Updated the plan again, now with:

--[] Before the guards arrive and while the situation is being sorted out, attempt to reassure the prince, surreptitiously using Wild Arcana and our Rod of Threnodic Magic to cast a Heart's Ease spell which affects Undead. Remind him that he has just come in contact with a servant of the Void, that which is enemy to all that exists, and that he survived the experience. As our victory just now shows, the Void can be fought and it can be defeated. Ask him to be patient a little while longer, for a solution to the curse afflicting the people of Mardosh will soon be revealed.
I love having all the rods for Viserys. :D @Goldfish, are there any we still need to get?

Step 1) Cast lenghtened Spark of Life, because he's undead and mental effects don't stick.
Step 2) Apply Heart's Ease liberally.

Morally Grey
Au contraire, mon frère.

Among Viserys' collection of Metamagic rods, he has a Threnodic Spell Rod. For spells up to 6th level, he doesn't need to use Spark of Life to affect Undead with Mind-Affecting effects. The power of wealth!

Metamagic Rods/Staves:
  • Lesser:
    • Lesser Rod of Chaining: This rod allows you to apply the Chain Spell Metamagic to 1st-3rd level spells 3/Day.
    • Lesser Rod of Selection: This rod allows you to apply the Selective Spell Metamagic to 1st-3rd level spells 3/Day.
    • Lesser Rod of Familiar Magic: This rod allows you to apply the Familiar Spell Metamagic to 1st-3rd level spells 3/Day.
  • Standard:
    • Rod of Delayed Magic: This rod allows you to apply the Delayed Spell Metamagic to 1st-6th level spells 3/Day.
    • Rod of Invisible Magic: This rod allows you to apply the Invisible Spell Metamagic to 1st-6th level spells 3/Day.
    • Rod of Threnodic Magic: This rod allows you to apply the Threnodic Spell Metamagic to 1st-6th level spells 3/Day.
  • Greater:
    • Greater Rod of Mercy: This rod allows you to apply the Merciful Spell Metamagic to any spell 3/Day.
    • Greater Staff of Quickening: This staff allows you to apply the Quicken Metamagic to any spell 3/Day.
    • Greater Rod of Maximizing: This rod allows you to apply the Maximize Metamagic to any spell 3/Day.
    • Greater Rod Transdimensional Magic: This rod allows you to apply the Transdimensional Spell Metamagic to any spell 3/Day.

Wouldnt hurt, but hes undead and got mind whacked by an epic void monstrosity. It's going to take actual mind healing. A few words and a low level spell wont pull him out.

Edit:
@Goldfish We can just explain were working on restoring them to some kind of life? Being vague here hurts our cause when hes been conditioned to view things in a bad light.
Updated the plan yet again, this time to mention that we will soon be able to begin restoring the people of Mardosh to life.

"Three staffs, eleven rods, four rings..."

Harry: "Viserys..."

"...two portable extra-dimensional spaces..."

Harry: "Viserys."

"...eight warding charms..."

Harry: "Viserys!"

"...fifteen assorted talismans..."

Harry: "I get it already!"

Viserys: "Harry, I'm not even a fifth of the way through my inventory. Calm down."

Harry, the very opposite of calm: "You're lighting up the entire block!"

Viserys: "Oops."

Would bloodwish work instead of wild arcana? If we get into a fight later we might need the mythic power, we only have 5 left right now.

We're not planning on fighting anything soon. We have some more snooping to do before we lead any assaults. Mythic Power recovers fast enough.

Wild Arcana casts the spell at whatever level it normally is, so Heart's Ease duplicated in that manner would only be 3rd level. That means it's eligible for our Threnodic Spell rod, which caps out at 6th level, whereas Blood Wish is a 7th level spell and wouldn't work with the rod. Viserys has nine Mythic Power per day and even after this use he should still have at least five left over, in addition to the many high level spell slots that are still available.

A threnodic heart's ease would only be a 5th level spell. Given the shear amount of flexibility bloodwish has, I would of thought it could recreate a spell with a metamagic effect already on it. Or can bloodwish not do that?

If we find a way to summon the daemon, I don't think we should wait to attempt capture.

Agreed on this. If Dany manages a sympathetic bond between the Daemon and the corpse of its former Soul Reaper host we're jumping right on that shit. Like hell we're leaving a CR 20 enemy fiend running around messing with our plans.

Unfortunately it doesn't work like that.

The only alternative ways we could cast a Threnodic Heart's Ease would be to cast Ancestral Awakening to either learn the Threnodic Spell metamagic, which we could then use in conjunction with Blood Wish to cast Heart's Ease while using a 9th level spell slot, or to temporarily learn the Heart's Ease spell, which we could then use with our Threnodic Spell Rod. Obviously, of those two possibilities the second would be preferable, but that would lock us out of using Ancestral Awakening for anything else for the rest of the day, and we normally keep it in reserve for emergencies, like learning a Metamagic feat which we don't have access to. Admittedly, that's less of a concern now that we have so many Metamagic Rods, but it's still something to keep in mind.

Capture and feed to Yss. Introduce permadeath to that bitch.
Not before we take a hand to grow into trophy. ;)

We've got a nice growing collection of CR 20 Fiends.

Aspect of Mammon, Lord of the Third (CR 21)
Thirtieth Day of the Fourth Month 293 AC
Great serpentine coils, each scale a coin of some forgotten empire stretch out shifting seamlessly into the upper body of a golden-skinned giant, perfect in every proportion. The face atop it is no less angelic seeming, though it is twisted in an expression of pride and greed for which there is no name in the tongues of men for it bespeaks of desires, of needs no mortal soul could ever contemplate. This is an aspect of Mammon, Archduke of the Third Circle of the Nine Hells. He came into direct conflict with you when you freed Mereth the Erinyes from his service, and to you he offered a bargain: beat him in battle and claim his corpse as your prize and even gain the right to tempt devils away from Hell's service, or if you lose and die Mammon would be given free reign to run rampant in Prime Material. It was the most dangerous challenge you'd ever faced and nothing you'd even dreamed of facing for years yet, but in the end you and your companions triumphed, and the aspect's treasures and the right to tempt devils away from Hell are now yours.

Maharaja Rakshasa (CR 20)
Twenty-Ninth Day of the Sixth Month 293 AC
It shines like a baleful star, like gold at noontime, like an idol of some accursed age, a blasphemous conjoining of man and beast bedecked in blazing and lurid garments and bright gems. Five heads it has—hound, cat, hawk, and lizard-lion, but none so baleful as that of man. Though the contours of the face have a sort of stark beauty about them, there is a hunger in the depths of those eyes that no beast can match, a desire for obeisance that would not be sated even if all the world were to lie at its feet. The great fiend hovers in midair, legs bent under its form, disdaining to touch the ground. You fought and killed this Maharaja in the ruins of Lyceos, at the foot of the Spire of Syrax.

Mythic Horned Devil (CR 20/MR 8)
Sixteenth Day of the Tenth Month 293 AC
A hellish general of a kind you had faced only once before in White Harbor, though this one bears a sword of red-hot flame, girdled in armor of charred bone, and a crown of twisted black upon his brow. This Mythic Cornugon sworn to Asmodeus himself was faced in the Flesh Forge of Gogossos, and slain by Ser Richard in single combat.

Chimeric Wizard Creature Bone Devil (CR 20)
Sixteenth Day of the Tenth Month 293 AC
A chimeric horror, Baatezu without a doubt, but seemingly assembled of broken shards and twisted limbs. Translucent fly winds twitch behind him in either anger or anticipation while a great bony tail sways above the not-quite human head. Burning chains hang from his wrists and ankles, broken and rattling... This Chimeric Bone Devil was faced in the Flesh Forge of Gogossos and slain there.

Asurendra Asura (CR 20)
Twenty-Fifth Day of the Tenth Month 293 AC
An Elder Fiend armored in gold and armed in flame and spellsteel. Six arms he has, six blades float through the air, and when he turns six burning eyes look upon the wasteland with twisted pleasure. This Asurendra served as a captain aboard an Efreeti expedition that aimed to brave the Valyrian heartlands and plunder a gigantic spike of dragonsteel to be twisted to their Grand Sultan's will. He was hunted down and slain by Viserys and Ser Richard.

After this I've got my eye on getting a Pit Fiend and a Balor.

Man speaking of Balors, those things are fucking baller for utterly basic 3.5 creatures. Pathfinder has a lot more nuance to creature design, and if you glance over at Pit Fiend you're like "man what the FUCK were they thinking".

Seeing the Trophy Room grow into such a fine collection has been such a pleasure over the years. Thanks again for putting it together and maintaining it so well. 🤓

  • [X] Stay where you are and try to explain your presence
-[X] When the guards arrive, indicate the slain Soul Reaper as an enemy trying to subvert the people of Mardosh and ask to meet with the Lord Protector ASAP. The matter is quite urgent.
--[X] Before the guards arrive and while the situation is being sorted out, attempt to reassure the prince, surreptitiously using Wild Arcana and our Rod of Threnodic Magic to cast a Heart's Ease spell which affects Undead. -[X] When inevitably questioned on our presence, explain that we learned of the prince upon first entering the city. We met with him as part of our attempts to discover who ruled the city and their disposition. We did not plan to return to the tower where he lives, but our sister had a premonition that the prince was in danger and that our true enemy had shown their hand. There was no time to give a warning to the proper authorities.
-[X] The Olethrodaemon who escaped is clearly an important agent of the Void. You can't know how much time you have to try and get the knowledge of it's True Name, or attempt forcing a connection to it, via the Reaper's body.
--[X] Have Dany grab a piece of the Reaper and spirit it away to safety and the other Companions - both divining all the answers we can, and trying to see if there's a connection we can exploit in order to summon the Daemon back (give her the curse-staff), while you meet with the Lord-Protector.
---[X] Keep a mental link open for updates on information newly-divined and corpse-questioned.
