We've already had that conversation with them. When we met with that one Golden Shield Lannister spy in the Opaline Vault, right afterwards we tipped off the Shaitan that a fugitive from our lands was lurking in there and we'd appreciate their imprisonment and extradition.

We then ignored him. He's probably still in prison.
I had a feeling that was for that one particular case, and still left the task to the Shaitan authorities, but whatever, I suppose that's beyond the level of generalization by now

You know, with all the research and progress we have been doing in things it makes me wonder what research and progress other factions have been up to in general that we haven't seen the results of yet.

The Lannisters for example have the massive gold source to likely research and make tons of improved golems with dragon slaying weapons for example.
I don't want Westeros to become a bloody slog where we're forced to kill everyone who opposed us because they're too afraid to turn on the Lannisters. We've put so much diplomacy effort into the continent because we want to take it, population included, relatively intact.

Hopefully, Lanna will see reason (not to mention the writing on the wall) and sabotage any particularly heinous or dangerous efforts to turn our victory phyrric.

Better put some contingencies in place just in case.

We really should see about putting some spies into the Lannister's organisation so we can get an idea of what their up to.

In this case it's a precedent. We shouldn't have a need to argue for each and every extradition when 1) we've made to clear to the Shaitan that the Lannisters are outlaws, and 2) the Shaitan have zero reason to help the Lannisters.

You know, these days someone having some dumb Valyrian Dragon mounts isn't such a huge deal... I mean the thing that makes them massively more powerful than conventional armies is conventional armies can't get through that AC, they're in the air so the majority of the army can't hit back at it, and it has a large AoE breath weapon it can use repeatedly to kill lots of soldiers.

We do that, more efficiently, and more quickly, using heavy artillery. From a weapons platform which is even more difficult to meaningfully damage.

Don't get me wrong, dragons are still great... but they're just a powerful unit on the field. Most of our real enemies have a way to deal with them.

Harder to deal with HE and APDS shells flying down range from over half a kilometer away.

Did we ever do the same with the Djinn? They don't have much reason to help the Lanninsters either.

Think its a good idea to see if we can have a "friendly" chat with her the month before the conquest starts?

Part MMMDCXII: In High Spirits
In High Spirits

Twenty-Fifth of the Second Month 294 AC

You consider the notion for perhaps ten heartbeats before dismissing it. There will doubtless be misunderstandings and some unintended harm, but to divide the dead from the living thus would raise more suspicions in the long run than it quiets fears in the short term. "Better not to divide space thus, but I know of where you might find skilled intermediaries to help you find your feet in this new world." If the Iron Bank can deal with the fey than mortal dead should be easier by far to handle...

Unsurprisingly the name Braavos is not wholly strange to the spirits, though it is distant Sallosh itself had been a port city and by the time of the Doom and the Century of Blood the city had long since revealed itself to the world, in the midst of its first blooming. Some of the last ships to head out of the harbor down towards the Bay of Tusks had hooped to make it to Braavos rather than Sarys or Saath for the twin cities had failed to come to Sallosh's aid.

So it is that you carry with your own hands a specter's anchor into one of the Iron Bank's numerous private antechambers, and after introductions are made depart the halls of iron with a light heart and an admittedly somewhat lighter pouch.

"How did you find the scholars?" Lya asks later than evening, idly playing with the golden Star of Wisdom that had served her well just as yours had.

"Congenial as we left them," you reply. With a small chuckle you add, "the banker was a touch surprised to see their envoy before I explained matters."

"The kind of explanation that clinks when you shake it?" she asks archly. At your nod she adds. "I wish other troubles were as easily solved. I've been working on the spell to seal away dangerous beings in the Snare or other prisons and it is... anything but easy. It's hard to even describe how many layers of complexity the willingness of the subject obviates..."

"Show me," you reply while turning towards her. "I've got a few hours where no one is trying to kill any of us, and the feast at court today has been delayed on account of Zherys and Relath both not being able to attend."

"Oh, are you sure?" she asked, standing up from the bed with a bight smile bloomed on her lips and sparks of joy in her eyes. A moment later a scroll appeared in her hand from an arcane pouch. As she let it unwind the sheet of formulas in Lya's tight neat script reached almost to her knees. "There is this permutation here that guides passage of the soul through a translocation..."

"If you just left that out wouldn't you just have a death spell?" you ask, peering at the line of seals.

"Maybe, but we have plenty of ways to kill things without ripping the body away and leaving the soul behind," she shakes her head at your distraction. "Now, I was thinking of borrowing the Yi Tish elemental wheel to try to see if a novel model shakes it loose..."

You spent an enjoyable two hours picking apart spells and then an even more enjoyable hour doing other things, careful not to smudge the newly made calculations. There would be work yet to do on this into next month, but neither you nor Lya mind.

OOC: As I was thinking how to show Lya's action I realized it had been a while since I've show Lya and Viserys just being together alone, so here's a bit of fun spell-crafting leading into other things. Viserys' help was too brief to have a mechanical impact but Lya appreciated it just the same.

I think this was what Azel wanted, and I admit a lot of interest how it went off.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP. I also changed the note on the research to say Greater Baleful Teleport.

I want to squeeze in one more actual action before we just do endless reports for this month.

[X] Go before the ruling body of Elyria, first assessing how talks your diplomatic corps went.
-[X] This may be a state visit but you sort of have to find excuses to spend time with family and you're not expecting any danger. Invite Rhaella, Elia and Oberyn along.

One more month of research on Greater Baleful Teleport and we'll be able to start working on our Teleportation Chamber. 🤓

[X] Crake

Magical Calculus as foreplay, Gods above we're a fucking nerd.

Thankfully Lya's apparently into that sort of thing.

I've had enough Viserys for now, a few interlude chains before we get back to him sounds like the right medicine to me.

A concept for Namaaru's body, open for suggestion and all that, as we are going to be the designers of the same.
It's a good bit less tough than her Mummy-body was, but has some other tweaks for his.
Generally DP-approved in terms of balance and themes.

Advanced Horacalcum Warforged Template

For the construct, though mostly made of Horacalcum, no costs or efforts where spared, and so the attention of Namaaru's best artificers, the willingness to forge each part by hand from the metal best suited to it (such as Mithral joints or muscle-fibres of Adamant) and lastely to the death-mask of Namaaru, imbued with a small part of her own Legend, used as the new face of the body made this body a work of artifice equal to any artifact, bestowing the Advanced template beyond the specifics of the Horacalcum-effects.

Traits:

  • Unlike other constructs, a warforged has a Constitution score.
  • Unlike other constructs, a warforged does not have low-light vision or darkvision.
  • Unlike other constructs, a warforged is not immune to mind-affecting spells and abilities.
  • Immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, disease, nausea, fatigue, exhaustion, effects that cause the sickened condition, and energy drain.
  • A warforged cannot heal lethal damage naturally.
  • Unlike other constructs, warforged are subject to critical hits, nonlethal damage, stunning, ability damage, ability drain, and death effects or necromancy effects.
  • As living constructs, warforged can be affected by spells that target living creatures as well as by those that target constructs. Damage dealt to a warforged can be healed by a cure light wounds spell or a repair light damage spell, for example, and a warforged is vulnerable to disable construct and harm. However, spells from the healing subschool and supernatural abilities that cure hit point damage or ability damage provide only half their normal effect to a warforged.
  • The unusual physical construction of warforged makes them vulnerable to certain spells and effects that normally don't affect living creatures. A warforged takes damage from heat metal and chill metal as if he were wearing metal armor. Likewise, a warforged is affected by repell metal or stone as if he were wearing metal armor. A warforged is repelled by repell wood. The iron in the body of a warforged makes him vulnerable to rusting grasp. The creature takes 2d6 points of damage from the spell (Reflex half; save DC 14 + caster's ability modifier). A warforged takes the same damage from a rust monster's touch (Reflex DC 17 half). Spells such as stone to flesh, stone shape, warp wood, and wood shape affect objects only, and thus cannot be used on the stone and wood parts of a warforged.
  • A warforged responds slightly differently from other living creatures when reduced to 0 hit points. A warforged with 0 hit points is disabled, just like a living creature. He can only take a single move action or standard action in each round, but strenuous activity does not risk further injury. When his hit points are less than 0 and greater than —10, a warforged is inert. He is unconscious and helpless, and he cannot perform any actions. However, an inert warforged does not lose additional hit points unless more damage is dealt to him, as with a living creature that is stable.
  • As a living construct, a warforged can be raised or resurrected.
  • A warforged does not need to eat, sleep, or breathe, but he can still benefit from the effects of consumable spells and magic items such as hero's feast or potions.
  • Although living constructs do not need to sleep, a warforged wizard must rest for 8 hours before preparing spells.
  • Light Fortification (Ex): When a critical hit or sneak attack is scored on a warforged, there is a 25% chance that the critical hit or sneak attack is negated and damage is instead rolled normally.

Lithe Body (Ex): Namaaru's body is shaped similar to her human or undead form, granting only +2 Natural Armor, but allowing her to wear armor normally.

Horacalcum Insight (Ex): The power of the skymetal her body is forged by gives Namaaru a perception outside of time, as well as the ability to speed up her own thoughts in relation to the outside world at will, giving her near endless time to consider her steps in the heat of combat.

  • +4 Insight bonus on Initiative
  • She may always take 10 on any use of skill, even if the skill normally doesn't allow for that
  • As she can plan out her next attacks, she gains a +2 Insight bonus on all her attacks and her critical range is increased by 1 (this is not multiplied by Keen weapons or Improved Critical, but added after such an effect).
  • Having a strange perception of time, Namaaru always knows how long a timestop will last after casting it, and she can percieve what other people under Timestop or similar effects do, still unable to act, but perfectly prepared to react after the effect ends.
Will of the Queen (Ex): Namaaru did not forget the lessons learned in Undeath, to let the power of her own will empower her body beyond the limits of mortality. She may use her Charisma modifier in place of her Constitution to determine her total HP.

Regarding the alloy, there's no reason we can't fire off some Discern Locations to look for starmetal deposits like you were hoping for.

EDIT: Never mind, I see the proposal assumes we'll find starmetal for her.
*rolls*

21 Master mages
17 Solid Professionals
52 Apprentices and dabblers
@DragonParadox, would you mind clarifying what this means in terms of feats?

I'm assuming Apprentices have Craft Magic Items, Solid Professionals have that and Craft Magical Arms and Armor, and then Master Mages have all that and Craft Construct?

Nah, Skymetal is a broad category that Horacalcum falls under.

I have now just assumed that we get enough Horacalcum to build the majority of the body, with everything else mostly being generic "rare materials" driving the price up.
No Starmetal needed.
