and that I expect that to be the recharge condition. If we need hotter fires to recharge I think that asking some dwarf might be a better idea then getting a Aqshy Powerstone. They have thousands of years of institutional knowledge on making contained super hot fires.

Edit: Or use some AV to buy a sheath with a rune of burning on it.

The limiter might be necessary so you can go slower at all.

Riding at 1037 mph might just be a little taxing on reaction time for sudden walls :V
